    Out of the many ridiculous things the Philippine media says its proud of(for example: this celebrity's maid is 0.000001% Filipino...Proud to be Pinoy!) and most of them aren't even that special, its the martial arts and weapons the Filipinos should be the center of the Proud to be Pinoy trend... But nooooo they're mostly interested in cheezy Hugots(dunno the English word for it) and bad romance films... it's really sad

    • @minsan122
      @minsan122 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Edge of the Night im a filipino and i agree with you. Filipinos track down even the slightest filipino blood in you and then boom, they start worshipping you. And the romance films are just plain ridiculous. Its the same plot as any other filipino romance movie but with different actors and actresses. They would rather ignore the martial arts and our weapons which we should be proud of.

    Moro rebels in Southern still use their deadly "Barung" against Philippine government forces. History says the Tausug's Barung could literally broke Spanish muskets into two when hit by this bladed weapon. I think the Visayan Talibungs were meant for slashing and stabbing while that of the Tausug's Barung were for cutting off the body parts of the enemies in combat. Its no wonder the US Army's Colt .45 pistol was produced because of its stopping power to counter the deadly Barung weilding Tausug fanatical Juramentados during the Fil-American war.

    • @talimatkultura6311
      @talimatkultura6311 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually its more of the suicide attack of the juramentado that lead to .45 caliber pistols and buckshot shot guns to stop a charging juramentado.

    I have a question about weapons. I know that there is the Tabak Toyok or the Nunchaku for the Japanese. I was wondering did the Filipino's have a weapon like the Three section staff? The Japanese call it the sansetsukon and to me it seems to have the functionality of the Baston and the Tabak Toyok in one. I was wondering if there is any connection. Geographically China/Okinawa and the Phillipines are all relatively close. Personally I think the way Filipino's fight with their weapons is how the three section staff was meant to be used and not the spinning flourishes you see in Wushu. I think three section staff is a misnomer because it functions more like flail then a staff.

    we call those "itak" here in the philippines, i still have and still use my grandpa's itak. it's one of my most prized possessions the pommel is made from nara carved into an enclosed fist and the blade has our family named engraved using the filipino native language of "Alibata"

    • @kalicenter

    • @MementoMori1001

      Ramza Beoulve no. talibong originated in visayas and the ilonggos call it talibong. Itak is a Tagalog word for all short swords.

    • @Tax_Buster
      @Tax_Buster 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      "Alibata" is an incorrect term for the native writing system. The correct term for it is "Baybayin".

  • @sugarcoated5693

    Very nice reproduction blades. I'm assuming the locality of those blades are from Pozorrubio Pangasinan Philippines, which your Guro commissioned to make for him. Authentic Talibung swords are coming from Aklan the Visayan Province. Usually they dont look like that. Google the word " Talibong Aklan " in images. You will see how it really look like. What you have is not an authentic talibong sword.
