    I picked up a 2014 with 3k miles and I love it. When I pull up at a fast-food drive-through the person asks.... "Where is the rest of your car. I thought you were in a Dodge Hellcat"

I'm glad you mentioned the HORRIBLE turning radius, I almost got in multiple parking lot accidents because the car behind me would assume I'm turning left when I was actually trying to turn around. Thank you, Chris Devarenne. Visibility out back isn't too bad as long as no one is sitting in the back seat and the headrests are down. However, if they are up, they take up the majority of your view out the rear window. There is a rearview camera to aid a bit, though. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

    I'm not one for noisy cars of any variety, but I must say this little 500 Abarth sounds pretty darn great! I can only see using it for a fun weekend car though, not a daily driver. Even as a single guy with no kids, the lack of a usable backseat or any real cargo area is a deal breaker. There are other subcompacts out there that offer both...at the expensive of the performance this one delivers.

    • @keiy.4031

      I daily mine and I have no problem making Costco or grocery store runs, and that's on top of hauling a tool set, aftermarket air pump (the factory one is one of those noisy cheapo units), battery jumper, oil, coolant, washer fluid, and most items needed to get me out of minor pinches. I've brought along a set of tires mounted on wheels along with the rear with the seats down so I could change from winter to summer tires (I'll change wheels myself, but needed the store to pop old tires off and install some fresh rubber and rebalance).
      It's like moving into a house. If you buy more house than you need, you just end up filling it with crap you don't need and having empty space you can't utilize. If you buy a tiny house, you re-evaluate what you really need with space limitations, and end up finding clever ways to maximize space usage and live with what you got. Personally, I don't regret picking an Abarth over the FiST. FiST is better on paper in every conceivable way, but the Abarth is a riot. I don't even use the radio!

    • @palebeachbum
      @palebeachbum 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keiy.4031 I sat in a 500 at my local Fiat dealership. I found it way too tiny. I was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage hatch at the time, which was a tiny car, but felt cavernous inside in comparison. A friend has a regular 500 and he's having lots of problems with it. His power window went out and the transmission died. It is a Fiat after all.

    • @keiy.4031
      @keiy.4031 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@palebeachbum I drove mine 3,000 miles across the country on my move and I've had zero issues with it other than a 2-minute fix when a hose popped off the AOS system, due to an oil catch can that I had added. It's only been to the dealer once when I wanted an extra key fob programmed, which was a ridiculous process. Maybe I just live a lighter lifestyle where I rarely have need to haul anything more than the cargo or passenger capacity of the Abarth in any given trip. I felt my Toyota Corolla was too big for me and didn't have qualms about stepping down to a tiny hatchback.
      I've had more loaner time with my very pedestrian Toyota Corolla ownership, including the motors on the power door lock systems failing twice, breaking the plastic driver's side door handle, the center console hinge snapping, the rear fold-out cup holders breaking, leaking ATF that required replacing one of the gaskets, and developing noisy valve lifters. I still considered the Corolla very reliable. Honestly, any modern car's reliability is worlds beyond cars from 20 years ago.
      Most of the CS reliability problems with Fiat stems from the 2012 US production year with serious and legitimate issues, including a fatal grounding mistake that results in journal bearing etching and requiring a new motor, and the horrible buggy infotainment systems FCA puts in their vehicles (I opted out of it and have a base radio), which of course includes Dodge and Jeep. This also isn't Fiat of the 80's that was built by grape farmers outside of Turin, as it's part of a global automotive manufacturer conglomerate now, like PSA, Renault, or VW who own multiple brands.
      There are legitimate gripes. The interior materials are low rent, like early 2000's Subaru interiors full of rattly hard plastics, and the driving position is garbage for taller people due to the steering wheel position being non-telescopic, which results in the pedals being too close or the wheel being too far away (an Italian engineer sells an aftermarket 2" steering wheel spacer for this reason). The stupid window buttons are placed on the center console above the shifter to begin with, of all places. Yet, they're far apart enough you can't drop both windows simultaneously with your fingers on one hand...you can only drop one at a time with the placement.

    • @jennasaisquoi5174
      @jennasaisquoi5174 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't like noisy cars either, but I started it up during a test drive and I was hooked. I had power window issues on the driver side, too at 3000 miles. I don't use my backseat much but the trunk is very spacious. I've put so many things in the trunk from costco especially. The extra room comes from the bell shape of the car 🤗

I wouldn’t recommend everyone to drive a fiat 500 that fast , it really shines and feels very very safe between 130 to 200 KPH 80 to 125 MPH , it’s a blast !

    I got over 42mpg with cruise control on and sport mode off between Indianapolis and Cincinnati (mostly flat) in my 2013 Abarth 500. When I hit more hilly terrain, I was still around 36mpg I think. I loved that little car, but honestly it was terrifying on the highway. Semi trucks loved to tailgate. If you change the oil yourself, it will take at least an hour. You have to remove the air intake assembly then need a special attachment to get to the oil filter. You have to remove a skirt underneath the engine. I had to have a computer replaced in mine before it even hit 20k miles. Bottom line, it's fun but impractical and it's a Fiat so there will be issues.

    • @AutoAcademics
