Things got really hard for Ms. R&B after this, so it's very bittersweet. I hope someday she gets rediscovered and her music can finally be celebrated the way it always should've been.

PBS taped the show I don't know if you can still see it on you tube or some other way it's worth a try I saw the show 3 times when it was on Broadway and Ruth Brown was superb she's no longer with us I met her at a cabaret that she was performing at what a charming lovely woman
Ruth fought hard and succeeded to get royalties that she was cheated out of paid to herself and other artists from record sales in foreign countries she also confounded an organization along with Bonnie Raitt and one of the execs from Atlantic Records that provided awards and money for forgotten legends a lot of these people were broke Ruth is in show biz heaven partying with her buddies from what they used to call the chitlin circuit this where a lot of black performers entertained mostly black audiences in the fifties Ruth was the queen of that circuit and the jukeboxes inthe black community
I find It sad that most actors from 30-40 yrs ago that were nominated or even won a Tony we simply never hear from them ever again. It really is a long hard life if you can actually stay employed.
Which makes it all the more sublime that Charlotte D’Amboise is still headlining as Roxie Hart in Chicago from time to time. Saw her in February alongside Jinkx Monsoon, and she was phenomenal.
