Had a ride of Crescents 560 demo and having ridden the 530 previously couldn't tell the difference
so bought a slightly used 530 DX and saved 5k, i'll look forward to see what you think.

I owned one of these for 2 years (a better looking 2016 model) and can confirm that they are probably the best and quickest off the mark scooters money can buy. Its engine is mounted low and up front in a motorcycle style and gives it motorcycle style handling once you get used to the smaller wheels and late tip in points on fast bends
It handled two up riding very easily and my wife and I used it extensively on the continent to visit cities, it being transported in a trailer at the rear of a motorhome. Easy to ride, powerful enough and the underseat storage a real bonus to lock away bike jackets
Had some Muppet not have knocked us off it in Spain, totalled the scooter and gave my wife an extensive leg injury we would probably still have it....
It suited our lifestyle perfectly but I always hankered after another large capacity bike for us to do more touring on and rekindle our earlier biking days. Never felt right having my feet forward and not being able to grip a tank with my knees. Whilst agile, stylish and sounding like a giant Flymo it was a scooter after all and is totally out of place back here in Britain I'm afraid. Great for cafe hopping in Tuscany and parking up for the day in Alicante but not for long days out on the busy A roads of the UK. Just my opinion of course....
Having bagged the cash from the right off the money was laid down in a BMW Motorrad dealership and I rode away on a new R1250 GS Exclusive. A far different bike and a new chapter in our lives
If you're looking at a scooter for commuting every day and you want to push on in city traffic then this is definitely the pair of wheels for you. Its very well made, cheap to insure and service and is the best in its class. It will do three figures with a pillion and cruise at 75 all day but above that I would be weary as I suffered a bit with turbulence when passing LGVs.

I've been a motorcyclist all my life but over recent years have ridden scooters, mostly 300 cc's.
They're ridden for a different reason from a bike and have to say that now I'm in my mid 50's the ease of riding plus other factors puts a huge grin on my face.
I'd love a T Max as see it as the Rolls Royce of scooters but sadly finances don't allow the purchase.
Great review but now we have an even newer T Max to consider

I'm interested in one of these
I got the 2 fastest scooters gilera gp 800 and a aprilia srv 850.
But quite fancy a newer technology scooter with the modern cons. Did have the new honda forza 300 what was ok but had more fun on the older shape forza 300. Could put my feet right up under. Has this got good leg room

Great comments. I'm also a former TMax owner who now has a GS plus some other bikes. I loved it, though too much weight on my cocix made it uncomfortable over longer distances. I'd also agree that it isn't so stable at higher speeds and with passing trucks. A 2.5 hr trip to Abergavenny highlighted that.

I haven't ridden the TMax but I do own a 2009 Suzuki Burgman 650 AN Executive (which as far as I can determine is no longer available - at least in Australia). As you recognise with the Yammie these maxi scooters are designed for and well suited to touring although they can handle the daily commute. I consider the Suzuki the benchmark of maxi scooters. The engine responds well to all situations so the bike can keep up with the sports bike and cruisers on the open road at 110km/h (the national speed limit in Australia). The one feature that I like is the electrically adjustable screen - when I coming into town or riding around town I can lower screen while riding and then raise it once I'm out on the open road again. The Yammie appears to have plenty of storage but I always feel a top box is a good addition. Thanks for the review - enjoy your ride.

They are great scoots, smooth and sophisticated for a scooter. Good performance, smooth engine & great sporty handling for a scooter. Luggage space and great brakes.
Downside is not so great fuel economy and difficult access for anything other than minor services. Ooh, bit pricey too..

I own a 2012 PCX150 and love it. I'm considering adding a TMAX 530 for freeway use and longer rides. I've just bought an ST1300 - without a test ride - but will be taking it back/or selling privately after one day and 5km, it's just too big and heavy, one shouldn't be filled with fear every time one goes out on a ride.

Hi Mark thanks for the excellent review as usual. I'm thinking about buying a used one and I wondered if you could offer any thoughts on the suitability of the suspension for the heavier rider - I'm 96kg in all my winter gear. I appreciate it's 4 year since your review. I currently have a Honda Forza 350 which is doing my back in with the inadequate suspension and bad condition of the uk roads.

@@markpulling12 Mark just to let you know I bought a 2017 DX version based on your review and I agree with everything you said, having owned it for a month. As I previously had cruise control, heated grips and seat 2 years back on my BMW R1200RT, I missed these accessories, until now!
My scooter had 12500 on clock but was in excellent condition with no rust whatsoever. Less than half price compared to a new '24 model. Although the CVT belt and pulleys usually need changing every 12500, in my case there was a Yamaha recall and changed at 4,700 miles, so not due yet.

Glad you have been showing an interest in scooters Mark! So many people who ride a geared bike dismiss this format of two wheels and don't see their advantages. I own a 2018 Honda Forza 300 maxi scooter and also a Honda CBF 600 SA motorcycle. I have always been interested in the T-max but their prices put me off and not prepared to pay £5k even for a 10 year old one with 20k miles on it. Here in London I see young guys riding these like they had stolen it (they probably did!) and these bikes are super quick around the town nothing much beats it and is a nimble and quick off the mark. My Forza 300 is nippy and agile and for £5k brand new it made sense to me and it returns 74 mpg in London which is pretty good. The T-max lacks space under the seat and looks odd with a top box which is again where the Forza 300 wins I believe. T-max wins on coolness though in my opinion! I still like to ride a geared bike and love learning about counter steering and clutch control etc on my other motorcycle. Scooters are great of day to day all year round commuting though. Anyway hope you enjoyed the ride / review.

I am probably the same as most riders on here, the price of the tmax, is a bit expensive. I hired a 125cc in Spain last year, and this is what’s put me in mood for a twist n go. TH-cam is brilliant for a guidance, but were are spoiled for choice. The scooter I want, will be for twos up, and there not one clip showing pillion on most scooters, and was wandering if a burgman 400 would be sufficient for my needs. I am 15 stone, partner 9 st. It’s a second bike for us, as I have a tracer mt09 clocking 40,000, and never misses a note. This will be my first scooter, so I want to pick the proper one for city, and mostly touring. You can't think of it his by its Cc's alone..it's a better touring option than a 1600 BMW, a lot more nimble, great in town and 100mph down the autobahn is dispatched with ease like 30mph is round town ..I can ride mine for as long as I can stay awake.it handles like a big bike totally planted and at 10.5k it's 5k less than many big tourers and that's the way to look at it

    • @SteveW67

daniel gregory Yes I agree some good points, can you tour two up with luggage as per 1600 BMW ? £11.5K for all bells and whistles, you can buy a Kawasaki 650 Versys with all bells and whistles and put £3k back in your pocket. They have there place definitely and I would commute on one if I needed to rather than a car but I think you get more motorbike for your money in comparison. Under seat storage is a very useful advantage over bikes. Maybe the 300/400 cc scooters are better value ?

@@SteveW67 I guess it's what you want from your bike..I have toured 2 up but need to add a big too box although side cases which are available for this model though not the earlier ones to tend to make the bike feel a little odd cos they are mounted higher..I rode big bikes all my life but driving for work meant I ended up with a spine problem and can't ride a normal bike and need feet forwards.since I'm not a lover of custom bikes I took a test on a T max and feel ive missed out for years discounting them as ride to work tools and in this capacity id buy a car but as an all rounder you would need 3 bikes to do what this thing does..but then I don't have a choice but as an example from 50 to 80 mph its as quick as any bike I've owned regardless of capacity which makes it a real tool at real world speeds!

Or just get a Yamaha XMAX 300. Only 6,200 USD, 75 mpg, 3.4 gal tank, 250+ mile range. 395 lbs. 0-60 7.2 secs, top speed about 90 mph. Plenty of room under the seat for two full helmets and a jacket. Real handy about town for shopping and great for commuting. Very comfortable for me at 5'7".

I have a Yamaha XMAX 300. Only 6,200 USD, 75 mpg, 3.4 gal tank, 250+ mile range. 395 lbs. Low center of gravity, very fun to ride. 0-60 7.2 secs, top speed about 90 mph. 5-position preload adjustment for the rear shocks. Plenty of room under the seat for two full helmets and a jacket. Seat is very comfortable for both the rider and the pillion. Real handy about town for shopping and great for commuting. Very comfortable for me at 5'7". Hard and soft luggage available. Great for about town 30 mph to 75 mph.
