The reason behind most of these cards having extremely random stats is due to them coming from the card creator. The ones you mentioned were just the remaining 136 matching pairs. You could potentially make 9800 different cards from the 280 card parts obtainable in game. Of these cards, only 7 pairs were made into actual cards in the sequel game DM4 and only 2 of those made it to the real world: Spherous Lady in LON and Light Law Medium much later in DIFO. I would love to see the other 136 become real if only for how these odd 8-bit mishmashes translated into card art.
I feel like some of these cards had their names and pictures switched with other cards in this games types and stats. Like they didn't take the time properly program the cards into the game
Hey, I think Space megaton was actually used by Kaith in the manga during Duelist Kingdom.... and appeared in the irl card "Heavy Metal Raiders". It should be a shoe-in to get converted to the irl game........ eventually.
Honestly I would love it if the main gimmick with generic illusion monsters is if all the monsters are based on the more obscure side of the franchise like here with the monsters in dark duel stories or maybe even some of those old alt arts like Yasushi the Skull Knight
Although I'm pretty sure 'Uncle' is either a mistranslation OR a direct translation that doesn't make sense, because that artwork clearly shows an ANKLE, Uncle is so much funnier. 😂 But imma need Unc to stay as far away from me as possible.
I never played DDS, but my cousin had it growing up. I would've had a fun time with some of these name-type-attribute combos if I had been into Yugioh back then. Can't stop laughing right now and I'm only 4 minutes into the video.
OH BOY this video. I love it because it introduces me to a ton of cards I never heard of before, but also this video will keep me busy til early DEC with all the custom reworks I going to be making.
So DDS allowed you to combine caed halves to make new cards. For instance, Confield Coatl (which became an illusion monster) was created from the Cornfield half and the Coatl half. I think the prefix determined the Type while the suffix determined the Attribute. The fact there was art for all these combinations is actually surprising for a GBC game.
I really like the designs on some of these hope they eventually get imported to the game as decent effect monsters. Heck I'll even take them as mediocre pack filler.
Do a lot of these count? A lit of these are custom parts for the games custom card Maker. So not actually cards in the game, unless you take into account all possible combos then maybe? I don't think I'd count any of them
OK, will not lie that im further influenced to do a "Class Mirror" archetype inspired by the OCG Class Mirror vanilla monster that hasn't been converted into the TCG.
I was actually thinking about this game today and just Yugioh romhacks in general. I'm amazed Konami NEVER made video game exclusive OP boss monsters for villains or characters in general. Back then there was never an obligation to make a card exclusive to one media have a parallel release in the physical game. They really could have let their creativity run wild. As for myself, I would have given every character some kind of OP boss monster or annoying gimmick spell to make each duelist unique and memorable (for better or worse). Imagine if you challenged Kaiba in the GBA game, you're in the heat of battle and he cheats out his Blue Eyes. You manage to toast the dragon with a tricky trap, only for Kaiba to Special Summon his ultra unique character exclusive Blue Eyes. It requires him to banish as many Blue Eyes from grave as possible and then can attack additionally for each Blue Eyes, you fell right into Kaiba's scheme! I would not see that coming. Some brave genius should mess around and make a cool YGO romhack that gives all the characters OP cards like that. It'd be a blast or a real challenge at the very least.
I think it would have been cool if you made a sort of minigame out of this video with a counter on how many cards you feel like make sense as a whole and how many of them don't, considering their stats, element and type, because form what I can tell most of them seem completely random. Like, why is "One-eyed insect" a fricking dinossaur? it has insect in the name. this is too funny man.

Glad someone had the numbers ready, I looked at the length and instantly knew it would be 99% card creator abominations.
These cards might not have been printed, but you can clearly see that several real life cards were inspired by these forgotten designs.
I feel like some of these cards had their names and pictures switched with other cards in this games types and stats. Like they didn't take the time properly program the cards into the game
thought I was having a fever dream watching this with how mismatched all those types and attributes are

this looks like a fun redraw project for artists!
3:08 BladeRex.. You’d think with that name he'd be a Dino type
a lot of these could be pretty cool as illusion type

Your dedication in going through and talking about the DDS custom cards is unreal.
I remember taking out Blue Eyes w/ a Kuriboh, thanks to the game's mechanics ❤
"Can you Identify this?"
Picture: fish
Name: fish
This game probably "Mmm, that's be gotta a pyro insect"
Sounds about right
What is a fish, but a spicy bug?
Im saving this video, not because irs good, but if i rver need to make a screen name for a website or video game, this has a lot of good candidates
You could count the number of monsters in this game whose level and typing make sense on one hand... even if all of your fingers were cut off
Facts!
Gimme that Corrupted Red Uncle.
Although I'm pretty sure 'Uncle' is either a mistranslation OR a direct translation that doesn't make sense, because that artwork clearly shows an ANKLE, Uncle is so much funnier. 😂 But imma need Unc to stay as far away from me as possible.
Space Megatron is actually in the manga played by bandit Keith against Joey. Also it makes a cameo in the card Heavy Metal Raiders.
9:45 this card counts as a Karakuri hahaha, the card in Japanese reads as "Karakuri Ninja - Raikou"
I had thought about that after the fact because it looked like it matched their aesthetic really well 😅
"So you're a fish-type, right?"
Masked Dom Green Fish: No.
This was my first video game. Seiyaryu, Salamandra, & Acid Trap Hole were my first cards ❤

I absolutely loved this game as a kid, i'm glad to see more channels covering it recently!
OH BOY this video. I love it because it introduces me to a ton of cards I never heard of before, but also this video will keep me busy til early DEC with all the custom reworks I going to be making.
I'm convinced they were drunk when they came up with the Type + Attributes, wtf
@@andreivaldez2929 As is tradition for yugioh card design

@@DemonRaticate That's really cool and it explains why there's a few level 5s with even worse stats than OCG Vol. 1
1:05 Nice smooth jazz
That's that Kelpy G demo

I've really been enjoying your channel, thank you for the vids 💪
Glad you've been enjoying 😊

I count them only for the fact that Cornfield was a combo card. So I would think that any of them would have a fair chance to become real cards.
Mhmm ok Fair point. Makes enough sense
Shadow insect yet it's name has holy perfect logic!
Where was Valon's Armor archetype in ur previous video on the Waking the Dragons videos?
Valon's Armor cards are getting a dedicated episode for next week's season finale, with a special guest 🫡
I loved this game as a kid and was my introduction to the series. Althought it can be right down unfair after Battle City.
OK, will not lie that im further influenced to do a "Class Mirror" archetype inspired by the OCG Class Mirror vanilla monster that hasn't been converted into the TCG.
I like this side quest
Some side quests are better than the main story 😅
My first Yu-Gi-Oh! game? Don't mind if I do.
Bro naming every card ever 😭
Better than carding every name ever 😭

Yes! More of this!
