SPOILERS: Welp, I guess it's pretty obvious I hastily put this video together right after finding out I'd have to go out of town expectedly for some family medical stuff. Yes, Fleshformer can use it's ability more than I said, and Reality Twist and Naked Singularity should be flipped, since Twist doesn't affect islands.
it's still pretty bad though as with how many islands it's going to cost you won't be able to keep it around for very long and if you're up against a blue deck you're SOL
@@prmperop Will you ever recover from my typo? Did my misspelled word traumatize you? I promise that I will continue to make spelling errors while drunk. So, be warned.
Naked Singularity is occasionally seen in Vintage MUD decks as an additional stax piece. You don't care that your mana is colored and you have stuff like Metalworker to keep it in play indefinitely.
A couple of errors in this video. Fleshformer can activate as many times as you want, but only on your turn. Reality Twist doesn't affect Islands, so you can probably still pay the CU just as easily as Naked Singularity
4:25 Fleshformer isn't restricted to just once per turn; just can only be activated on your turn. Still deserves its spot on the list either way! 9:00 If you read Reality Twist carefully, it does *not* change what type of mana Islands tap for, only everything else! Since Islands still *do* tap for blue mana, it should be number 2 and Naked Singularity should be number 1. Still a terrific video!! Looking forward to the next one ❤
I feel like they're both very near equally bad. Twist comes down earlier but because of the cumulative upkeep, unless you had a million mana to sink into it, it'll almost immediately die anyway. You can run Twist in mono blue without messing up your mana, but it also means that if your opponent is also blue, they'll still be able to play things.
One thing Sphinx of the Guildpact has going for it is that it's the best 5c identity creature at uncommon rarity, making it one of the few options PDH has for the color combination.
Kind of sloppy on this one. Reality twist doesn't do anything to islands, so it's not harder to pay than it was to cast. Still a terrible card. Also, fleshformer can be activated as many times as you like, as long as it is your turn.
4:22 Fleshformer can be used multiple times a turn. It just has to be used during your turn. It's still a weird restriction for an ability that isn't that good
I have twice played Naked Singularity in EDH games entirely for the sake of trolling the rest of the table. Was it a good move? No. Was it memorable? Quite so.
It's gotten worse over time with the addition of so many non-land type duals. It's unlikely to shut off any multi color decks entirely these days. It used to be a 1-2 turn tempo piece but sadly just sucks now.
Idk.. I think I'd swap twist and singularity. They're both terrible, but twist doesn't modify islands, so it could reasonably be run in a very desperate monoblue deck.
Yeah my dog didn't read the card lol. It "messed up your mana too"... but not your blue mana, so it doesn't affect your ability to pay the upkeep at all
Transguild courier was great in Coalition Victory decks before that card got banned in commander. Having it in play then casting Gaea's balance to get 1 of each land set you up nicely for C.V.
Correction on the Fleshformer: You can use it multiple times a turn: but only during your turn. If you can generate a bajillion mana, you can wipe the board and have a massive creature at the end of it... but by then you've probably already won anyway and Fleshformer is just icing. Funny that you cant do it at instant speed... so you cant save it with its ability and you cant snipe creatures with it during your opponent's turn For Meeting of the Five... I wish that instead of adding that much mana, it just said: You may cast those cards without paying its mana cost Also, with Reality Twist, it doesnt affect Islands... so if youre a Mono Blue deck, you wont have trouble with that mana cost and youre not affected against Reality Twist's effect. Does it make it any better? Err... not really...
The 9 and 10 slots on this list are actually two really strong commanders for PDH, or pauper commander. Any uncommon creature can be your commander in that format and Sphinx of the Guildpact especially is immune to almost 100% of removal and boardwipes in pauper
Naked Singularity and Reality Twist are underrated. If you're running all five colors, you can run Solemnity to disable the Cumulative Upkeep. The real question is, however, what if you have both of those cards in play? One makes mountains produce [U], the other makes mountains produce [W], so what mana will the mountains produce?
I believe that if the ability to tap for a certain color of mana comes from the land type, then Naked Singularity will affect its mana. I believe that most lands with multiple land types do rely on their land types to produce their mana, but I might be wrong.
From the rulings on the card: "If a land has more than one basic land type, the player tapping the land for mana can choose to produce mana of either color."
The land would just produce the two colors directed by Singularity instead of its normal colors. Trioms would always be able to produce at least one of its normal colors of mana.
In a colorless deck, naked singularity can be a way of disrupting your opponent even if for only 1 turn. You dont have to pay the upkeep cost. Its kinda like making opponent lose a turn, also you can keep it around for extra effect.
I had naked singularity in my mud/metalworker/urza's land deck. It was hilarious to be able to pay for it for rounds and rounds while locking most out of playing anything.
I built a Tron deck back before anyone ever called it Tron. It was a white artifact deck. It also had Akron Legionnaires and Colossus of Sardia. But the Naked Singularity was definitely in there...the vast majority of my cards were colorless, and I had mana lands and mana rocks to keep it around. It wasn't a great deck, but it did make folks groan when that thing hit the table. And these days, there's ways to remove the counters.
Reality twist doesn’t mess up islands. It’s the main difference that it only messes up your opponent’s mana pool. The cumulative upkeep on this is terrible, but it has an effect that isn’t symmetrical if you run mono blue.
I'd completely forgotten about Naked Singularity. Given what it does, you'd think it would have had major impact on the storyline, but as far as I can tell it's had no effect on anything.
In spite of him reading it wrong, I still think Fleshformer is exactly where it should be on this list. Would you rather sink 2B + WUBRG to get that effect once, or just slam an Elesh Norn for 5WW and get it until she leaves the battlefield? I think i know what I'd pick 99.999% of the time
I used to play Transguild Courier back in the day, and managed to win games by combining Might of the Nephilim and Psychotic Fury with an unblocked golem. Take 3? No, take 13 points first strike damage and 13 points regular damage for 26 damage total.
Nizzahon’s Top 10 worst lists are a guilty pleasure of mine 😂 … a few older kids gave me some of their junk cards when I was growing up so I had a lot of them 😆 … I trust Nizzahon’s MTG judgement and to have done his homework to line up some delicious oddities for me to gawk and snicker at ❤
The art looks amazing and when i saw it for the first time i was really curious about how great of an effect it must have, until disappointment struck. What a cool concept and what a terrible execution.
Ahhh 5 colour cards, I love them, even if it's starting to become a lot less punishing to use them. I desperately wanna make Naked Singularity work in a deck, not quite as much as I want "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)", but still a lot!
Play Chronatog, Naked Singularity, Stasis, Kismet. Use the Chronatog to eat your turn on your opponent's turn so you never have to pay upkeep and make them draw out.
If number 6 on a worst list is a three-mana (2 and a colored) 2/2, I think that's a pretty stacked list. That's a vanilla 2/2 creature, adding a usable body to the board, at a slightly overcosted rate.
By the "if you don't have one mana of each color, the abilities dont do anything" logic, surely this is true of any card that costs 1 mana of any color in the first place? So by that token, Worldheart Phoenix and Fleshformer can do more than a lot of cards on the TOP 10 lost, by being castable even without 1 mana of each color.
I'd personally swap reality twist and naked singularity - while both are terrible, reality twist is at least a blue card that doesn't effect blue sources, so if your playing it in mono-blue your at least not messing with yourself and can theoretically make it one-sided. meanwhile, naked singularity effects all basic land types and has a higher buy in, meaning your gonna be messing yourself up no matter what.
Unironically, I run Prism Array in my Ramos Dragon Engine proliferate deck. Its instant speed denial for a lot of threats. The deck is purposefully jank though.
Surprised to see kaleidostone on the list. It's not the best egg/nut, and we've consistently been getting better ones in the last few years, but it's serviceable enough, especially in singleton and historically speaking.
Nizzahon, I just wanted to point out that Keliadestone (I hope I spelled that right) was one of the back-bone cards in extended "Eggs" decks around 2009-20010. I don't think it really deserves a spot on this list. Based on your usual logic this card has seen plenty of wins in it's day and shouldn't be considered one of the worst 5 color cards. Thank you for your consideration. -Rizz
Meeting of the five is such a depressingly shackled card and considering how wotc has been more then happy to print busted 5c cards and tons of ways to make playing 5c decks piss easy, it almost seem unfair how they decided to make sure that card specifically couldn’t actual do anything even in the most gimmicky of decks.

Reality Twist is what doesn't affect islands. Naked Singularity does.
I hope everything goes well.
for your own good could you just slow down the rate of your videos it's both better for the content you create and your own health
Thank you for the context, well wishes things go well
Hope everyone comes out of the other side of the family medical stuff safely and that you're holding up ok
While Reality Twist is awful, it doesn't effect Islands, unlike the Singularity. Makes the upkeep *slightly* less painful.
Yah a bit of a mischaracterisation of this card 😂😂

Right? It's basically a blue ritual of subdual (except the 5c identity is a drawback) plus it goes great in mono blue (but 5c) eon hub shenanigans
it's still pretty bad though as with how many islands it's going to cost you won't be able to keep it around for very long and if you're up against a blue deck you're SOL
@@prmperop Will you ever recover from my typo? Did my misspelled word traumatize you?
I promise that I will continue to make spelling errors while drunk. So, be warned.
Not that it makes the card much better, but Fleshformer's ability can be played more than once per turn, it just can only happen on your turn
Fleshformer can be activated any number of times at instant speed, but only on your turn. It's not a once per turn.
Reading cards is hard apparently
Naked Singularity is occasionally seen in Vintage MUD decks as an additional stax piece. You don't care that your mana is colored and you have stuff like Metalworker to keep it in play indefinitely.

Clicking on this, I thought it was an April fools video about the 5 worst colors in Magic 😆
Let's be real, that would have been an awesome play
@@chernoalpha3445more like "5 worst shades of blue"

I originally read the title of this vid as "The WORST 5 Color's in Magic" and thought it was an April Fool's video.
6:25 I’ve literally never seen this card before - Meeting of the Five. It doesn’t even let you cast any of the Ultimatums. 😂
“best I can do are five 2 drop 'hybrid mana and a base color' creatures from Alara Reborn”
I played begin the invasion, got every battle out, and ending up decking myself after all the ETB
It's not about winning. It's about sending a message
Transguild courier was great in Coalition Victory decks before that card got banned in commander. Having it in play then casting Gaea's balance to get 1 of each land set you up nicely for C.V.
Reality Twist is way better than the card before as it doesn't change what Islands produce.
I just played some omniscience draft and sphinx of the guild pact was an all star, Nizzahon really forgetting to account for the high skill formats
hey reality twist doesnt replace islands.
Correction on the Fleshformer: You can use it multiple times a turn: but only during your turn. If you can generate a bajillion mana, you can wipe the board and have a massive creature at the end of it... but by then you've probably already won anyway and Fleshformer is just icing.

Is fleshformer once/turn it said only on your turn activated
Sphinx of the Guildpact is one of those cards I speed-read and assumed it said “protection from mono-color” and didn’t throw into my bulk box.
The 9 and 10 slots on this list are actually two really strong commanders for PDH, or pauper commander. Any uncommon creature can be your commander in that format and Sphinx of the Guildpact especially is immune to almost 100% of removal and boardwipes in pauper

It would be determined by whichever effect entered the battlefield most recently, I believe.
Cast solemnity and then play naked singularity in your next EDH game to lose all of your friends!
How would the top 2 work with non-basics with the land types? Especially ones that have abilities say to tap for a specific colour.
I believe that if the ability to tap for a certain color of mana comes from the land type, then Naked Singularity will affect its mana. I believe that most lands with multiple land types do rely on their land types to produce their mana, but I might be wrong.

Which precon was Begin the Invasion from? Its from the MOM commander set, yet isnt in any of the precons since its all 5 colors
I belive it was in collecter boosters
Does anyone else ever think “I should make an EDH deck around all the worst cards nizzahon picks?”
Reality twist doesn’t mess up islands. It’s the main difference that it only messes up your opponent’s mana pool. The cumulative upkeep on this is terrible, but it has an effect that isn’t symmetrical if you run mono blue.

Would meeting of the five still hit those cards that cost one mana of a particular color and one hybrid? Like Grixis grimblade?
Yes, as they're three colors.
@@NemisCassander maybe not as bad then. Still seems like a chore to build, but could hit and play way more things with cards like that.

I wonder if there are enough bad board wipes to do a top 10 on them?
I would have picked Cromat myself. Very disappointing legendary.
Fittingly, today's daily deals in MTG Arena are all styles for 5-color cards. None of the ones in this video are there, of course.
Fleshformer would still be horrible but would be really interesting if the 5 mana ability was a recursive revive cast just like Worldheart Pheonix.
I’d love to see a video about cards that are terrible in one format but actually kinda work in another whether that was design intention or not 🤔
It isn't a top ten, but I did a Nizzanotes video on effects that are good in constructed and bad in Limited.
Naked singularity is good with a hoblin artificer
Just run Naked Singularity in a deck that blinks artifacts I suppose.
Oh wow the art on Fleshformer though
Reality Twist doesn't mess up blue
Fleshformer doesn't say once per turn
Begin the Invasion art goes hard though
Probably 1 and 2 should be swapped since islands are not affected, so it's pretty good for blue only decks.
By the "if you don't have one mana of each color, the abilities dont do anything" logic, surely this is true of any card that costs 1 mana of any color in the first place? Purposefully jank sounds like a lot of fun to play in a casual game. I'm not sure how playing a purposefully jank deck woud *not* be ironic though.

Reality Twist doesn't mess up with blue.

Half of these cards aren't even 5 color. They just mention all 5 colors or have 5 color abilities.
The top two cards aren't 5 color. Neither of them require you to pay all 5 colors to cast or activate.
They have a five-color identity. That was the requirement for the list.
Wow I wonder how many times Fleshformer can be activated each turn. I’m sure this comments section can be helpful a normal amount.
Meeting of the five have suck cool art why it had to be this bad 😭
Sphihx of the guildpact is good in pdh.
