    I had one for easily more than 10 years and it has ran with me 21km, trials for over 10000km SOAKED IN SWEAT, MUD, RAIN ETC. No battery change yet. Only the strap broke after 6 (?) years. Still working. My best Casio ( wearing Casio since 1983) ever.

      Wow thats great amount of time to have such a hard wearing watch!
      I do like the watch but it was just the issue with the battery going all the time which made it very unreliable for me but as a few people have commented, I just think I had one with a bad battery. I will look to swap the battery out for a new one and see what it is like from there.
      Shame to read about the strap going on your Casio though. I just wish that Casio made them more interchangeable but I do agree with that it is a great Casio to own and wear.

    You have the power save function enabled, that’s why it doesn’t seem to carry a charge. You can turn that function off.

    With rechargeable batteries if you consistently over charge them its a problem and if you consistently undercharge them its also a problem. In your case, it sounded like it was lower charge which could have degraded the battery and now its just not holding a charge, or it was a dud to begin with! I think I like the Casio watches that use the CR2032 battery and 10 years run time like the AE-1500WH. No messing with recharging issues.

    I've had one for 6 years and can confirm it's a very good watch,I've got several luxury watches and a Seiko but the Casio is the watch i always can count on for swimming,hiking and basically anything else,it's never died on me,you probably got a dodgy battery or something, I buy no means use it everyday and sometimes it spends 4 months in a box and always comes back with acute time

      Thank you for commenting and it is great to read that your watch has served you really well. I do think that I must of had a watch with a defective battery so I will get it changed and see how I go from there.

      @@wetryanythingchannel I've read that if you don't keep a dollar watch's battery charged, and let it run down, it'll shorten the life of the battery. One way to preserve the battery life, is to turn it off when keeping it stored for long periods of time. Hope that helps.

    I've had this watch for 4 years now and it's great. It gets a lot of wrist time and after moving I couldn't find it for several months. When it reappeared it was on Low battery. After 2 days in the window it went back to H and has never gone back to even M. It is a great watch to improve as a runner/swimmer or whatever sport you need to track laps over time.

    I have this same watch (My uncle bought it from US to India). After 6 years now, it has stopped working after I wore the watch for paragliding

    I think the problem of not charging for your watch is the battery. In my own experience with several solar Edifice watches I used in the past, the rechargeable battery inside typically lasted 3 to 4 years only. With 4.5 years as the absolute maximum lifespan. All my battery changes are done in official Casio service centers.
    Which is why I shifted to the "10-year battery" non-solar variety a couple of years ago. I'm new to this variety. So I don't know yet how long they will actually last. If it could last even just half of the claimed 10 years, then it's already way better than solar watches.

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agree with you as when the battery goes you can simply get it switched over for a new one and not have to make sure that your watch is getting a charge from the Sun etc.
      Saying that though, I do have a couple of other Tough Solar watches and I have to admit that they have been great so far. Even though they have sat in a watch box or in a drawer for an extended period of time and still work as intended.

      I may give Casio solar another try in the near future.
      Perhaps after gaging the performance these 10-year battery watches I'm using at present.
      Hopefully, chemical composition of rechargeable batteries of solar watches would have advanced further more by then.

    I have this in steel version. It's very good watch and I love it. It's my daily beater watch and I am using last 6 years. I have only problem with bezel, it's getting discolor. I want to change bezel but I could not find out. Can you help me to precure the new bezel?

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a very nice looking watch but unfortunately I have always had a problem with the tough solar part which never seemed to charge the battery in my Casio WS-220.
      In terms of bezel procurement, if I were you I would search out a few Casio forums and see if there is anyone that may help or use google and see if anything comes up as I don't really want to suggest anything that may not be suitable for what you are after.
      Sorry I can't be of any further help.

    Yeah, that one is so beat up it's not really worth replacing the battery. I just got one. It was down to medium out of the box, but that's not surprising for a 10-year-old watch. I stuck it under a lamp for a day and it's back to high battery. And the lap memory is a great feature if you don't want to carry a notebook around for your workouts.

    I had one for 7.5 years, never had any problems with it and then the battery died, I couldn't find the rechargable battery for it, therefore its been sitting in my closet for 3 years, I really miss it. 😢
    The recent Casios doesn't come close to it in terms of functionality and big legible digit display

    I have one since 2013 and it still work just fine!, however, for some reason the buttons won’t function most of the time when pressed so I couldn’t adjust the time anymore.

    Do you still have to replace battery on solar watch?

    • @azareii
      @azareii 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rechargeable batteries do degrade, so yes. However, the degradation of the battery should be significantly slower than the discharge of an alkaline battery, meaning you would need to replace it much less often than with a non-solar watch. You also get an indication of how charged it is and when it's about to die.

      It is very hard for me to say as the battery is completely dead so I can't check but I do believe that it probably isn't a feature of this watch.

    Chi is Chicago, not China. China can't possibly be positioned as the next time zone from New York.

    It looks like you have given your watch a hard time. Scratch on the crystal and the words solar rubbed off and looks like scratches through the lap and split words. My gosh even the wotd illuminator is almost all gone. No where is your watch like new.

    Mine got water damaged after about 3-4 years or something?
    It stopped working
    Looking back at how it happened, it was kinda my fault Lol
    DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTON WHEN ITS UNDER THE WATER
    The manual says something similar
    But I haven't noticed it :)
    So I was pressing everything like an idiot 😹
    Other than that, it was a fantastic watch
    I had it in pink color

  • @GottaGeek

    Sees "CHI" for US cities and says China. Sorry, had to laugh. Mine is always at high and spends 99% of its life in a dark case. You may have a battery that was a lemon. Mine is about 10 years old i believe and no issues. Replace that rechargeable battery and you'll love it.

    • @wetryanythingchannel
      @wetryanythingchannel  ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha ha I am such a fool for saying that it was China and not Chicago, thank you for correcting me! I still have the Casio WS-220 and whenever it sees the light of day it does come on indicating that it has a full battery but as soon as I use it it just switches off so, as you have mentioned, I have probably a watch with a bad battery. I will look into getting a new battery and see how I go!
