The dual main gear wheel configuration of this former CH54B indicates it was one of 25 B models built between 1969-1974 I believe having picked up a new from the factory in 1973 while serving with the 355th Aviation Co (HH). Great helicopter.
Really needed to give that kid a written exam immediately following this flight brief. Good attitude but not certain detail retention was quite on point.
I have seen these bad boys in Australia Essendon Airport several times i believe they were the Elvis and Melvis . They come here during the bush fire season . Massive monsters . When i used to taxi around them with my C172 i would keep the 3 rotor length distance but still i would feel it shaking me .
I found this video and realized that the pilot is my brother. Thanks for the video!
The pilot is very humble 👍
Hope the kid who asking him, become the next skycrane pilot
I am glad my Uncle George could give you guys a tour!

shadowfax1903 We get them in Australia every time, it be great to meet the pilots though, It's always at Jandakot sitting there :)
Standing next to one of these when it's running is like being in a wind tunnel.
my dad flew those in the 70s , given to national guard long ago
If your swimming pool is full, he might just drop on in.
Great Video !
Small cockpit to get in & its only a few seconds sorry 'bout that, hopefully the rest of the information made up for it.
Awesome video Skip. Thanks
They are cool helicopters
Are the wheel brakes activated by pressing both pedals (toe brakes) together like in fixed wing A/C?
