Came for Mario kart done fast, stayed for amber talking about camera physics over cheep cheep beach. But seriously, I really loved the run(s?)! I think I may pick up running this game because of how much I enjoyed watching this!
It was mentioned that someone was working on an auto-splitter. As a programmer myself i would probably use the finish line sound as a trigger, the only issue is that the splitting software would need to support adding a split "retroactively" i.e. it takes quite a few milliseconds to identify the sound and then this time would need to be subtracted again to get the correct time. Should be straightforward in theory though.

ELStalky Vike was considering using audio cues, but he decided to use the checkered flag that shows up before and disappears after the finish line. It also times in-game time (i.e. the time from start to finish of each race), so it starts the IGT going a set amount of time after the checkered flag appears, and splits and pauses IGT (both retroactively, like you guessed) once the flag disappears. I’m sure Vike would be open to discussing it more if you join the speedrunning Discord server! He definitely knows more about the inner workings and logic behind building it the way he did than me.

Physical cameras are kinda neat cause they can sometimes be interacted with - Sonic Adventure 2 Battle's camera can push objects.

Hey I even named my son Jakob three years ago in preparation for this run.
What I miss at this game: timestamp/ time interval difference at the end.

First of all, great runs amazing job everybody. Secondly, why did i think that the boosts charged fastest by quickly wiggling the control stick left and right????
Months late, but mini-turbos charged faster by wiggling up to Mario Kart DS I believe, they changed how they work after that.
@@EmeffMonkey Wasn't it required to wiggle in DS to charge a boost in the first place?
