That's how my current twin turbo monstrosity came to be. I started with removing the engine to give it a little refresh (gaskets, bearings, rings, etc.). Then I got a TIG welder, and it quickly evolved into my Frankentruck.
Glad you pulled the engine and are doing what needs to be done. One of my biggest regrets with my 09 STI was not diving deeper when I replaced and fixed a bunch of stuff in the engine bay because less than 2 months later I was pulling the engine, getting the heads decked and replacing every gasket and seal. Can’t wait to see more on the blob eye by far my favorite out of your current collection.
Just did the dsg service on my tdi. Definitely get the service funnel from amazon. It’s cheap and attaches to the bottom of the trans and gravity feeds. Much faster than filling from the filter housing.
Just found your channel and watching all the STI vids... Your OCD cracks me up😎 I'm not even a big fan of imports, but your passion for Subarus is admirable and entertaining!!💯👍👍
A detailed engine disassembly and assembly would be awesome cuz I pulled my first ej parts are taking longer than expecting and imma forget where all the bolts go lol

I have a mostly stock 2016 legacy 3.6r (ez36)... What's the story behind the really high cold idle? When I bring it into the garage at work, it's impossible to position the car with fine movements.. Half of the problem is the crappy brakes the dealership installed (I bought the car used 6 months ago) which are sticky in a bad way. There's no "inching" it forward.. And when I leave work, the throttle has two positions.. Release the brake with no gas and crawl at 1-2km/h or touch the gas pedal and it rockets to 25km/h ++ in the parking lot. There's no in between. Is that a tune fix? Or a cvt thing... Great content, great channel. Maybe sometime you can work on a ez36.. Give us Legacy and Outback guys an idea of what we can do with our platform.
I wish i had the equipment and skills like this. I had many cars and my 18' STI is the by far the most fun I ever had out of a car. It's running into constant issues and I just have to part ways with it soon :(

Spun a bearing and replacing the block with a built block and refreshing the heads bolt ons with stock vf52 made 336hp 352tq flex fuel e85 happy with were it is and not planning on changing anything still on the 5 speed. I was thinking of using the new oem head bolts or even the type ra headbolts rather than the arp.
