trying to find a carving knife that you can buy not like the helive that they do a shortage on so only a few people can buy. Don't like companies that create their own shortage.

What is that black pad on your bench? I see some people with a green one. What are they called and why do we need one?
It’s called a cutting mat, it protects the counter top from scratches, you can cut into it with an exacto knife and it will self heal. The grid squares and angle lines are terrific for pattern layouts. You can get them in all sizes and colours on Amazon or craft stores.
