  • Finally installed the WN Custom Shop XL Pipe (de-cat) and British Customs Sleeper Pros slip-on mufflers on my 2022 Triumph T120. In Japan, my bike had EURO5 standards ... no longer.

      Yes Indeed! In the early 70s, my neighbor had an early Bonnie, and that was the sound seared into my brain when I got this bike. Yeah, the crank cadence is different, but the exhaust note is there. I don't drive all that fast any more, but 2500~3500 rpm is sweet. Cheers1

    I’ve also got that same year and color T120. Even have the Brown comfort seat with passenger backrest so my daughter can ride.
    Did the CAT delete with X-Pipe two weeks ago, and the BC Sleeper Pros are coming in a couple weeks. The X-Pipe transforms the bike. More sounds, more power, and flow. Just breathes better. And the BCSP’s should take it just a little step beyond.
    Well done and totally worth it. The ride quality improvement with the X-Pipe is so much better, even with stock pipes.

    I've never seen nor heard replacement silencers that sound better than the originals

      The only bikes I would say that about would be my 1972 Honda CB750 K2 or 1973 Yamaha RD350. Any of the 80s Kawasaki Mach triples, especially the early Mach III 500s also sounded wicked. All were my own experiences (at speed) in the early 80s. After those, my subsequent bikes lacked depth, IMHO, without a bit of help from the aftermarket. It’s not really a matter of decibels per se, but freedom. I honestly don’t even like the term “silencer” on a motorcycle …. for silence, I drive a Tesla Performance.

    My bro use the same X-pipe and Vance & Hine US with the dp killer removed but couldn't have the same powerful sound like this, meanwhile the other T120 from 2020 or 2019 use the same combo but had the exact powerful sounds as yours....

    Sounds great. I'm curious, mines a black, and wondering if since they only come in chrome, did the factory rear heat shield cover the free Spirit rear mid pipe? Otherwise I'll have to have them cerakoated.
    Planning on sleeper pros as well 👍🏻
    Also, did you have to take off both frame rails?

      Hey @Craig Dillon, sorry for not responding earlier. Left side frame rail completely off, and right side mostly off ... and a LOT of twisting and turning. I imagine it's best to take both frame rails completely off. Sigh.

    are these the same as the or made by Free Spirits and just branded WN Custom? i also already have the Sleeper Pros, you didn't answer the question about the heat shield covering the pipe because i also have a Black T120

    • @teslagaijin8672
      @teslagaijin8672  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey urbanfella, these WN came out before Free Spirits, and are a slightly different design, as far as I can see from pictures. Yes, the original heat shield / faux manifold covers the x-pipe and mid-pipe pretty well, but you will be able to see the stainless parts a bit. This unit was a LOT less expensive than the Free Spirits, and is probably just as effective. Cheers.

      @urbanfellavancouver ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teslagaijin8672 ty very much for you response...and your right the WN is about $200US less and $50US less for a Black version which Free Spirits does not offer, I can't imagine there could be any real difference in the performance, however Free Spirits guarantees the fitment attaches to all the same connections as original....did your WN?

    • @teslagaijin8672
      @teslagaijin8672  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@urbanfellavancouver I've no doubt the Free Spirits unit is more expensive for a reason. I had to "fiddle" a bit to get the WN on, as tolerances were not exactly spot-on. For me, was not a problem, but that's just me. The mid-pipes are not interchangeable with a pre-"welded" unit, but a dedicated fit to the WN x-pipe. As there is really no need to interchange, it's a non-issue, IMHO. Compared to all the work it takes to remove the welded cat, the "fiddling" was no big deal. Since nobody is gonna be looking at the X-pipe (except maybe a TH-cam audience, lol), The WN does the job. In fact, it might just be a slightly better exhaust unit, as it is not constrained by OEM design, but simple and straightforward. Only your Dyno knows for sure ... ;). Cheers! One last thing I did experience is that this X-pipe and the Sleeper Pros required no special mapping or fuss, I just did the cold-start/no-throttle warm-up procedure, and the computer did the rest. I have excellent throttle response and drivability, and heavenly sounds. Cheers! TG

Even he said it was a little tricky, taking off. The. Catalytic converter. I too don't see a need to have the bike dyno'd. The throttle response is very good and I'm happy at this point. @@urbanfellavancouver I'm really glad you are having a good experience. Free Spirits' shipping to Japan was crazy, and the WN from Thailand very reasonable. Good move to have it installed by a pro. I have a lot of wrenching experience, but without a lift, the job was frustrating. Indeed, an X-pipe with free-flowing exhausts makes the T120 sound very much like my 60s memories! Cheers!

    • @teslagaijin8672
      @teslagaijin8672  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is the same 2022 EURO5 as yours, and the parts are linked in the description. Depending on where you are, it might not be legal, but besides that, is kind of a hassle. A good shop with a lift and correct tools could install in an hour or so, but crawling under the bike on the center stand, took me all day. Caution: have carbon sleeves for mufflers AND the X-pipe inlet ready, as you could stall the process. Cheers!

      @@teslagaijin8672 I'm curious, did all of the factory mounting points work out with the center stand installed? Also wanted to make sure that the rear mid spacing is correct with the sleeper pros. Looking forward to this setup on my ride

    • @teslagaijin8672
      @teslagaijin8672  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thecraiginator Yeah, everything worked with center stand installed ... with a little coercion! This is such a complicated OEM contraption, I do feel sorry for the aftermarket folks. Suffice to say that my home install required a bit of "improvisation" to get some bolts connected. Again, a pro with a lift and tools and experience could do it with little hassle, but DIY on your knees and flat on your back can strain your patience, lol.

    Oh I see, Sleeper pros. Is that a brand, or a triumph product? I have almost straight slashed slip-ons. Loud too but totally different look. Also I have a 2005 t100.
