- Sky News host Caleb Bond reacts to Australian athlete Liam Adams missing out on the Olympics as a “universality” entrant is put in his place.
“Maybe I’m missing something here, I thought the idea of the Olympics, the pinnacle of athletics in the world, is that the best in the world go over there and represent their countries," Mr Bond said.
“No, no, no we don’t do that, we’ll let the first 70 best in the world represent their countries, and then we’ll just have some also ands make it in because they happen to come from a smaller country.
“How does that work?”

I haven't watched the Olympics since 2004 when it came to Greece and I have not cared about it since and I am now glad I did not waste my time caring about it over the last 20 years.
Same, who cares about the Olympics anyway. Do prefer watching AFL footy or NRL rugby and BBL cricket a lot more, we are Aussies.

Athletics Australia and our State (NSW) have mandatory Transgender Policies.
Every time(year) you sign up for membership (event) your are required to tick the "Accept" box.
Most people don't bother to read the whole 4 pages.
So they have no idea that the Policy is tucked away(hidden) in the last few sentences.
You can't complete Registration if you don't tick "Accept" box.

I haven't bothered to watch the Olympics in more than twenty years, and then it was only the Winter Olympics I watched, but I'll definitely not be watching this year's clown show.

Sorry, sport is no longer about merit. My condolences to all true sports people. Put the universzlity athletes into their own catergory, gives them experience but doesn't take away from the idea of excellence in sport.
If the IOC does this , then they should have a cut off time. Dont complete the Marathon within a set time , then you are pulled from the course by the officials
So someone is saying that the answer to one distortion is to further distort the original distortion? Does that not normally make the entire situation worse? Like the Personal reviews we all are subject to nowadays, it has been established by Universities specialising in management that not only do these interviews reveal more about the interviewer than the interviewee, the more you try to “correct” that outcome the more the system becomes skewed the wrong way.

Why not take the best 80 and then add a 10 mediocrity bunch…
Yes its a great opportunity to represent your country at the Olympics, but when you're ranked 70-80th in the world, there is zero chance (unless you're using PED's now) to place and win medals. So of you it's just another competition. Lets face it, Liam Adams is 37 (38 in September) its not like he's a 20 y/o runner who has time to mature as an athlete and possibly become one of the greatest runners in the coming years. Liam is a Masters athlete.
That's not the point.
Imagine you're applying for a job with 10 positions available, and you're given a set of conditions you have to meet in order to get the job and then you'll be ranked and the top 10 will get the positions. You do everything you need to do, you work hard, and you place 8th, so you'll get the job. Then you get told 3 days later that actually no, you won't get the job. Instead your position will be given to someone who placed somewhere in the hundreds for the sake of diversity.

Any athlete 30 years or over is a Masters Athlete!.
There are plenty of athletes, across the Sports represented, over 30 years old in the Olympics!!
