I remember a suggestion in the rogue discord about scroom speech. The suggestion was you would be able to use scroom speech by typing something before your message, ex: /s like this. The message would pop up as gibrish to anyone who doesn’t have scroom speech but anyone who does have it would be able to understand it. It seemed like a really cool suggestion.

Compilation of my favorite ideas from the comment section partially mixed with my own: Fungdead wraith has a bit lower of a day req and requires a cursed tag Scrooms can global chat with other scrooms while decomposed Scrooms can use scroomspeak so nobody else can understand them if they don’t know it (should be added for dragonspeak too!) Tunnel should move a bit faster than sprint (not as fast as mana run) so it’s more viable as normal transportation Scrooms should get some passive hunger while on grass/dirt (imo you should still need to decompose on other materials) Don’t give scrooms strong mind, just immunity to evil eyes (they have no eyes) and grippo (they are naturally chaotic) Make scrooms have the opposite of one of vind’s passives, spawn them with 1 chaotic to assist orderly farming B) Maybe make them deal more damage with earth spells (viribus) as well for more versatility? More colors (purple, orange, maybe black/white) Give different colored scrooms detoxify different elements like old purple kasparans? (Only wild ideas left, may return and edit this comment later)

Spore spread: spread spores that root into the ground, creating random color scroom heads that pop out after some time as scroom npcs. They act like shriekers with very low health and slow attack speed, basically a budget necromancer. Can also be used for hiding in decompose
If I had to personally come up with changes for scroom, I think I'd want to feed into the idea of scroom being a beginner-friendly race who relies on passives, but still enable it to thrive in the meta. Personally, I would add several passives / abilities, including: -Buff poison damage by 15% or even 20%. If the scroom is going to fit into the "toxic earthen fungus" niche then we're going all out. I know that scroom has trouble fitting into playstyles but I think that making things like Druid more viable for it is still important. -Spreading Spores, a passive ability which would cause scrooms to apply about 3-4 seconds of poison when hitting an M2 or block break, as well as filling an enemy's toxicity by 1/12. This would enable scrooms to amplify their combo damage and make the previous buff more universal. (Note: In the case that a scroom is using an emerald, spreading spores would simply multiply the length of the poison by 1.2x) -Flora Absorption, a passive that allows for scrooms to quickly consume flowers for small amounts of health regeneration. While they are regenerating, they do not lose hunger. Additionally, different flowers may cause different effects if y'all are into that. -Spongy Exterior, a passive which nullifies 40% of all fall damage, further enabling scrooms to fling themselves off of cliffs to their hearts' content. -Rooted, a passive which would let scrooms keep their hunger stagnant while standing on any decomposable material. -Caustic Consumption, a passive which makes decompose provide hunger faster depending on how much toxicity you have. -Let scrooms cancel decompose within the first second of the animation, to prevent accidental uses screwing over players & allow for scrooms to t-bag (which is hilarious). -Change detoxify slightly; make it charge up for a moment before releasing a poisoning AOE that gives scrooms slight amounts of hunger for each person hit, as well as slightly filling the toxicity of those poor enough to be in range. -And finally, let scroom players use /s before speaking to let them use scroomspeak. Scroomspeak can be read by any scroom with a line of sight on those of their race & cannot be understood by other races without the knowledge of the library. I am very aware that this is a LARGE list of things, but I think that the difficulty of buffing a race like scroom makes the copious amount of passives necessary. Scrooms are such a special case that a lot of attention has to go into changing them. But yes, this would further expand the already comically large list of scroom passives. The primary buffs here are the poison buff & spreading spores. They make scrooms more universally powerful, and give them a more prevalent effect in combat. You could throw away every change except for the top 2 listed & scroom would already be exponentially better. And as we all know, may Prince Pinky find his way into hell.
I feel like scroom could really use a regen buff since it can't go chef _or_ vamp. I think 1.5x normal speed, maybe a bit higher would be good. Another idea I had was an active called "thorns" where, when activated, would do flat damage to any attackers. It would be better against fast hitting classes and multi-hit attacks since the revenge damage would always be the same no matter how much damage the scroom takes from any single attack.
If that were so, there should be a special gripping animation where, instead of decomposing on the floor, if you press b on somebody (as vamp) who’s knocked with decompose equipped and you gain hunger. Downside being, you must wait until their food is drained for it to kill.

With one being basic which anyone can learn at sentinel and advanced which only scrooms have (this could give you sales and a bit of extra sale price). Since I already gave up on it being meta i feel like it should be like the best choice for a beginner
I play a long-term scroom build which is lannis scroom shinobi (Which I did cause it is funny) The biggest issue with scroom in combat is, other than poison resistance, you are worst than being raceless If you run out of hunger, you cannot just instantly eat meat like other races, you got to dip and decompose just to gain it back which leaves you vulnerable This is often an issue in long lasting ganks A cool way to fix it is like day 20 give scroom the ability to very slowly gain hunger while on land they can decompose on, then make decompose give more regeneration so its still a useful skill I also think mind immunity would be a good addition, how does a plant go insane??? Honestly though, I believe as a scroom you are post to progress to metascroom, which is one of the best races So I think detoxify should make you lose a bit of toxicity so you can hop castle rock more I don't think arch and rag intended for people to stay as scroom when making a long lasting build, its just so bad compared to other races Even with your suggestions, it still wouldn't be that great in combat and still be a low-tier race but they're fun and cool ideas
I think a better buff would be removing scroom's poison immunity, and making poison give them increased regen instead. Then there could be a detoxify M2, where you fill a very small portion of your toxicity bar, but in exchange you poison yourself and gain increased regen. This would make it like a funny "Deep Sacrifice", and could make up for scroom being unable to go vampire.
Snowscroom progression when you get ultra you get snowscroom buffing ice magic less than rigan and giving u increased cold resist also making detoxify have a geli effect and do the same temp damage as a normal geli
don't get me wrong, its a really good idea, but the main developers of rogue are passed onto deepwoken and it probably wont get added. they might do a post deepwoken release rogue update just to kidna finish the game off
I was thinking of a "grab move" it would be called toxic grip, you grab the opponent and spew out toxic on them. It would have super armour. Another thing would be a small chance to proc poison if you get hit by a player.
Or maybe when your day 0 your decompose makes you go underthe ground, including your head, but when you reach day 3 your head "grows" and your visible from the outside now. [Good for a lot of things.]

scroom is really fun to play early game and is good for new players cuz your immune to stuff like broken bones and poison, plus you dont have to buy food. The reason why its so bad is because its only decent for early game
I think fungdead wraith isn't that great an idea because you could just get a friend to be a freshie and you gank, and if you are knocked your friend comes and grips you instead of the others and then lets himself die

Your aligment is a value in the game, you just decrease the aligment value whenever you kill a person or burn, it doesnt recognize WHAT race you actually kill.
As much as I like this rework, the fungdead wrath is useless, as zombie scrooms can be outrun quite easily, don't deal curse stacks upon hitting a player and they get stuck on terrain very easily, so this would litteraly just be annoying for about 20 seconds before they get the zscroom to fall off something. The dig on the other hand is quite cool, but I would give it mana run speed and limited duration.
