The bar set very high with “This Here Ain’t Water” and “Sh!thouse”, but white-hot creativity keeps delivering inspired invention: the cathartic, defiant howl of “Desperate Breakfast” or the post-punk-psychedelic, disorientating refrain in “Dust Off / Start Again”… …and the words … one of the strongest, most distinctive literary voices in ages - rich in imagery and inference (from “Butcher’s Bin”: ‘no pay for strange labour’ would be a brilliant title for a novel) & here: ‘they sanctify the gold but not the tin’ - profoundly moving…
