  • Found My Compass Underwater
    So even Dive Professionals lose things underwater. For 3 weeks, I have been searching for my Mares XR Compass that I lost during a training dive at our local Sandbar. Using a sweeping search pattern, we were successful in locating the compass and even found several pairs of sunglasses.

    I used the same search pattern here in Montana and we found an outboard motor. The guy that lost it showed me an identical motor so it made it easier. He put me on the spot that he remembered. From splash to surface 15 min. Great video.

      Thanks troop1026, and congratulations on your successful recovery as well.

    Thank you Bryan for this very informative video. I do some search and recovery work for some local boaters, and most of the time I am solo. I have a few patterns I use, that work fairly well, but if you could do a solo recovery video I may be able to pick up some pointers to make my searches more successful, or easier.

      Hello Gee, I will see if I can get one made for you. In the past we have done several videos doing solo search and recovery work, but I will try to make one explaining how we set up and conduct it.

    Love this channel. How long before the navigation episode comes out? Just wondering because it is a weak area for me. Will have to stop in to shop next time I am driving and in the area.

      Hello Thomas Weismantel. Hopefully with in the next week. We are going to be making a series of videos on navigation, but we also have two trips to Florida in the next couple of weeks, so they may be split with others as we are filming them. Stay tuned.

    when I was watching your video at about 10:15 Mark when you're coming back you'll notice that the line starts to twist because of the action of him Rollin it back on the spool which causes it to bunch up with the lesser amount of tension if you put a swivel on the end of the spool it will not do that

    Use u recommend air or nixtro for regular/PSD?

    • @LakeHickoryScuba
      @LakeHickoryScuba  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For all PSD work, we recommend air only. Nothing personal against Nitrox or any other mix gas, but we like to keep things as simple as possible during operational call outs. Now of course their may be a time where mix gas is required, but for the most types of recoveries PSD's deal with, regular old 21% works just fine.
