While its nice for them to address a plothole it greatly diminished Vegito's worth. The Potara and the Fusion Dance all have their unique drawbacks that give them their pros and cons. The dance is available to everyone, you don't need the earrings from gods to do so and its temporary so its not a big commitment, downsides is that it only lasts half an hour, you need to do a dance perfectly and have matching power levels. Accessibility and temporary form at the cost of greater effort and a time limit. Potara kept you fused indefinitely and there was no need to match power levels. The two people fusing add the full sum of their parts. Downsides is that it was permanent and gaining the earrings is a near impossibility for almost all people. I understand why they unfused Vegito. Having two characters essentially disappear from the story to make way for a new one is a very serious commitment that should not be taken lightly and that changes the entire story. They still could have found a better way to keep what made it special. Like only a few select deities such as elder kais are capable of undoing the fusion, the earrings break upon unfusing so new ones have to be made, its a taboo and against cosmic law to give the earrings to mortals or maybe.
