I also hunt Alabama mountain turkeys and when that turkey saw him move my heart sank for him because I knew he was gone for good. But I ain’t near the caller Dave is
I can't help my self in those situations always thinking of how to get in a better position even when your seeing birds , sometimes the best thing to do is to stay put.
It reached a point where the subtle tactics went out the window and it became a verbal war between Dave and the hens! Ole boy just hit the switch like someone rang the bell between rounds. Sure was fun to watch and listen to!!
Man O' Man!! The coloration of the gobbler when Tracy displayed his wings and tail was beautiful in the lighting of that mountainside!! Congrats you two. May there be many more!
It's a Benelli SBE 2 vinyl wrapped in Mossy Oak Bottomland with grips cut from TALON Grips DIY material sheets (black rubber). It's topped with a Vortex Venom 3 MOA red dot sight with a .640 TSS choke tube.
Brilliant sequence turning the flock, then patiently waiting on their next move. That type of calling in that situation I’ve found can result in them returning to find “the hen” so excitedly calling. Thanks for sharing so much spring glory with us Dave!
2 things: 1st, that technique of holding the seat cushion on your grand slam with your ankles as you squat down is magnificent 2nd, those road you walk are absolutely stunning. Much better than the fresh plowed sugar sand tram roads I walk down here in FL. I'm gonna have to take a Bama trip some time!
@Tracy Phillips I hit rewind like 9 times to see exactly how it was done. Can't wait to get home and try it lol. Trying to hold the cushion with one hand and the gun in the other and smoothly sit down has always been a crux for me. Usually just sit and hop and slide the cushion, but it's not a very smooth move lol. Good stuff
Awesome video. Another classic from Dave Owen’s!!! March 30th is my birthday. Glad you got one on that day. One day I’ll be down that way to have a chance at getting one on my birthday!!!!
Been traveling to hunt turkeys since 1983, you getting in that battle with that hen reminds me of using the same tactic to call in a 25lb 1 3/4 inch spurred boss for my 15 year old daughter back in something like 2009 Great video Dave.
Yeah this new turkey tour word just never understood it I killed my first one in 1987 at 6 years and could not wait for that time of the year so that I could go out of town and do more turkey just thought it was a way of life how I have been so blessed and spoiled
My best friend and I started hunting turkeys on public land in different states around 2005-2006. I remember the days of pre-scouting areas with paper 1:24,000 topo maps of areas we would buy from USGS and have them shipped to us. Ahh the good ole days.
Awesome guys 👍. Been waiting for these videos to hit since deer season ended for me 3 weeks ago. Now you getting me pumped for 🦃 season in central Florida. My hunting buddy pregnant with my second grandbaby so maybe doing some solo hunting unless I can con Simon Ellis into hunting with an old man 😂
Dave I hope you have one for every day until ga season starts. I learn a ton from you every year just about circumstances I. The woods. I appreciated it brother, and hope the lord blesses you with a ery successful season.
This style of hunting is completely foreign as we normally sit all day up here in Minnesota. We call and use decoys but they hardly ever respond. I admire how you can figure out how close to get for your setup and not spook them. One day I hope to try this.
I have 3 or 4 guys I’ve meet thru diff Facebook pages or forums that I still hunt with. My wife thinks it’s super weird to meet strange men in the woods lol but only us hunters get it lol
Good vid. Congrats. Yep you can can become friends with good people on them forums. It’s crazy. I’m on them forums to. Seems like I know a bunch people from there but never met them. Good deal. I’m ready to get after them here in ky. Gott a few months. Lol
They used to be a great place for like minded folks. Everything seemed to turn toxic in many of those places when the masses exited in the wake of Facebook.
My gosh if you have to be that good at calling to kill em I don't stand a chance 😂 that was amazing calling Mr Dave
You go fellas!! What a hunt 👍.
Great video, boys! I thought that was Nick Mundt!
We need more Tracy!!!

I can't help my self in those situations always thinking of how to get in a better position even when your seeing birds , sometimes the best thing to do is to stay put.
No doubt. Especially in those open woods.
Yep, it's super hard sometimes to stay put but patience definitely prevailed in this situation.
Boy oh boy what a calling contest between you and the ole Boss Hen and what an amazing Outcome!!! Congratulations fellas
Bout time you got an Asian on this channel 😂🥷🏽✊🏽
this is the first time i've ever seen a turkey buddin'! cool!
I thought so too, and on a rock! Did you notice the last hen picked up and sorted through some small acorns as she climbed? Super cool stuff.
@@pinhotiproject yes i did. definitely! thanks man! everybody loves yer stuff!
Once in a life time hunt. You'll never have another hunt like that. Memories. Awesome hunt.
It reached a point where the subtle tactics went out the window and it became a verbal war between Dave and the hens! Ole boy just hit the switch like someone rang the bell between rounds. Sure was fun to watch and listen to!!
That early season can be like that often! It's enjoyable
Man O' Man!! The coloration of the gobbler when Tracy displayed his wings and tail was beautiful in the lighting of that mountainside!!
Congrats you two. May there be many more!
I thought the same when I walked up and he was holding him. That lighting was juuussssttt right!
Give some info on Tracy’s shotgun….please

@@tracyphillips7721 From Tracy himself!!! Thanks. Nice looking gun. Enjoyed the video.
I LOVE IT!!
What an absolute calling clinic you put on. You are the man Dave. I learned something else from you again. Guess we are never to old to learn
The minute we walk into the woods thinking we know it all is usually when he'll serve up the toughest lessons!
AWESOME Vid!! Love seeing old friends get back together to chase Longbeards!!! This one got me even more ready for spring!!!👊👊👊
I love watching you hunt turkeys, great video Dave

Good hunt. Just waiting on deer season to end so the real season can get here!

Wow, I'm surprised you noticed that. It's just something I've always done. Seems to put the cushion in just the right spot when sitting down. Ha!

That aggressive hen dialogue was absolutely incredible. Two more months until it’s go time again!

Keep ‘em coming brother! Best turkey content on the internet!
I can’t wait for this turkey season I have some awesome spots I’m really looking forward to hiking the hills and looking for birds
I think we all are, Good Luck!
@@pinhotiproject thanks Dave. And thanks for commenting back.
Love the videos
Spring is on the way. Great to see you posting turkey videos once again.
At 22:15, that looks so much like a face in the center of the screen, it kind of gave me and my wife the chills!
Yes. It did look like a face at 22:15.😂
Love seeing a group of jakes like that. Promising sign for this Spring. Hopefully the flocks of hens and jakes continue to get larger going forward.
We saw a lot of promise for 2024.
good hunt!

@pinhoti how many birds did you kill or participate in killing last season?
I don't do any counting. I'm grateful for the last one and only concerned with the next one.
Dave I hope you have one for every day until ga season starts. I learn a ton from you every year just about circumstances I. The woods. I appreciated it brother, and hope the lord blesses you with a ery successful season.
What load are you shooting

all hunts are good hunts in my mind.

Get mobile and unlock turkey hunting for everything it has to offer- MN is a wonderful place.
I have 3 or 4 guys I’ve meet thru diff Facebook pages or forums that I still hunt with. My wife thinks it’s super weird to meet strange men in the woods lol but only us hunters get it lol
What diaphragm call are you using?
Links in the Description for all our calls.
What kind of vest do you recommend
It's as unique to the user as anything. I'd suggest shopping around to get one that fits what you like to carry and nothing more.
What turkey vest is he using?
The one I'm using is the Alps Outdoorz Grand Slam Turkey Vest with the kickstand frame removed.
man! what'a gang'a turkeys!
Good vid. Congrats.

Nice Deal, Y'all!
When you do that real light yelping do you keep your mouth closed?
I wouldn't say closed- but loosely opened.
I'm in NW Alabama and it is tough up here. Great job. This will be my third year turkey hunting and hoping to finally get me one.
this is the first time i've ever seen a turkey buddin'! cool!
