Thanks for posting these videos, we are doing this (east to west) in April next year with our daughters (2022). We are doing it over ten days (roughly 8/9 miles per day). We are all experienced hikers & have a channel on TH-cam trying to get more families out and about. It will be an amazing experience for the kids.
For the first 2 mins, I had the video speed at 1.25. I thought, christ you must be on something. you have so much energy. :D Nice video, great to see. Would love to do this walk!
Hi Dean, enjoying this little series. At least I'm enjoying it from my couch and not walking until 1am, that's crazy! Murray and I walked the Wall in 2018 and actually stayed at the George Inn. There were some nice ruins across the road and a museum close by - you'll have to go back for another look :).
I had to leave you checked in at the backpackers in Newcastle as I was too tired and had to goto bed. Lucking forward to finishing off some time today, and then watching Richard Hubbucks videos too. long videos, but worth it

I have to say the scenery is breath taking, and you have captured it in your usually awesome style. Can't wait to get up there. Great videos! Stumbled across this series of videos you made by chance as I'd just been up to Hadrian's Wall filming a video for my channel yesterday. I hiked the Greenhead section. A lot tougher than I thought it would be, especially for a novice like me. Stunning views even in the Winter (I think I was just lucky!) Can't wait to see Part 3.

Brilliant video. You had great weather during part 2, especially at Sycamore Gap. There was a hint of sadness where last year I reached the part where you leave the wall to head north at 14:45 but it was nice to be part of a little documentary at that exact spot. A well presented 2nd part with plenty of info, a big thumbs up Deano :)
Thanks Chris, yeah I recognised the part where you were interviewed :-) I felt a little sad when we joined the PW at Greenhead as I know I need to get back and do it again myself. I'd been really looking forward to getting to the Hadrian's Wall section of the PW last year so i'm determined to start it again and get to Scotland next time :-)
Dean Read Tomorrow It will be exactly a year to the day when we were at that spot. Where does time go? That is one set of videos I will be really looking forward to watching, the concluding part of your Pennine Way adventure. I remember watching your vids several times to see what kind of terrain & weather I was going to be up against.
So nice to see the Crags area in decent weather - it bucketed down for a lot of my time in that area! I remember trying to take a video up at the trig point on Windshields Crag and it sounded like I was in a wind tunnel. Still had some good times though
Neil Holmes We were extremely lucky on day 3, that was the day I wanted the weather to be good and we weren't disappointed. It was the section i'd been looking forward to the most because of the scenery. Thanks for continuing to watch the series Neil.
Not a problem, thanks for uploading it, I'm impressed by the distance you covered on that day too, I covered the walk in 6 days and didn't do more than about 20 miles on any given day. I spent a fair bit of time in the museums along the way though.

....An excellent voice an natural style without an word spoken in irrelavence @Dean Reads adventures always worth an look see...Dean ventured past intresting landscapes with Roman settlements here in Edinburgh at Cramonds River Almond i could spot familiar fauna and flora strongly associated with Roman conquest those sweet smelling dew drops and sycamore trees...but wait an minute..? I know from the site in Edinburgh those Romans where somewhat afraid of the ancient britains as they readied by the sea to escape in boats at an moments notice from the Hyperboreans as we where known...Its also widely accepted Romes emporer castigated legions based in Britain in failing to subdue us..Clearly they feared the terrible reputation of Scots considered barbaric tribesmen hence Hadrains Wall but we didnt vote in the indy to vacate the UK either...You could yet be thankfull again...Dean please make it more than an adventure visit us again in Scotland because englishmen such as yourself are heartedly welcome...!!
Thanks for watching Eric, I really enjoyed the Trek along The northern most frontier of the Roman Empire. Such a wealth of fascinating history and I regularly drifted away and began imagining what it must have been like there 2,000 years ago.

Its an fact dean history is not always whats taught at school and Britains great outdoors can prove an real revalation if you simply take the time to get out there...Can i recommend an keen british historian called Francis Prior who has some very intresting programmes on You-Tube your audience may find Britains countryside all that more revealing with Francis Priors excellent revision of ancient britains history post Roman invasion...

Hi there, thanks for posting this video ! Iam in Australia and plan to walk Coast to coast following Hadrians wall in late September, can you tell me what to expect weather wise at that time of year, I would apprieciate any other advice you have to prepare for it - many thanks
Hi there, September is usually a good month here in the UK but make sure you bring waterproofs with you. The weather is always very changeable but it shouldn't be too cold. The best advice I can give is make sure you walk some miles / kilometres in the boots you plan to use during the Hadrian's Wall walk so they are fully worn in. Other than that it is a really great walk and I'm sure you'll have a great time, I'd love to do it again myself :-)

I was here last year with my partner and family who I got meet and same night he proposed to me that night were engaged 16th of October 2022 and going to visiting him this weekend and staying with them again cant wait
@@DeanRead it was most amazing time ever as it was my first time in cumbria where my other half comes from we been together as couple over 3 years but we couldn't meet before due to covid and lockdown restrictions and also my partner dad was not very well either and he had cancer and was going thru treatment and he was very weak and i got the chance meet him and wonderful time together as family and sadly eariler this year we lost him to cancer in april this year and at least one good thing is i got meet him and he got see his son and i happy and engaged which was one things he wanted for us and i went to visit them again as i promised and plan spend time together with them all for xmas tims
Just wondering if you've considered getting a drone to round out your gorgeous photography/videography. Some aerial views would be incredible, don't you think? (Maybe I'm just projecting because I want one so badly.)
Hi Laura, thanks for watching. I do have a Micro Drone but the video isn't HD sadly, I'd love to get a drone that I can attach my GoPro too. I'll have to start saving the pennies up :-)
It's survived pretty well, I was impressed with it. There is a Hadrian's Wall coast to coast cycle route I do believe, I think it runs just south of the wall so not sure what the views are like. Not sure about mountain biking the wall path, there are literally hundreds of gates and styles which would be a pain :-)
I'm sorry but did you actually PLAN to do 51 km in one day? It's an awfully long distance for a walk. Almost more of a chore I would have thought... Or have I miscalculated the miles? Don't get me wrong I think it's a heck of an accomplishment but why in such a hurry? It's just Madness ;-).... "Don't you worry, there's no hurry. It's a lovely day. Could all be going your way..."
Haha :-) we only had a limited to in which to complete the walk and due to campsites etc we didn't get as far as we needed to on day 2. That was kind of the reason why the 3rd day was a little longer than initially planned but it was still really enjoyable. I think if we had set off at 7 or 8am instead of 10am we would have arrived there at a more sociable hour. Thanks for watching, if I didn't it again I'd certainly make sure we had more time so I could linger at some of the great spots along the way
We've been thinking about doing the Hadrian's Wall Walk but we prefer to wild camp. Is that possible or would that get us into trouble? We're spoilt with the right to roam in Scandinavia but we know it's somewhat questionable in your neck of the woods and yet you guys contemplated it for a while...
I think you may get away with wild camping in the middle part of the journey of you camp away from the wall, a lot of the wall path goes through farmland so it might be risky

It was a GoPro hero 3 and a walking pole with an attachment on the end.

When you poked the GoPro over the wall at housteats there was a man with a dog and he wasn't happy
