Someone sat down one day, thought about this being a feature, pitched it, got it greenlit, got the animations, got the gameplay working, tested it and still said... yeah that's what the players want.
Nah it's clearly meant to give the player interaction time with the companion to help build an attachment and make players care about him. It's wasn't a terrible idea and it works for the first few seconds. Making it literally minutes long and repetitive qte was the failure. One or two would have been fine and would have been an opportunity to run alternate cinematics and make it feel like the outcome mattered at all. Like the rest of the game it's an okay idea done poorly

Tbh the only compliment I can make about this game is that they did manage to make Nix cute and his animations are endeering. I perfectly know they did that to sell merchandising, but forced to say they did nail that one aspect of the game. The rest is trash tho.

But not with QuickTime events for every single bite the customer takes. Yikes, as if feeding your sims in The Sims isn't hard enough sometimes, can you imagine if they did this in the next one? Imagine a survival game, like minecraft, but you have to cook the meal and then do a guitar hero style music game just to eat it before your character starves to death. If you misclick, do you bite your tongue? Chip a tooth?Repeat it enough, could that do enough damage to kill your character? This sounds like a better gameplay idea than whatever this video is showing, I'm not gonna lie. I'm just picturing a character missing and smashing food into their face now and it's hilarious.

@@GomiKeigo it does give you benefits though, this particular one gives nix the ability to kick away grenades in combat, there’s another one that gives nix the ability to distract multiple enemies at the same time and what’s the difference between it being done here and in Pokémon? I’ve literally never found it fun in Pokémon hence why I avoid the mechanics entirely there but least here you get a cute interaction to watch and if it’s the QTE part you don’t like you can turn it off in the options menu and just make it a cutscene.
you know how in every other game when a character eats they take like 1 or two bites and are done? this is why. im a 3D artist and i cant think of a single time where ive seen a character animated to realistically eat and finish an entire dish... i mean, ngl, it is done pretty well, the art and anims, but its insane to put that in a game and tie QTEs to it...

You actually gain reputation and possibly landing yourself in the officer academy. Slowly building your career in the Empire. Filled with many branching endings and outcomes. (Meaning if you fail too hard you can be killed or be dishonorably discharged and landed in a labor camp).

You could even have options where you stay as a spy or you try to defect and get caught or the Rebellion doesn't believe that you REALLY want to change sides. Could be interesting...🤔

the entire Outlaws experience from no stealth besides a crawl, no weapon but a blaster 95% of time it’s all like a fluff quest from a real AAA game @ $130🤣
you get gear upgrades and abilities to move faster during stealth, you can pick up enemy guns to use temporarily and also get new upgrades for the blaster. Nix can attack and distract, later on Nix can get an upgrade to even run up to a dude and trigger their grenade if they have one.
They thought they had a side quest like Yakuza would include. Unfortunately for Ubisoft, Yakuza has interesting characters and can make something like eating a meal into an epic adventure. This was just painful to watch…..
This is what I would like to call dead screen time (like in movies) where nothing is really happening and your wasting the player's time having them do nothing, especially as it pertains to the story

This is what I would like to call dead screen time (like in movies) where nothing is really happening and your wasting the player's time having them do nothing, especially as it pertains to the story
bad AI, bad stealth missions, bad shooting...but wow you can eat properly!!! AAAA game!
