My wife and I smoked them yesterday on a small nano crank and a rebel pop-R in 2-4 feet of water around stumps at our local lake. I have learned a lot about catching fish in hot weather after watching your channel. Your right, there’s always some fish that stays shallow in the summer. Keep it up!
Randy, Unrelated question. The folded flag and medal on the wall behind your right shoulder, to the left of our screens. Who is the Soldier and what is his story?
There's a few bass I didn't have a scale with me in IL I caught I believe to be my pb, don't laugh...3.6 pounds this past weekend. I'm in AL now, this is my first season here so I missed how early spawn behins here. But I go as far as I can strength and handle weather wise. But CHICK MAGNET JRs from STRIKE KING has caught me so many bass this past few weeks. Many 2-2.5ers but I got my 3.6 on it also. Even kvd 1.0-1.5 is killing it for me.
I learned a lot from this video. My last outing I was throwing a big spinner bait with a TRD spin tail in the plastic and I didn't get one bite. Then I switched to my confidence lure.....the senko and didn't get anything on that. Now I know why
It's so strange to me how different bass lures work at different times. I use paddle tails or shrimp imitations on jig heads or weedless hooks all year long in the saltwater. We change the sizes of tails according to the bait around, and we change the retrieval speed. And it's basically the same with hard plastics. So it's funny to me that bass will stop hitting certain lures.
As someone who spent their whole life fishing freshwater until I moved to eastern NC 2 years ago, it still blows my mind how much simpler inshore saltwater fishing is and how much less I spend on gear now that I rarely fish freshwater.
The only thing I've really had luck on in my river since I started kayak fishing a month ago was a wacky rigged black with blue flake dinger or stik-o. I just caught my pb largemouth today so I'm glad it didn't get the memo to lay off of them yet!!! 😂 I've gotten a few on a sexy shad crankbait and texas rigged dinger also but thats about it! I might have to change it up this month! Thanks for the tips!
We've been slamming smallies in New England on deep diving cranks in 20 - 30 feet of water through August and September. Fish what works for you in your area.
Thats funny i just won a bass tourney at our lake yesterday trolling the biggest crankbait I had in 20' of water because nothing else worked and the other teams struggled using all the other methods that I also tried. I was pre fishing the day before and my back hurt so I tried trolling and caught a few including a 19" .
Randy, what do I do with old reels or reels that are aging and starting to grind. I’m about to update a lot of my gear. Wanted to know what guys do with their old stuff
Most guys have them serviced and cleaned. I do them for a lot of guys in my area for $30 + cost of any parts that are needed. Most come out feeling like new or new if I have to add a fresh gearset.
He must have one of those floating buzzbaits because when I stop mine it sinks. I've never caught a fish by stopping my buzz bait? Vary speeds yes stop no.
I agree with 4 of the 5...Big baits, I'm convinced are attractive to the bigger bass 12 months/year....just common sense for me, a bigger fish would rather eat less often, use less energy for a bigger meal..just my experience, as big glides/swimbaits, big walking baits, and even big rats have worked well for me end of summer/early fall...quick question for anyone to respond...if u could only have 1 set up rod/reel/line to use...what would it be? No leaders for line, just 1 line type & lb., brand
@@winchestermodel7044 interesting u went with fluoro...looking at my 29 rod/reel combos 😄, I was curious what I'd choose if I could use just 1 for most techniques i typically use. ...I settled for 7' med/heavy 20lb. Sufix Seige mono for an all-purpose setup
@@robertneal6878 I've seen lakes with big baitfish schools & schools with smaller baitfish at the same time..2 different types of baitfish I'm guessing...I'll always believe bigger fish would rather eat bigger meals...won't catch as many using bigger baits, but it's more fun throwing big baits to me.....I've caught 5 lb. Bass on trout colored big baits, with no trout in the lake...Bass are the ultimate predator..food is food...if people are interested in more the 1-3 lb. Fish, then smaller profile baits are likely more effective
@@winchestermodel7044 for a single rod I would certainly not go higher than 14 lb flouro. even with that you cant really do any light weight presentations.
The new place looks great. Like the multi door setup in the garage.
I love how down to earth this video is with your boy riddin in on his little utv 😂 awesome!!

Nice improvisation with your son there. When is the tour of that garage gonna happen?
New setup is sweet!
With the bass still chasing shad, I've had good success with the jigging spoon (but only swimming it horizontally).

Would really like to see some videos on river fishing.
Funny 🤔 my shad color DT 10 slays them in September especially on rocky banks.

The least productive lures are the ones I throw.😂

This is my favorite top/bottom 5 series, thanks Randy🎣
One nice thing about ponds is you don't have to worry about times of the year when bass are supposed to be scattered.
Heddon torpedo is a prop bait that works very well in September
What lures would use use the first week of October on Fort loud and Tellico Lake

Been having good luck at the river lately with senkos

Congratulations on the house upgrade!
Thx man!
And the fishing tournament on fishing is 7 in the morning till 3 in the afternoon

I just have them rebuilt
These are good videos
Try using the hubber rig, use it like a jerk bait
I have been catching some better fish lately by following your advice on walking topwater lures.
Are you talking about the south I live in Ohio and it’s the best month

Caught 7 fish in 2 hours in the rain this morning
Ban those lures in September!

A med/hvy 7’3” rod, a 6.8:1 reel with 14 pound fluorocarbon line

@andybales7318 I presumed that the bait fish would be bigger this time of the year, and they would be foraging/feeding on the big ones.
