With everything happening right now my entire life has been thrown out of wack. I got kicked off my campus and so many plans were cut short. I've just been filled with so much anxiety and sadness but watching your vlogs always helps calm and ground me. This is exactly what i needed. Thanks for having such good energy em.
I'm so sorry things are making you sad right now, if it's any consolation we're all going through this together, and that is such a nice thing to hear, thank you so much
During this quarantine time, your videos are the best thing to watch (especially these vlogs) because they are really cheerful. Your organization skills are on point girl.👏
Jonathan Culler’s “Literary Theory: A Very Short Introduction” is a really concise and readable entry point into what theory is all about. I enjoy reading in it every now and then, even though I'm already a PhD student.
I'm LIVING for your discussion about theory! It'm doing a German and Norwegian language and literature degree and we had a whole module on literary theory. I feel like it makes me view the world differently and question absolutely everything I used to take as it was. And the way it ties in with linguistics is fascinating
Loved the vlog, it’s was so cozy as always :) I really enjoyed you talking about ur English degree it sounds so interesting and something I think I would really enjoy. I think you would be a very good professor!
One book I highly recommend is The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It follows the tale of three generations of historians and anthropologists who realize that Dracula himself is still alive and try to hunt him down. This is her debut novel, so there are proofreading errors, however, it is one of my favorite books. It also has dark academia vibes.
out of all the classes i had during my english degree, my literary theory class is definitely the one i had the most fun is, if i can say it like that, simply because you see how one text can be interpreted so many ways, depending on which theory you want to go with, and it's just so interesting and fascinating!
I'm currently reading through The Wheel of Time with my friend and I'm absolutely loving the series. I am going to be reading the fourth next month. It's such an amazing series! I loved this reading vlog as always. x
giving me the inspiration to clear out my wardrobe (which is literally *bursting* at the seams)!! your vlogs are always just so relaxing - I love them!! Okay, I'd never heard of The Eye of the World before but it sounds SO interesting - can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!
I was just watching your previous vlog and this came at the perfect time! Just found your channel. Been binge watching your vlogs today.♥️ Hope you’re staying safe and healthy. A fellow TH-camr xx
The Eye of the World is great!! There are tons of books! I don't remember a lot from them because I started them back in middle school (15+ yrs ago 😅). I do want to re-read them though because I didn't make it through all of them the first go around.
I subscribed a few weeks ago and have enjoyed your videos so much! This video was beautiful and so calming with all of the nature shots, which is just what we need right now. I have generalized anxiety and I agree, when you already deal with anxiety on a daily basis and then something major like this pandemic happens, it’s hard to deal with it all but it helps to know we’re all in it together and can help each other through it. Stay well 💗
I'm so glad to hear that! I'm so sorry you have to experience so much anxiety especially during such an anxious time, sending all the love and calmness
Loved this longer vlog while I was packing and cleaning, going home tomorrow to my families house which will make the next few months easier. So I will be able to go outside into the garden instead of just having to be trapped in my house all the time to long term health problems. This was very calming to watch and definitely helped with my anxiety, it was really interesting to see how your degree is very different to mine as I'm studying marine biology.
That sounds so nice, I actually just came home to my parents' house yesterday so I totally get it - being able to go outside into the backyard and play with my dog after being stuck in my apartment for so long was so refreshing and nice. OH REALLY?! I was actually in biology my first year and planned to go into marine biology so I would love to hear all about your experience!!
@@emmiereads Yes it's so nice to be able to go outside. I really enjoy my degree it's what I always wanted to do I've always been obsessed with dolphins and whales. It's quite a lot of lab work then there are whole modules of field work which normally is great not so much now. Currently trying to work out how to do a dissertation which was going to be fieldwork based when I can't do field work.
I woke up at 6:00 a.m in the morning today. The weather was amazing and it was raining outside. I saw a comment that said that too so i can relate, it was @Maggii Mora. You inspire me to be productive. As i was writing, i received a notification that said that you posted. I really wanted to watch your video so i put a word count goal and told myself that if i got those words, ill watch the video right away. I couldn’t have done it without you...thank you em !!
it’s going good emmie thanks for asking 😊 I’m almost done with act 2 and I’m so excited to rap this project up. I’ll be attempting April Nanowrimo this year, and I was wondering if you will. I’m sure you can do it ♥️ For camp, I have a new story idea and I’m done with my outline.
I am from Greece and is really odd to see greek words, characters and names in an english video.By the way, you are one of my favorite booktubers.I love your energy❤.
Neverwhere is actually my favourite by Neil Gaiman, I wouldn’t say it’s his best objectively but it just hit me like nothing else ❤️ So I hope you like it and can’t wait to hear what you think!
The writing in Neverwhere is probably his best of what I've read so far, but in terms of plot and concept, Coraline always takes the top place for me!!
Have you read any Stephen Fry. "Mythos" for example? I took a B.A..Comms years ago, a core component was English. Basically a 101 paper on contract law where we analysed wording in legal definitions etc A 6th form English paper as an adult student. (Romeo and juliet along with Keats, Shelly, Blake etc. ) The English language is very subjective and if you analyse too much, you'll spin around in ever decreasing circles until eventually you disapear up your own backside. Otherwise, give it to a lawyer, and they'll swear black is white for a fee.
Neil gamman for is an author that I can't get into like I tried reading neverwherr and another book of his but I got bored of it and the book put me into a reading slump
i think you'll find plenty of other people have been annoyed by socrates. notably, the people who ordered his death sentence for his main crime, which was being annoying and convincing some young dudebros into also being annoying

Thank you so much for the little lecture! 💕 I really enjoyed it. Also, I've started to read about Greeks because of you.
