When I was looking at my mortgage prepayment options, I opted for doing weekly payments (technically, rapid weekly. I make a payment every Thursday). Just doing that, with no other prepayments, cut over 6 years off my 30 year mortgage! 😱 Not sure why more people don't opt for that option (if it's available to them.) Also, fun story, I had a huge water leak the first month I moved into my condo too! Had to replace all the floors. Fortunately, been quiet on the catastrophes since then. 😊
When we got our roof done we went to harbor freight it’s like a cheap hardware store I guess you can say? We got a push magnet thing to pick up all the nails they left in my yard atleast 100 of them 🥴 but it’s nice to have even after little projects in the garage just to make sure they are all picked up before parking in there or stepping on any of them! & I opened a high yield savings account with ally cause of you guys about a month ago! I am a little to obsessed of putting money in there now 🤣
@@DebtFreeMillennialswe got ours from Menards, any hardware store has them. It was a must for us after our roof replacement - I was scared my toddlers would step on one in the yard!
Been recently rewatching “How I Met your mother” and totally got the reference to the mouse. 😆 We had a situation like that as well, we ended up catching and releasing at a park. Ran straight into the road lol
we bought a house in May this year….. exactly one month before I gave birth to our son. Our GE dishwasher went out due to electricity flickering and blowing the fuse. We had a small leak under our bathroom wall due to our toilet gasket being old, and we ended up replacing all the carpet in our bedrooms as well as pulling up the flooring that the previous owner had put down to find original tile throughout the house. Post partum recovery was definitely a wild time for me.
Hi. I'm not done watching the video so it's very possible that you catch this but it looks like some of the % calculations are off. Example: property taxes at 0.07% of take home. I really enjoy these videos, thanks for always being so open!
A note on paying extra on the mortgage: pay extra on principle instead of making extra payments (which includes paying interest). It helps knock down the mortgage faster. We are set to pay ours off in a total of three years! On the escrow account, everyone should check into their states rules. 15 states are required to pay interest on escrow accounts. I honestly didn't it was an option to opt out of an escrow account, but luckily I live in a state that does pay interest on ours
Do you have a sump pump with battery power option in the basement? If not, get one installed asap. It will save you all the trouble the next time this happens. Well worth it.
FYI those humane traps are not a great idea. The mice will just run right back to your house unless you release them several miles away. Just get snap traps - they are a humane, fast kill.
You will have more mice. You need to seal all the cracks under and around your house with spray foam. What’s the purpose of keeping the mouse alive? Snap traps is what you need, set them with peanut butter. To my knowledge -mice serve no purpose, they carry disease and you have little children. You might also want an outdoor cat. With a basement, I would think about a sump pump.
Native rodents are a part of the ecosystem; they help with seed dispersal, soil aeration, and are a food source for many. However, house mice love to live near humans for food and shelter, and can carry disease and cause destruction (even though they're cute). Outdoor cats can kill a lot of important native wildlife
Great budget and video. I work a for a company that sells adjustable bases and luxury mattresses. $3,000 for something that will last you 10+ years is an AMAZING investment.

We'll have to look for a push magnet, that sounds like exactly what we need! And I'm so glad you opened a HYSA with Ally!!

Yeah it's because we didn't add the net into the budget. If we added what we didn't spend, it corrects the percentages!

Yes, apply to the principal! That's what we did.

We do have a sump pump that works! It was a freak amount of rain. Like 5" in the matter of 3 hours. I'm hoping it was a one time event!
I hope that extra payment you made was a principal only payment.
IYKYK HIMYM!
yep yep!!
well hi friend!!

We made sure to drive it several miles away to a large park!

Three trips to the liquor store. Okay! You accidentally got a nail in your tire and that’s what hit hard! 🤭
I *expect* Kyle to spend at the liquor store, I did not expect that flat tire! But dang he spent some money on alcohol lol
Pretty far from manhattan for a cockamouse… although… close to a manhattan lol
hahaha close to a Manhattan... that's hilarious!
That brand of vacuum cleaner is the worst!
We love our Shark vacuum 😅 But it's corded. Best vacuum I've ever had
