I'm so glad Bob Dylan leaves the comments open on his music. I also feel truly blessed to share this life with one of the greatest musicians in world history. I seen you in Toledo in 2007 and it changed my young life. I stood in the crowd and seen a man who wasted zero talent that was given to him. I had read books about this musician before of course, and knew all about the public hardships he went through, but to see him on stage, knowing everything he has done and will continue to do, is beyond words. Glory to Christ for the talent that is Bob Dylan.

I love the instrumentation and that light percussion on this song. It almost is like a music box but somehow in a different sort of archaic manner. It is so unique and powerfully simple and nothing like anything for it's time. It's like walking down the street in your childhood on an Autumn day with the sunlight filtering through the golden leaves that aches to ponder what Winter will bring. God Bless Bob Dylan and his host of musicians. Just to witness this sort of genius is a pleasure.

It was mine as well during a time in my life many years ago where I allowed myself to be idealistic. The lyrics don’t resonate as much now but Dylan’s conviction in his singing here still is mesmerizing.

I was born in 1947. When I was in HS my coolest friend told me about Bob Dylan in the Village. From his first album I was interested in all he had to say in his songs. I soon was going to his NYC area concerts. With each decade he helped me get through my most difficult times I. my life. Today I'm so happy he is still with us all. I only wish that the people in high places the ones at the controls would understand his messages. Until then. Enjoy all you see and do. Thank you Bob Dylan. ps my grandson is named Dylan

But how long, babe, can you search for what is not lost?
    Everybody will help you
    Some people are very kind
But if I can save you any time
Come on, give it to me
    I'll keep it with mine
I can't help it if you might think I am odd
If I say I'm not loving you not for what you are
    But for what you're not
    Everybody will help you
Discover what you set out to find
But if I can save you any time
Come on, give it to me
    I'll keep it with mine
The train leaves at half past ten
But it'll be back in the same old spot again

A really great tune from the mid-60s. However, not releasing it on "Bringing It All Back Home" was probably the right move - it sounds pretty out of place when injected anywhere on that album. Always sounded like a good fit for the preceding "Another Side of Bob Dylan", though, if only it had been a bit earlier.

He also believed he was Irish. Like John Hurt the wonderful English actor who cried on Who Do You Think You Are? when he was told he was not Irish. He’d spent his whole life believing he was Irish which is probably why one his last and wondrous one man performances was in The Gate theatre in Dublin In Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape. I waited for him in the bar afterwards in a shabby red coat but he didn’t come. Probably gone off to be sick as he’d had to eat two yes two bananas onstage. John was hurt to be told we can’t locate your Irish blood and we’re a team of expert British and even actual Irish genealogists or at least that’s what we tell people for the purpose of getting to work on this popular programme. And the man in the greatest rock band in history, someone’s history, I’d say, Bono’s history told his mother he was going to call himself The Edge and wear a woolly hat that even his wife or doctors would never be able to remove.
