You had warm and sunny weather in Bergen, Norway! A little miracle! :) I have hade the pleasure of travelling on the QE2, but my first encounter with her was in the Geirangerfjord. I am lucky to be able to call Norway my home country nowadays. I can only hope to travel on the QM2 some time in the coming years. I think I would choose to cross the Atlantic.
I was in Bergen on this 19th of July when I saw the Queen Mary 2 far from a hill, I couldn't believe my eyes. So I checked on an app if it really was her and decided to have a long walk only to approach her. I live near Saint-Nazaire where she was built.
A beautiful ship. Almost as beautiful as Queen Mary 1. Excellent video. It was a pity with the weather in Nordfjord(Olden). Better luck next time. I'm a norwegian and I salute you.
Rather smoother crossing of the North Sea to Stavanger than we experienced aboard "Brand VI" in 1956! But were able to sail to more remote harbours where QM2 would be too large. Unforgettable cruise I've remembered all my life.

Have travelled on the Queen Mary 2 about seven times in the last six years. She is a proper liner, designed and built specifically for the North Atlantic crossings. So stable even in the roughest of weathers. Unlike some of the other pretentious "Gin Palaces", you feel at home and not at all overcrowded. Our most memorable cruise was Southampton to Adelaide in 2012 stopping in Cape Town for two days on the way. The cruise lasted five weeks. We did visit The Fjords etc. about four years ago on the Marco Polo. That's another story!!!!!! But Norway etc. was stunning. The train journey in Flam was memorable.
I agree with your comments regarding Queen Mary 2 being a proper liner and I have experienced winter crossings aboard her many times. There aren't any "floating gin palaces" that can do it. The Mary is a fine ship, long may she continue to grace the oceans of the world.

The only mode of transportation that would be slower than a massive steam ship in narrow waters would be a tug boat. Have these travelers no where to go and all the time in the world to get there?? I get nervous hives just watching her move at a snails pace. But I am an American and we are not known for our patience when moving from one place to the other. Beautiful ship.

I went to Olden last September on Boudicca. What a fantastic sight the Queen Mary would have been.
I really like how formal and Titanic-esque she looks in shape and coloration. Very pretty ship she is.

Bergen is a lovely port with an old town and good transport to other places. A great view from the cable car vista point.

Is first or second whistle the Qm2?
The first whistle is QM2 then Boudicca replies. The low pitched whistle is QM2 and the high pitched one is Boudicca's.

There is local local transport but somewhat limited away from the bigger towns. Local ferries are excellent.
