I hav the same 1x30 never seen one set up like that. Very interesting. I tend to lay mine on it’s Side and use it like that for the convex. I also have a leather belt off Amazon was very cheap. Really can’t beat that setup. Don’t understand all those people spending hundreds on name brand and this does everything and more for $50. At least that’s what mine cost. Have a good one.
Awesome video my friend I actually have one of those I made out of an old leather belt but I think I'm going to make a smaller one to take on-the-go with my trip because as soon as I get to my relatives while we staying with temporarily they always instantly asked me to sharpen their knives so I think before I leave I'll see if I can make a smaller one to take on the go
The edge you put on that 119 looks way better than the aids factory edge i tried sharpening my 119 with my worksharp precision adjust and it was going good until I went towards the tip of the blade it seemed to me that there was an insane angle change I feel towards the tip and I just tried to reprofile it at that point but the grit I had wasn’t enough
I use the Ken Onion worksharp system to get the same results. It does have the 3000 grit belt and I like it. If you get another belt go for the 3000. Then strop. I can't really say it's a huge improvement over what you get but I know the burr is basically non existent after a few passes at 3000. Or it's just so tiny it's an after thought. Lol. I have the new 119 from the Buck of the month club in 3v, I can only imagine how well it'll hold an edge. I may never use it. Only 500 made.
@@peterbiltknifeguy true, probably worn down pretty smooth. Definitely a good system. I have a Delta bench top belt sander. Takes the 3/4 by 30" belts. I wonder if it would accept an angled attachment like you have. Seems like a cool system
Do you ever do knives for other people? You do a wicked edge Did you make the guide your using or can it be purchased? Excuse my ignorance, I just don't have experience with this type of belt sander but will be getting one soon Could the back swedge be done like this?
Cool video. If you had a 1x42 belt sander I could send you some 1200 and 2000 grit belts. And a leather belt to power strop. But looks like you're doing just fine with your setup

Lol. Once you can sharpen everyone asks
@@peterbiltknifeguy agreed
Nice job bringing that edge back to beyond factory sharp....Good stuff....
Thanks Scott. It took a really great edge

Honestly this 1k belt is so worn out it’s getting to be a 3k belt lol. But still good results

@@gunner4373 the angle guide is 100% redneck homemade lol. So I’m sure you could make something work
For someone who doesn’t like Buck 119 you sure play with it a lot🤣😂Great video though thanks for your efforts. 👍
Thanks 👍

I don’t typically do. I hate shipping lol. I made the angle guide myself. You can definitely sharpen any part of the blade
@@peterbiltknifeguy thank you
Shaving the hair off a nats ass! I’ll tell you now that’s possibly the sharpest Buck I’ve seen!
😂
“Just because it held up, doesn’t mean I can trust it”?? Wait, what?
I still wouldn’t trust it. That’s just my opinion

That’s very nice of you. I believe they make a 1x30 leather belt for this sander.
@@peterbiltknifeguy they do.
What is that machine called and what brand is it? Ty
It’s just a harbor freight 1x30 belt sander. I made the guides myself
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. 👍🏽
