Amazing musicians. This was Yes' supergroup. They all joined Yes at a certain time, hence the double instruments. What amazes me about Steve Howe every time is that he doesn't need any distortion on his guitar for long notes. He just fills the gaps with a zillion short notes.
I was lucky enough to go and see Yes play, on this tour, at the NEC, Birmingham. In 1991, the "ABWH" members and "90125" members joined forces for the "Union" album and tour. The show was really great; the album less so! Rick Wakeman would call the album, "Onion", because every time he listened to it, it would make him cry!

By now, you've learned that this was a rare unique 91 performance that combined members of both 70s & 80s members. That's why there were an untraditional two of each. The original singer Jon left the 80s YES incarnation, which included the 2nd guitarist & the 70s original keyboardist to form a new band with the original drummer, classic era guitarist & keyboardist called ABWH without the bassist who was still in YES. Then together, both groups created this UNION mega lineup Tour. Dont worry if some "dont get it".
I saw this show at the NEC and it was stunning although the two versions of Yes were never going to last long. I've seen Yes countless times since 1978 and YIND is always a real treat when Steve Howe lets rip with that solo. How many current bands could even dream of achieving this.

I liked this before watching it, I was a big Yes fan as my older brother played this stuff all the time in the 70's when I was growing up. Was wrapped when they released the album 90125 in 1983. I was 18 and most of the other stuff from Yes I heard was old. I finally got a Yes album that was more relevant to me, told all my mates and they said it was crap while telling me how great Michael Jacksons Thriller was. No accounting for taste I guess. Yes for the win IMO. My favourite Yes song would have to be Owner of a lonely heart but before that track it was Roundabout and I've seen all good people. Dont mind this track either.
A brief, simplified history of this special YES formation: YES had basically been bubbling away since 1981, resulting in numerous solo projects and short-lived new band formations (with the corresponding line-up changes). In 1991, 8 of the musicians involved reunited to form a "Yes big band" (2x guitar, 2x keyboards, 2x drums, 1x bass, 1x vocals). Personally, I still like the live version from the Close to the Edge Tour (1972/73; Yessongs album) best. th-cam.com/video/3Mhvkv3PP2g/w-d-xo.html
@nonrepublicrat I found it quite tasty. But I enjoyed all Rabin-era Yes. Also his Can't Look Away album. Feel he is quite accomplished. Like it better than every Yes album after Talk, but none before Drama.
YES is probably my favorite band but that 2nd guitarist as you guys referred to, (I think someone posted below, said Buford?) seemed to be playing his own riff that didn't seem tied to the song. It was like his own little audition to show his skills as a guitarist in the middle of a great YES song. I'd probably enjoy him playing with Zappa or maybe Hendrix just bouncing riffs off each other.
