      The immersion was made possible because it was not reliant on surface-level physicality and technology, but rather the high level of artistry and quality of the actual content of the game in all aspects of consideration. This period of time was ripe for ingenuity and creativity, before we reached the saturation point.

      @@lemystere5345 We are far from the saturation point, there are lot's of innovate games still coming out. The Witcher series, Dark Souls, Baldures Gate, etc... The difference now from back then is how heavily commercialized it's become, back then games were made for gamers and developers had a vision and hoped it would make a profit. Now a lot of it is just an investment scheme, it's like the difference between starfield and starcitizen. Ones a vision backed by people who want to see it come to fruition, the others a vision backed by investors who want their return. One is willing to take a financially risky gamble the other is the opposite and that's reflected in the game.

    • @harrisondarby1333
      @harrisondarby1333 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@systemoverride2642tbh I think Skywind’s gonna be a bit too different to feel like a remaster; I think it will prolly *feel* like the remake it is. I’m hopeful that at some point a proper remaster gets made where the core gameplay and mechanics are entirely intact with A) animations that make the swings and misses more immersive (kind of most important, due to that simple thing being the whole reason it’s got a bad reputation with people who refuse to try it or tried it only one time) and B) just general touch-ups to bugs, typos, scripting, and graphics that one would expect from a remaster, without necessarily changing the fundamentals of the game or even the engine more than necessary.
      I will say, on Skywind, I’m deeply interested in seeing how they integrate both fully voiced NPCs as well as the dialogue screen, because, while some options were often redundant, Morrowind’s dialogue system did have a lot more depth than meets the eye, and it was incredibly rewarding to stumble upon a rare topic or a brand new response to the same topic in a place it might not be expected, or even better when a lore reason for a different response existed but you’d figured the devs were lazy (they were so much less lazy than Skyrim and Oblivion’s devs it’s kinda insane). That said, there no way in hell they haven’t trimmed the fat, which is why I’d prolly want it to still be textbased in such a remaster (or perhaps they could record all or a large subsection of the lines in a few distinct voices in traditional Bethesda fashion and superimpose them onto the already existing textbased system, as an option).
      Tl;dr: While I will 100% play and prolly love Skywind, I’d prefer a proper and slightly truer to the original remaster from the infrastructure of an actual studio along with the contributions of devoted fans.

My experiments before my first full run were vanilla, but my first run literally took place over a year irl (and in game too, weirdly) and I did need MGE and the MCP to keep my overstimulated modern senses pleased. Second run, modded almost beyond the pale, but I’ve since returned to a largely vanilla experience (albeit with Tamriel Rebuilt, which I’d consider a must play for anyone who loves Morrowind) and have even considered going through a full run 100% vanilla now that I’m so in love with the game that the enhanced visuals of MGE are irrelevant. All down to personal preference, and I hope you find your perfect balance and continue to get boundless wonder and joy from this borderline masterpiece.

    Not sure if elder scrolls 3 and it's sound trak was the best or if it's just nostalgia. Either way it holds a special place in my memory that later elder scrolls games haven't quite reached.
