Damn it Dave, every time I watch one of you collection updates it cost me money and this was no exception lol. Great titles in there and some I didn't know had a release so in all seriousness thank you., take care mate.👍😀👍
Super late to this video! Just what I needed after my blood test, your vids never cease to pick my up!!! Edit: Only the Brave is Superb!! I wish it had more marketing, more people need to see it. I blind saw it at the movies and was blown away! I hope you like it!! Also Call me by your Name was beautiful & Goodbye Christopher Robin is very sweet. Mother is a headache, but excellently crafted (one that lingers on the mind, I have a love/hate for it) Blade Runner 2049 on 4K looks beautiful as well, and it’s an amazing movie!! And Shape of Water is a great movie, would love to see it on 4K because it’s beautifully shot!!
Thanks mate! Glad to be there! LOVED Goodbye Christopher Robin, and Call Me by Your Name was good but a little long for me! Haven't watched the rest yet... fingers crossed some of then pop up in my random picks soon!
hey dave i cant wait for another one of these updates in the future hopefully, its so interesting hearing your opinion on movies. and seeing witch ones u bought, also have u seen the room the best movie ever
there are a bunch of re-releases of all the dreamworks animated films on blu ray with the minimalist front cover, but all the slips spines match and it's pretty great!
Have seen them! Not a huge fan of the "big head" sleeves all the animation studios seem to be doing lately. But spine consistency is verryyyy nice indeed.
Dave Lee Down Under same! it's so hard because the big head stuff is not epic, but the spines are really displayed more often anyway. speaking of heads, Disney added two head covers to their pixar american blu ray line WITHOUT the ugly multi-screen border! makes me super hopeful we get continued mcu silver editions in the US!
Well... interesting you say that... Marvel have just announced 4K releases for the first 2 Avengers films. They both use the silver edition artwork with no multi-screen border. So, a good sign for sure. images3.static-bluray.com/movies/covers/207639_front.jpg images4.static-bluray.com/movies/covers/207638_front.jpg
Great pick ups man. Cant go wrong with some John Wayne movies. Great 4K pick ups. Im really into 4K right now. Im loving watching all my favourites in 4K for the first time. Great video. Take care.
Thanks mate! Certainly can't -- his movies are always entertaining, no matter how bad they are (and some of them are pretty damn bad). Same here man, 4K is GREAT
Great video Dave. Also, what do you plan on doing when it comes to purchasing the home media release of Avengers Infinity War with the Amazon saga going on? Are you going to get the 4K steelbook from jb with the extra disc or go for another option?
Thanks mate! Honestly nooooo idea just yet until they’ve all been announced. I’ll definitely grab the 3D UK edition and probably one from the states. I’ll have to see the steel before I decide if I want it or not. If just the “A” teaser artwork like the last two, I may end up passing as I think it’s boring, and don’t have the other two. I imagine the US or even the UK will got an edition with the bonus disc. So I’ll play it by ear!
I can’t believe you found great reviews for Boss Baby haha. Every single person I know who saw it (including me) thought it was awful. Then when it got nominated for an Oscar that just shocked everyone more lol
DaMoon I thought it was good. not great, but good. it had a super unique style that was imaginative. I think that's what got the lock for the oscar. I watched it free on netflix.
Joseph Olsen I mean it’s not the worst movie in the world. It’s a good family movie but as a film itself it clearly has no passion put into it and was made to make money, not because of an artistic desire or anything
Joseph Olsen Most mainstream movies and, sadly, most of modern cinema consists of films that are made solely to make money. If you think about the Emoji Movie or nearly every other mainstream movie with a large cinematic release they usually are franchise related or are just made with the intent of pulling in as much money as possible. Sure, not all of these movies end up being bad but most do. When you make a cash grab film with 0 passion out into it and no artistic value whatsoever it’s most likely not going to be great
NERD Incorporated idk why the original Lego movie got snubbed either! probably one of the biggest Oscars snubs ever. didn't even get a nomination. I mean, just.... come on.
Pleasure mate. There’s one on right now actually. It’s a standard 20% off sale, and runs until July 1. No extra 5% vouchers with this one. But the 2 For $20, and 3 for $40 are still running, so you can stack it. There’s also a Buy 2 Get 1 Free on TV shows too (excludes box sets)
Already done a small haul today! Not too much, just Tomb Raider 4K steel for only $29 (bargain!), and a couple of Disney / Touchstone titles I somehow never got around to grabbing for only $8 each. I’ve seen that about K-Mart... haven’t bought any Blus or DVDs from them for YEARS! Might check out what they got though if I got a chance - I hear they’re doing 50% off at the moment.
Dave Lee Down Under yes 50% off if they have any left, ran out at near me :( I used to work at Kmart in entertainment and it's no surprise, they stopped having movie sales about five years ago, they let it die, same with video games.
Mate! Best. Shoutout. Ever! Too funny! And I have to say, on this occasion, you have underestimated yourself! You got him beat! Old mate Rick has the volume, and some good to ok titles, Only the brave is good, bad moms 2 is ok, downsizing interesting and I didn’t know there was a sequel to Goon! Look forward to hearing thoughts on that... However mate! T2, Serpico are awesome, Genisys is ok (don’t watch the trailer before hand...), money train was a great follow up to White men can’t jump. So it was even, but Daylight! Come on! Classic Stallone 90’s greatness! That gives you the win on this occasion! Dave is on the board.... Rick 2 Dave 1 Great vid mate, honestly love hearing you just chat about movies. Your knowledge, insights and enthusiasm are great to watch. Keep it up!
Nooooooooooo!!! How could I let him beat me. Damn you Peter! I will do better next time and go up 3-1. P.S. Loved the state of origin. Thanks again. Pity Slater and Smith weren't playing, and damn shame about the result. But well let you N.S.Welshmen have the title this year!
ha! sorry mate, but the 80's and 90's action movies are right up my alley! no dramas on SOO - so glad you guys enjoyed it and sorry I didn't have time to properly stop and say hello - was a very busy night! the way the storm are going, they will likely play in the finals, so keep that in the back of your mind and will be able to provide tickets if you like!
have you checked out PLAY Music & DVDs in burke street melbourne they have a good range of imported dvds and blu-rays, either they still do or not, i havent been there for quite sometime, so i unsure if they are still allowed to get imported blu-ray, and they can get movies in by request, i brought a 80's john candy movie armed and dangerous, in which isnt on dvd in australia and i ask them to imported for me and they kindly did and only took a few weeks which was surprising.
Haven't checked them out mate. I heard a lot of the physical stores selling import DVDs / Blu-rays got "raided" by authorities a while back, because 'technically' it's illegal to sell movies that haven't been classified in the country or don't display our classification logos. So I'd be surprised if it's still around, or at the very least, still selling imported titles. It's not illegal to import from overseas, just illegal for them to be sold in the country.

wow mate great list of movies, also not many people i know buy old classic movies, as some people i know only watch movies from the 80's to now, im a fan of 1930's horrors, such movies as Frankenstein, im not sure if you call king kong horror but i love that movie, you cant beat the original king kong, and movies from the 50's and 60's, i love vincent price movies,

I'm not sure what Oscar movies you're speaking of that I don't know about, however?
But what happens when you have a ridiculous hoard of blu rays and so many of them are titles you'll never watch again? The reason it pains me is because I'm a collector myself and face the issue. I'm now a little more selective. As for Oscar films, I was just surprised that you hadn't even seen The Florida Project, Blade Runner 2049, and The Shape of Water. They're masterpieces that had crazy buzz/oscar buzz. In my opinion if there were 3 movies to see in 2017, those three should have been it... Especially Blade Runner, it's probably the best looking/sounding film to ever experience in a cinema, if you're a film guy, you REALLY missed out. You'll enjoy the 4k though, it's beautiful, as for the other 2 as well.
ed1rko17 Already do, if I’m being completely honest. With a collection as large as ours, there’s plenty of movies that I’m sure we’ll never watch again. But, it’s not about hoarding, it’s about buying the movies I think will be enjoyable, or that I’d at least like to see, when they’re cheap, so they’re there when I get around to them. I’d rather pay $6-8 for a movie and keep one, than rent one for around the same price and never have to option to keep it or see it again without paying twice. I’d also rather pay that $6-8 than see most movies at a cinema for $60 for two people and, again, not own it. As for the ‘Oscar films’, of course I’d heard of them before we purchased them, just hadn’t seen them. Again, it comes down to there being so many movies in this world to watch that you can’t possibly see them all. I’m also not in a rush to watch most things for the same reason. I was never an enormous fan of the first Blade Runner, so I was happy to wait a couple months and spend the money on a physical copy of 2049. We have a decent home cinema set up at home, and for most movies, that’s fine for me.

Logan is my favorite movie of 2017
Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well
Disney TV Animation released a show based off the Three Caballeros movie. I’m trying it out to see if I like it as much as I like the Ducktales reboot
Question, maybe for the live q and a. Do you own all the disney movie club exclusive blu rays? And are you sad they dont all have slipcovers?

Thanks Nino! I'm sure I'll enjoy it when I get around to it!

I don't get how ur Digital copys work cause some of your movies have digital but most not also can u use the US digitals
Our digital copies work the same as those in the US, but hardly any of our releases actually come with them.
US codes don’t work over here.

Why in the E.U. market do they have to ruin the box art with the rating sticker why can't they do it like how we do in the U.S.A OR JAPAN?
Ugh... the worst thing is... those aren't even stickers... they're PRINTED on the cover...
They're an absolute disgrace.
It just comes down to local laws on how classifications need to be presented on media.
I believe in the US, the classification only needs to be shown once, and there's no real regulations on how noticeable they need to be -- so yo get away with just having a small one on the back.
UK have to *Visibly* show the certification at least twice on the package, which is why you see one on the front cover and on the spine... I don't mind the UK logos, atleast they're a little more discreet than the Aussie ones.

In Australia, ours also need to be shown twice (front and spine), but have to be *INCREDIBLY VISIBLE*, they also have to be completely detailed as to the kind of content featured in the media. I guess, in some respects, we're a very sensitive culture, and people get annoyed if that kind of thing isn't advertised. I get it -- but it annoys me, it destroys the artwork.
