I love the idea that Trunks was able to solve the Buu situation almost completely by himself because he took the ordeal serious and wasn't fucking around.
Yeah, all the conflict in DBZ onwards happens because the characters are stupid. Between Goku letting Freeza power up, Krillin not blowing up 18, Vegeta letting Cell absorb 18, Goku giving Cell a Senzu, The entirety of the Buu arc, it’s really dumb. Trunk is literally the character “What if I’m not a moron?”

I really loved that they took the chance to expand the small part of Trunks' story that was covered in Super, they really could've just told History of Trunks and it still would've been great but this really made the DLC something else entirely

Okay, honestly? The narrative of Trunks being the only one left to stand up to Babidi and his minions, fighting a desperate struggle against Dabura, going SSJ2 as he sees the peace he worked so hard for, slipping away, flashing back to Gohan's words of inspiration. That narrative is so much better than what we actually got in Z.
In Z, SSJ2 is diminished from an emotional peak form of rage and emotional destruction to something that Goku and Vegeta just casually learns off screen. And Dabura, hailed as a top tier demon king is practically a forgettable stepping stone towards Majin Buu.
I guess it's understandable you're complaining but do understand that everyone is getting stronger in the original timeline, in original timeline Dabura was no match for either Vegeta or Goku he wouldn't be match for Gohan either if Gohan trained
As for Goku and Vegeta obtaining ssj2, well I mean it was a whopping 7 years time skip sooo they should at least be caught up, not to mention the ssj2 Gohan from "an emotional peak form of rage and emotional destruction" could have been way stronger than the ssj2 Goku and Vegeta obtained from off screen if he....you guessed it! For me DBZ will always be a special case of a show that has such good high moments (which is why its so beloved), that many of its plot contrivances and plain stupid moments are being ignored or swept under the rug for the sake of praising the good parts. One can like and celebrate something but also recognize its flaws.
@@manman4949 Agreed. Some moments were so intense and impressive, and it could easily live off of that. But I'm also convinced, that a large part of it's success was due to the time of it's release. Anime was less mainstream, so less of it was being produced and advertised, meaning DBZ had less competition. Especially over here in the west. DBZ barely had any competitors from other anime. As far as I know, DB Super hasn't done as well as DBZ did, which kinda confirms my thought. (Assuming I'm right about DB Super popularity. It's only an assumption).
Honestly, in my opinion, DBZ isn't a good anime. I'd never recommend it to someone. But I still love it a lot. Which is probably very much due to how big a part of my childhood it was.

On the otherhand, when Master Roshi was first training Goku, he taught Goku that fighting was more like a sport than a matter of life and death. Fighting was always more like a sport to Goku because of the way it was introduced to him. The entire point of the first world tournament was that Master Roshi was showing Goku that there is always someone stronger, and that Goku should activley seek out the strongest person he knows in order to push his own limits. For Trunks its the opposite. Gohan taught Trunks to get the job done, plain and simple. No holding back, no allowing the enemy to get strong, and no pushing your limits. Just do what it takes to finish your opponent.

Future Trunks will always be my favorite. He didnt deserve all this hell. He even went back in time to save the others, even if it meant he would get nothing in his own timeline.
He became stronger and killed 17, 18 and Cell. Yes he couldn't save the world like Gohan in the other Timeline did. But he destroyed the evil in his timeline with the stuff he learned and the power he gained in the other timeline

@@MrPsychoticss Actually there was still a decent amount of people alive in his timeline after the andriods. It was when Goku Black came in that the number of survivors dropped to less than 1000. Andriods were more focused on having fun and doing whatever they want than killing humans. But Goku Black and Zamasu were focused on killing humans and intentionally fighting Trunks in order to raise their own battle power through zenkai boosts.
I still don't understand why King Kai didn't contact Trunks and then contact the Namekians to ask them to use Porunga to revive Piccolo/Kami so Trunks and Bulma could use the Earth Dragon Balls to wish back everyone who the androids killed. Obviously except Goku because it was a natural death. King Kai had contacted Bulma before just after the fight with Frieza, he could've done it again.

Like did cell have to kill trunks, all it did was get vegeta almost killed and made it so the multiple episode beam clash between gohan and cell would last longer. Trunks didn’t need to loose his timeline, you would be think the spirit sword would be enough as it destroyed zamasus physically body but no, zamasus soul then fuses with the universe somehow and then Zeno has to wipe it out.

Like all the effort, sweat and pain that Future Trunks had to go through just to protect his timeline was pretty much erased like it didn't happen.
The issue with that is it doesn't really change anything, everyone had been dead for too long they aren't coming back they likely have already entered the cycle of reincarnation. So realistically what does Trunks wish for? Maybe bring back the Kais but even with them it wouldn't have helped much, Shin would have tried to help but Goku Black or Beerus would have destroyed the world. Unless the dragon can brute force someone into a God if Trunks brings back Shin all he does is doom the earth even earlier than Black's arrival.
Though given Super was made with Toriyama only giving plot points I will say we don't know Toriyama's actual vision.

So Future Trunks would have been beating Goku Black like Vegeta did Goku Black and then Future Trunks would proceed to kill him because he wouldn't allow Goku Black to get stronger.

I have massive respect for future Trunks. Yeah sure, he's not as strong or flashy as the strongest db characters out there but he's the guy that carries the weight of the world, doing everything he could with the best of his ability to fulfill his duties. Honestly, he's probably one of the best (If not the best) written character in the dragonball universe.

There’s always gonna be a new threat around the corner so as Earth’s protector Trunks always has to be ready. Now what IS my issue with the arc is how they decided to have Zeno literally erase EVERYTHING Trunks spent his life trying to protect, only for Trunks and Mai to just hop over to a new timeline where everything is ok. All the friends and comrades they made along the way just gone and replaced with alternate timeline versions of themselves… It just feels wrong to me.

@@Minicario , Yeah that’s the main problem I had with it, but even without that issue, it still doesn’t make much sense that Goku black appeared in the future. But that is the main issue, Trunks didn’t win, he lost everything he fought for, and if trading in your own timeline for a better one was the solution he should have just packed upped and left the future for the present timeline. It seems like the fight was for nothing. Everyone died. He’s also a little bitch compared to what he was at the end of Z, a ruthless warrior who only cared about getting the job done by any means. In super he is weak, even his character design is weak. He lost all his gains, and you’d expect him to train harder after his encounter with Dabura and Babidi. His motivation was to be strong enough to always protect earth but he fails to get stronger. His character was massacred in super and he would have been better off never appearing. I liked Goku black and Zamasu as a character, but that’s about it.
Tthe way Goku black was created and how he decided to travel to the future for no reason makes no sense, especially since he got his body from an alternate goku, it made more sense to stay in that timeline and torment that goku’s world. But for no reason he travel’s to trunk’s timeline

So as someone who didn’t read the manga until after this, I was surprised and excited to see Trunks go SS2, and see an extension of his timeline after the events of DBZ

The sad thing is that with this victory, Trunks really did secure this future for practically forever. Even if Majin Buu was revived, it was shown (manga) that by his arrival in DBS that he honed his SSJ2 to Goku's SSJ3 levels without the stamina issues, meaning he very well at least possessed the raw power to destroy the Fat Buu. It was all sqandered all because of a rouge Supreme Kai not only from another timeline, but from a completely different universe to settle in. Even with the other events in DBS and when the Black Goku era takes place in his time, not even Moro seemed to have been an issue to arrive on Earth. The sad thing is, Future Trunks may potentially be doomed no matter what because without the Tournament of Power, Zeno was planning on erasing all the universes anyway. Unless that was a bluff.
What, you said Trunks by his arrival in DBS is as strong as ssj3? Bro, he obtained ssj2 during the revival of Buu so it wasn't honed or anything, Buu would murder Trunks if he was revived

I don’t think Zeno erasing universes would affect trunks unless universe 7 was erased. He’s still a universe 7 member but from a different timeline
@@kingades1013hes talking about the Zeno in Future Trunks timeline since we know Zeno also exists in that timeline. Since we know events of Goku's timeline will also happen in Trunks's timeline means Zeno without Goku's influence would've erased all 11 universes incl. Trunks u7.

The anime didn't show all this, but we can assume it happened. On the otherhand, the manga directly shows that Black chose Future Trunks' timeline because Beerus's death made it easier for him to take out all the mortals.
@@jantheking7028 Everything that was shown was literally what was shown both in the anime and in the manga, the broken Z sword, Shin's death, and Trunks' Super Saiyan 2.
@@eduardojadam Wrong, the anime doesn't show Shin's death or Trunks going SSJ2. Trunks also used a completley different move to defeat Dabura in the anime than he did in the manga.

Future Trunks is tough as fuck, he's suffers a lot, loses important people, and still stands like a champs!
'funfact': in the DBS manga, there's an extra panel at the end of volume that shows what happens to Old Supreme Kai and explains about why Future Trunks doesn't pass by the ritual to unlock the full potential...Unlike the main timeline, where he was released after the Z sword broke, here he dies because the Dabura's spit petrifies him, even though he's sealed in the sword! 💀
Honestly I love this part of the future storyline. When we take into account how much life was lost between the two timelines when they fought babidi and debura, the future timeline arguably took the least damage, at least they didn't lose even a single planet and I would argue that's more valuable than the life of the kais

When I played this dlc for the first time I almost started crying because the animation was so good
that cutscene was so good that I thought I was abt to get into the gameplay

I believe Trunks MIGHT've found a way... See, in Vegeta's royal bloodline, they become as strong as they need to be, even if it means utilizing a transformation that should not exist (Evolved SSBlue, Ultra Ego). I think Trunks could've pulled off Vegeta's Final Explosion... But Trunks would've actually obliterated Buu with nothing left out of EITHER of them, unlike Vegeta's (whose ki was unstable from the inbalance in his mind from regaining his own will vs. still being "influenced" by Babidi).
@@Fl0wchart unless trunks magically unlocked ss3 also which is doubtful. since no time to train and no more triggers since almost everyone he cared about is now dead... maybe if fat buu unalived bulma in front of trunks it would trigger ss3. lol maybe tho. cuz i think it didnt do anythin when zamasu did that.
