I absolutely LOVE that you show us when a piece doesnt necessarily come out exactly how you were expecting. It actually gives me even more confidence to try something I am not sure of. What doesnt work with one outfit might be perfect for another one !! As always I simply adore your videos and look forward to watching and learning something new !!! 😍😍😍😍😍

This is GORGEOUS. I would have gone dark greens to suit my colouring, but this one is very inspiring. The good thing about thrift clothes is that a mistake is never a disaster! They can go into the cabbage basket for later. I do a lot of tea dying too. Love watching Traci cooking with Dye. Another great one !
What genius Tracey! The way to reshape clothes is so amazing! I have been losing some weight (Course not near what I would like to lose lol ) and this is great!! Thank you once again Tracey for being so generous with your ideas and times! Brenda

You are an amazing resource. I watched this when it first came out, wasn't sure that the message was for me. Then two days ago, a course of action I was taking seemed to fall apart, and I went into an emotional reactive mode. This morning, I started journaling as a method for working through this dilemma, and I realized that something about it seemed very familiar, and my mind went back to this video. Another great tutorial, thanks Traci! I have a project in mind, hope it works, making a lounging dress out of t-shirts. Was going to discard them but watching your video I feel t-shirts cut up can create fabric to make a comfy dress to wear at home. Your techniques have inspired me so nothing lost if I get it wrong because I will use elastic and runching, fabric patches and magic will happen. This way to use elastic is so easy and changes are dramatic, incredible. Thanks again. 💖💖💖💞💯

Absolutely amazing!!!! Totally inspiring!!!! Thinking out of the box🤩, wonderful!!!! Thank you for sharing!! Tomorrow I must look for some thrifted shirts and nice white lace linen or sheets in my stach 🥰🤩🤩🤩🤩
So fun! Something Ive learned about some fabrics......if its a natural fibre it will burn and a synthetic will melt....try a small piece if possible and under your safest conditions of course😊. Always fun having a cuppa and joining you for a tutorial.
I have never wore something like that - now i want to 😜😂 I cant wait to get my 'design room' together. I just moved from a tiny place to a forever home with a spare room. I was teaching myself sewing many years ago (long story), and i cant wait to get everything organised. I am waiting on my daughters room to be renovated as she is in there til its done (its a very run down shack). I feel rather impatient now.😂
@@tmyershandmade978 I'm being honest, love your videos at least takes me away from all the bad news of this world. Your videos are peaceful sanctuary to me. You are so lovely and explain so well the how do's. ❤😊🤗
Lovely outfit. I personally preferred it all white....or would have opted for the brown mixed with a hint of green perhaps. Your dye result is a bit too peachy/pink for me. But nevertheless the whole outfit is beautiful. 😘😘😘
I NEEDED this! I have so many things I can change, with just a little elastic! I wish I could remember who it was...I saw an upcycle video where elastic was sewn from the wrist to elbow of a thin sweater. It gave it a pretty shirred look and added so much detail to a simple sweater... and now my mind is bouncing! Wouldn't it be cute to add a couple of inches of elastic to the side seams at the bottom of a loose tunic length sweater?
Yes yes yes!!! Love the way you're thinking!!! I was thinking, what about a frumpy blazer, maybe five inches of elastic, horizontal in the middle of the back to give it more shape. Love the sweater sleeve idea!😍💕💕💕💕💕💕
Oh my goodness TRACY you're so amazing and creative. I just love it. I bought some pants recently and didn't wanna wear them because I didn't like the baggy look and this totally gives me an idea what to do with them. Thank you so much. I love your videos.❤❤❤❤❤❤

RE: Dyeing
For testing unknown/unlabeled fabrics, you can perform a “burn test” safely by clipping a few fibers from an inconspicuous area (maybe a seam) and lighting them on fire (holding the fibers in metal tweezers or pinches, over a fireproof surface, with water or fire extinguisher on hand-always practice fire safety).
By examining how the fibers burn, how they smell during/after burning, and the ashes, you can get a good sense of what the material is. There are lots of resources for analyzing burn tests online.
The simple version is, if your fibers melt (the burnt area blobs and solidifies as it cools down), you’ve got a plastic (or plastic blend)-polyester, acrylic, etc. If your fibers turn to ash or go out immediately after catching fire, you’ve got a natural fiber, and you can inspect the burn/ashes for more detailed info about which specific fiber. Oh, and wool will smell like burnt hair... kind of obvious, now that I think about it 😅

Aww thank you!!!🤗💞💞💞💞
Hi, Traci. I love your outfit! Lately, I've been gravitating towards that color also. I am attempting a similar one at the moment. So...
My question is about dyeing. I've never had the courage. I have a white sheet. The problem may be the fiber content. It's a 50/50 cotton/polyester blend. How well might it take the dye for natural fabrics?
50/50 typically will take the dye in my experience. The color, most likely, won't be as rich and saturated as 100% cotton would be.🤗❤❤❤❤
Thank you for answering me. If I may...
Would dyeing it longer or making it more intense (less diluted) or even using the rit dye for synthetics make more vibrant? ❤❤
You rock. Adorable like always
