they started hams on softs probably because he wanted to atleast overtake verstappen in the earlier laps of the race but the tyre deg was much more brutal than they expected and they had to pit him earlier than everybody else.. he couldve stayed out on those tyres atleast some more laps but he would still be an way too early pit.. i think they just wanted to get it over with.. they depend all of their stats on hams being a great driver and him getting a little lucky
I've said it before an I'll say it again , Giving Oscar P1 in that one race will hurt Lando and will surely play into him getting stressed and fumbling in upincoming races.

Gotta mention how Hulk was catching Alonso in the 2nd half of the race but had to settle for defending P9 against Perez. He would’ve caught Alonso but wasn’t worth the push, his tyres were gone too, and considering how Alonso’s were 5 laps older is crazy

And as for Verstappen vs Norris, either driver will be a deserving champion at the end of the year. Both have a mountain of a challenge to overcome. Norris needs to win all of the remaining races (Hamilton has only ever done 5 in a row himself too) and Verstappen will have to drag his tractor to p2 (given norris wins every point available to him) ideally to hold onto the championship. As a McLaern fan, I’m excited to see the outcome in a few months and props to whoever wins it out of the two.

I don't think any team can catch up with the McLaren, but Red Bull has been on an upward trajectory since Baku.. The thing is, all teams are probably going to have upgrades before Austin, so I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make if all the teams find a bit more pace before then... I think the WC depends on Piastri and on whether he will make way for Norris. If Piastri races to win, then Norris will have a problem, at least at some of the circuits.

Just bring the car home in P2 while Lando wins every race (which is a stretch) and it can be done. But there’s also guys like Charles, George and Lewis who are capable of winning if their cars permit them.
