There's always a burr. There _has_ to be a burr. If there's no burr, there's no apex. I use lighter strokes on the diamond, then a couple of free hand passes on the rod to minimise it. The strop gets rid of what's left.
at my old job I charged 5 dollars to sharpen 8CR and those knives bought me several of those sharpeners. The course side is 320 grit and the fine side is 600 grit. then a couple of passes on the ceramic rod and then strop it.
I don’t think you know that on TH-cam you’re NOT supposed to use the knifes you post!!!….Jesus man! 😡 Well now I’ll be up all night to INSTAGRAM pocket jewelry so I can calm down..good day sir! 😠
These sharpeners are great and the diamond plates are of higher quality than DMT. The Work Sharp is my go to sharpener when i don't want to use water stones. I have a second one i took the plates of and glued them together to have a real pocket stone.
Yep, great tool to keep 'em sharp and cutting! Under the plates are broadhead wrenches, too! I got to get one of those Milwaukee's! Happy Thanksgiving to ya, Steve
I wish Work sharp had made the finer diamond stone a little more course. It’s almost flat as a table top, but it seems to work. I also seen one time where you can buy replacement diamond stones for this device.
I got one a few years ago and it goes wherever I go. The best portable all ìn one sharpener I've used. You can sharpen just about anything with it. I don't really use the sharpening guides. I just keep whatever angle is on my blade. I hold it in my open palm to keep my figners out of the way. With diamond stones you ďon't have to use any pressure at all, the weight of the knife is usually sufficient to put an edge on your knife.
Dude I understand what you're saying about the angle on the secondary grind and the main bar stock and everything I'm not sure how you said to measure it but you got the point across that it is different so I'll be able to figure out how to measure it but I understand what you're saying and you did get the point across so thank you
I have been looking at one of these for a while but the fixed angle has been the hold-up. I like a lower angle on my edc knives. I may still get one and see if I can 3d print guides with a different angle. Maybe even better would be to make a whole new unit using their diamond stones.
The end part is for holding it with you're thumb while resting the other end on the table rock or whatever you handy. And then you don't have too worry about cutting yourself.
It's a great tool, but you should have studied it a little better before making the video, IMO. You don't have to "guess" what the various surfaces on the ceramic rod if for, it's actually indicated right there on the knob that flips it from one surface to the next. "C"oarse, "F"ine and "J" fishhook. Small rod is for serrated blades.
@@peterbiltknifeguy The video quality was fine. It was the content that was lacking. You seemed to be passing yourself off as a teacher that was trying to share some useful information with the rest of us out here on the net, (I always assume that when someone is "reviewing" something on YT) which is commendable, as long as you don't waste people's time instead. @@mrhalfstep that’s the beauty of TH-cam. Anyone can post content. And if it’s something someone doesn’t like then aren’t forced to watch. I don’t claim to be a teacher or knowledgeable at everything. This is also a learning process. I’m a plumber that loves knives and knife related stuff. There is no TH-cam content academy. @@peterbiltknifeguy But, that device came with instructions! Expecting you to read them isn't requiring you to go to any TH-cam Academy. I guess I'm just trying to encourage you content makers to do your best to get the platform to the point where we CAN "believe everything we see on TH-cam". It can be a great resource once that happens. Most content makers want subscribers and I assume that you do as well. Being accurate should help you get there and research will help you be accurate. As a peace offering let me share a tip with you on this sharpener. If you push out the little pin down by the flip knob of the ceramic sharpener, the rod will come out for easy cleaning. Soap and water first, then scrub it with a pencil eraser (also known as a Ruby Red eraser)
@@lancezebeau1035For $7 a piece I wouldn't care if they only lasted a year of light use or a month of heavy use, except I got to wait weeks to get 'em in the mail 😮💨
Okay, I just got one about a month ago, and it is a truly good sharpening. But when I shake it, there seems to be something inside it, some where? Any idea?
Confusion achieved. Just swipe it on the stone until it gets better than dull. And put one end of the sharpener on the deck as the instructions suggest to avoid cutting yourself
If you place a piece of rope through the hole in the handle , it allows you to hold handle in thumb and index fingers and rope in palm. without putting your hand in the way while sharpening.

Exactly I work it the same way
On the ceramic rod, if you look on the red knob you will notice letters, one for hooks, course and fine.

Awesome. Thanks
you really don't need a as much pressure as you're putting. Worksharp definitely nailed it with this sharpener though
Yes sir, that Worksharp field sharpener is my favorite too!
I love it!

I won a Work Sharp Field Sharpener from DiscerningMan channel.
Awesome
These are the best grab and go sharpeners you can get.
Agree. So easy and fast
Seen them at my local Walmart 20$

Absolute best! Own two myself!!!
Awesome 😎
😜💪🏼🙏😜💪🏼. Love mine!!!❤
If you place a paracord lanyard on through the hole on the handle you can keep your hands out of the blade path and have a good purchase. Good video
Great sharpener right there . The small ceramic rod is for serrations and such.
Why didn't you just use the one you already have opened 💯
One lives in my backpack. Other in my shop

I got to get one of those Milwaukee's!

Thank you. And happy thanksgiving to you too
That smaller ceramic section is for serrations on knives.
You know you can just sit it on the table right? Great video!
Yes. But in the field you don’t always have a table

Got three of them and one is the limited edition dark spark ⚡️

One you break em in your set on the diamond
