I guess Sonic is depressed because all the newer games are doing terribly or getting received terribly at least. Once we thought there was no hope, Sonic Mania was born, which shows there is still hope
Then came forces,it was short but a good game,yet it was received terribly,luckily the sonic movie didn't get the forces unfair judging and was a powerful hit.

The blue guy has had a _pretty successful_ past in the _video-game industry..._ and at one point, he even held his own against Mario _(and even surpassed him, at that)._ His fans gave him tons of support back then, which in turn... created the fuel needed to support his future. But after *_Sonic Heroes, Sonic 1 (GBA), Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic 06..._* that's when things started to take a turn for the worst. _[Specifically for the fan-base.]_ If that's what the point of this game was, then _GG_ to the creator of this game. Hopefully this'll teach those overly-dedicated *Sonic-Fans* to appreciate the game's they've recieved over the years, whether they're good... *_or bad._*
I know it is. (I'll clarify a bit more on the why, tho.) Sonic Heroes is a good game overall. The only thing I find as 'odd' was the revival of Shadow the Hedgehog. Shadow was supposed to remain dead in the original Sonic Adventure 2, but SEGA decided to bring him back... for impossible reasons. I mean... besides "Shadow the Hedgehog (the game)" and "Sonic 06"... they never really DID anything with him afterwards. He gets portrayed as an "edge-lord" in the later games (especially in Sonic Boom), and the fact that he's portrayed as such doesn't make any sense, either. Shadow had a change of heart in Adventure 2. But then afterwards, he loses his memory in heroes, then gets it back by tripping on acid (because there's NO way anything you do in Shadow the Hedgehog really matters, because it's all not canon, anyway. Only the first cutscenes you see in the game & the true ending of the game is canon), and then in Sonic 06 he goes back in time to... what??? Witness Solaris separating for the first time??? And then soon discovering that he will eventually get sealed up for being a massive threat to everyone in the future, anyway??? It's complete bull!!!! My problem doesn't lie with Sonic Heroes in terms of Gameplay or its overall plot. Just... the revival of Shadow. It could've easily been something better than this. In fact... Sonic Heroes, "Shadow the Hedgehog (the game)", and Sonic 06 could've been a character arc for shadow. Heck, even Sonic 06 would've benefitted from this if they shifted more focus on shadow instead of Sonic. I mean think about it... "Shadow x Elise"? That would be stupid, but... they both lost the people that they were close with. Elise won't have to kiss him, though. (Not to mention that Shadow... works for the government in that game. **sigh** )
And to add... since shadow-- no-- Team Dark works for the government, shouldn't it be THEIR job to keep an eye on the princess? If anything... it works for the context of the story, too. I mean... if the president of the United States has body-guards, then shouldn't the princess of soleanna have a loyal escort? Or rather... THREE loyal escorts? Think about it. In Sonic 06, Sonic is running around with the princess in tow. And as far as we know, the guards are too stupid to even keep an eye on her themselves. So why not have Team Dark take care of her? Not only will they be able to get to know her, but... they'll also be able to understand each other as well. It's the perfect way to develop every character properly, and it's ultimately the best way to conclude a... mostly coherent story. I could dive into it a bit more, but... I have a feeling that I've already said enough. Sorry if I sounded like a nerd... 😳

I believe this is suppose to represent how Sonic's past was left behind before Sonic Mania came along to relive the classic era with a brighter tone instead of a depressing leftover that Sonic Team doesn't acknowledges up until the current days, quite a neat concept tbh. I think Sonic Unleashed was a pretty okay game too. I still have it for Xbox 360 at the least.
