Thanks! Almost the same as my experience. Whenever I feel I do the same mistake as you, I try to "not coil" which surprisingly fixes it. Even if think I only go forward, and forward, the muscle memory makes sure I turn enough but not too much. Seems like it's the same kind of thought as yours here.
Huge shout out to @dgspindoctor for introducing me to Leon's channel! Last year I've been going through form change after form change. Feeling like I've made improvements and learned what my mistakes were, yet no tangible progress. I haven't played better, I haven't thrown further (max distance was 89m). Then Leon repeated (for the hundredth time) "staying loose". I went out to the field and tried it for 2 days. New personal best: 109m! And it also feels like there's less thinking about nose angles, less thinking about where to aim my reach back etc. It just feels BETTER! I haven't been this excited for disc golf in a LONG time! Thank you, both of you, for your videos!
@@ioweutube2 Absolutely awesome. You are the exact reason I make videos and wanted to introduce Leon to those, who didn't yet know about him and his video.
DUDE. Thank you. There's a lot of technical positioning couches out there, but this swing thoughts your are sharing gave me 10 more feet from my max distance in one day. And effortlessly. I feel like my 400 foot golf line goal by summer is in reach. Thank you so much!!
5:43 "Keeping the center of the hips above the line" Is the real game changer for me, cant wait to go test it out! Thank You! You got the best "tutorials" and tips on youtube! Easiest subscribe ever.
Really love this swing thought. Makes complete sense to me! I’m actually writing down all the tips I learn from you and I bring it with me to the field. I have been seeing and FEELING big changes already. Still early in the offseason and I’m determined to keep working 😁 Excited to hear that you’ve planned more videos for the winter🤩 you’re awesome dude!
This is something I’ve been working on lately, so it’s awesome to see you suggesting this. I’ve noticed I have a tendency to turn my hips away from the target, so I’ve been trying to keep them in-line in order to create the proper coiling tension between my hips and shoulders. When I do it right, my shots fly much closer to my intended line…and when I don’t, then I shank it. Thanks for sharing and giving me a little confidence boost that I’m actually diagnosing issues in my shots and taking the right steps to improve!! Loving the content - thanks for sharing!
Really enjoy the way you explain things, thanks! From a person that only started this year, and your hip video aligned with some of my current trials and thunking. Loving checking out your other content. Another great lat64 content creator :) Hope your back pain didn't last long!
Another great video, been really enjoying the thought process you go through on these. Many thanks as well to your dad for the educated eye and inspiration ;)
You might be the best coach in disc golf. the keys you keeps dropping are so good. pulling the opposite hip back from your last vid is money and this hips over a straight line is so good.
I am prone to this exact problem. I appreciate you pointing out that it can come from "trying to be too smooth." The average player can fall into the trap of thinking we are being 'smooth and relaxed' when really we are being unathletic. It may be obvious to skilled athletes, but it is good to remind mortal players that even short shots require commitment, and that words like 'effortless' are not to be taken too literally.
Another great tip! Thanks! Something that kinda helps me is taking a breath in and kinda holding it in when I'm doing my walk up. Don't know the science behind it but I think it help my upper body staying on the same plane during my pull through. I don't know but these little tips really help out. Thanks!
Super interesting Idea! Maybe it helps because Holding in the breath improves your posture? As you Said, No Matter how it works, if it works for you thats amazing!
Another great form video Leon!. The core center point to follow a straight line to the target is a super form check. Having someone seeing if you are doing this is important. Making a video of yourself throwing will always be of great help to spot form mistakes. Thanks for keeping things simple as we all are trying to get better and stay disc golfing correctly. The best players in the game are excellent teachers, and you are surely proving that to us viewers of your channel. I hope you will make some videos on getting new players into how to learn the game slowly and properly, staying away from bad habits. I believe that using lightweight and under stable is critical and learning to throw anhyzer shots(the glide and turn numbers on the disc are good for choosing a disc) and to throw rollers. As you know, putting should be the first shot to feel good about and we all await your putting lessons.. It all comes down to practice, practice and more practice. More and more people are discovering your lessons and tips to play well, and I tell many struggling disc golfers to watch your channel. We all want to see you on the Disc Golf Pro Tour and compete with the best players in the world. Look out Simon Lizotte, Leon Sonnleitner will be a future Simon for sure!☺Happy Holidays to you and your family and God Bless You for these lessons!☺Moast Sincerely, Bill M., Uncasville, CT, PDGA 7378, lifelong promoter of the game we love, and to see it grow and grow!
this is a really great thought for feel thank you for sharing this with us! in my progression as a disc golfer trying to figure everything out like how the pros do it, ive realized that stuff like this is what really matters. its the little ways that you think about things that help you feel them right. ive noticed this the hardest in trying to become proficient at putting. that being said i would love to hear your thoughts on putting form at some point with this in mind!
I’ve been studying this exact thought with Paul McBeth and trying to prevent early rotation. I noticed he was keeping his eye on target much longer than I had been or was able to keep his eye on the target for longer. But either way his hips and his eyes both aiming at the target, and it to me it highlighted the timing of the reachback and the alignment of the hips.
Love your videos! Could you possibly do a video on how to throw different angles? Specifically anhyzer? I seem to never be able to get any power behind an anhyzer shot
In my opinion "Spin" only comes from gripping the disc and throwing with good Form. I personally never try to throw with more or less spin. Might do a Video about this!
if i lose my forms feeling what ill do is i start off like im throwing a mid range with no disc in my hand that helps me to find the feeling of my shot and i can hear the snap and feel the power.. then i just coil more at hips to throw it further but same arm movement as an upshot etc.
Is another way to think about it… an early release isn’t actually early but is because we are turned off the line because hips moved off the line? It is early only in that is not on the line we need?
Im new to disc golf and have been watching alot of videos on form, but my 1 real big problem is i always tend to release the disc late and it always flys right, any thoughts on why this is? Even if i try to aim more left i still end up pulling it right.
Take a video of your throw. I fixed this issue by focusing on the pull through and the power pocket. Rounding tends to pull the disc to the right. At least for me it does. Good luck!
usually when i miss right, it's because i'm popping up too early to see where the disc is going. much like golf, it's important to keep your head and chest over the throw until the release
Great explanation, I think keeping the center of my hips on the line will really help me too! But please, no one ever make a disc golf video again without showing some throws. At least show one or two like Scott Stokely does, but if you want to go hard, the Disc Golf World or even Mint Blitz's videos are a great example of how to preach at the viewer while keeping engaging content on the screen. Thanks for sharing your tips!
I wanted to see an example of a good run up with this thought. I've watched all of your videos also, but this one needed some more detail, to me, about "center of the hips on the line."
Thanks! I actually wanted to do some shots at the end but was struggling with some Back pain and decided to only Talk this time. Will throw again next Video for Sure!
Thanks!
