Tough going - done those sections several times and they never get any easier. Was once on the summit of Mt. Moriah and paused for a snack of pepperoni. There were 4 college kids there and one of them said, "Hey, mister, is that pepperoni?" I responded, "Yeah, you want some?" Well, they were all over me and the pepperoni like cats on a mouse, in a nanosecond - darned near cleaned me out in under 5 minutes. It was a good moment - glad they helped me eat the pepperoni. We went our separate ways, but the memory remains. Be well, stay safe.
Props to the 'hut keepers' in the Whites . . . all food and supplies are carried up by hand, during season to feed over 100 tourists a day. Think about the steepness of the ups from nearest parking lot, carrying 150#s in a wooden framed ruc up to a 5k high hut! . . . hut workers usually come from colleges in NE. Great experience. Thu hikers can work to stay. Tourist pay . . . 100$ per night. Its a wonderful system for tourists.
These epic views atop the Carter-Moriah range never get old. The juice is definitely worth the squeeze in The Whites. I've got a feeling you're gonna be a hurtin' unit tomorrow morning. Get some rest and nourishment Nyx. Take care ✌️
Wow, Stella! Maybe you could write a poem about "When the going gets tough, the tough gets going"! I can't imagine hiking down that steep descent by headlamp! Stay safe, Stella & Leffie!
1882.3* - Total miles from Amicalola Falls. 85.4% - Accomplished. 320.9 - Miles remaining to Katahdin (2198.4**). 19.9 - Miles this day from Osgood Campsite (1850.1) to Pinkham Notch/Rte 16 (1857.6) 18.3 - Average miles per day for the second day in a row. 19.8 - Average miles per day less the 8 zero days. 18 - Estimated days remaining to Katahdin. * All mileage is from the NPS/ATC online map. ** End milage change from 2170.
Wondering how you'd deal with the anomaly. Kind of humorous, hike 21 miles and now the rest of the hike is ~ seven miles longer! I've had days like that ;^)
I am assuming that Nyx updated you on mileage. It's interesting seeing the percentages change slightly and the estimated time to completion change as well. Your comments are definitely always appreciated when I watch a video. They are so informative, especially if I missed the mileage in the video.
Fabulous video. Your vlogs are well thought-out, well edited, and well narrated. You're making great progress and keeping a super attitude. Thanks for the enriching experience and for taking me along. Walk on.
Bravo to your astounding effort! Incredible determination and outrageous views. Cheers to a strong will and mindful spirit! Thanks. Be well. Be safe. Wishing you peace, restful moments and fair weather ahead. Happy Trails!
Gosh! What an Olympian Effort! A true testimony to your strength, endurance, and courage. I hope your knees and whole body are doing okay after that. Have a good rest! 🌸🧡
Your best video do far! Amazing sunset….like a movie shot. Those birds will eat straight off your palm….birds in the whites are “trained”….:-). Amazing day….
Those black and white birds are the Canadian Grey Jay's, put a little breaad in your hand and hold it out to them they will land on your finger tips and take the bread, other wildlife to look for are ,minks ,fishercats and sure you'll see some loons, enjoy!!!!
Wow that's amazing! Beautiful views for mountain goat's and eagles 😅 kinda a bit breezy up there. ;) That's a beautiful area for sure but those hills are not for a newbie. 😅 Well done! ❤ Thanks for sharing! Happy hiking to you all!! Be careful stay safe and enjoy your Hike. 🙏
Amazing views! Thanks for sharing. I hope you took a zero the next day. When I hiked that section it seemed like I would never get to the top of Mt. Moriah because of all the false summits. I was too tired to hike the 0.1 to the summit.
Try slipping your braces over your tights to prevent chafing. My wife does that when she plays PB and it helps tons... but I do have to hold the bottom of her tights down while she pulls them up
Great hike Stella glad you had a lighter pack. The wild cats are awesome too with the lookout platform and great views of Washington. My biggest day in the whites was a Prezi traverse all the peaks in presidential range in one day 21.7 miles we started at 7am and finished at 130am. We took lots of breaks and spent an hour on top of Washington for some lunch. and we saw fireworks on top of mt Pierce looking down at the fireworks it was great.. Have fun up in Maine.
Sometimes the material those sleeves are made of aren't skin friendly. I've had to cut up a pillow case and put pieced inside the sleeve or back brace to help with irritation!! What a beast of a day!!You're doing great!! Sending lots of good vibes for you guys!!
I wonder if something like a Tegaderm dressing on the back of your knee would solve your problem? It's basically just a clear film. I find that it sticks well, and prevents rubbing on sore bits. It's sold at some Walgreens, Target, Walmart.. I really think it could help.
Is it ever not windy on the NH mountain tops? Seems every video I've seen, it's really windy. And you guys definitely made the wise choice by staying at the hostel.
Interview with Stella! Me: what’s your favorite part of the AT so far? Stella: like, *sigh*, soooo many things. I guess I love the people. And veggie burgers. I know slack packing and staying in towns can feel like you are cheating or whatever else shame that your ego puts on you. Honestly, some of my favorite times were doing both. It’s different than just hiking day to day so you can actually remember it.
I can't believe you did not take some form of shelter and a stove on this hike. Sleeping bag rain gear and snacks don't cut it. Seems like others could have been put at unnecessary risk if you needed to be rescued in that weather.

I think the Blue wanted some of your snacks, if u held your hand out they would of sat on your hand. Very friendly
You and your hiking friends must be in a amazing physical shape, 15 hours over atrocious terrain! And you are doing it just for fun!😁Greetings from 🇨🇦
YOU ARE AWESOME!!! So glad that your friend stayed with you he is just as awesome as you are all of you are! all three!
Guys have a funny habit of hanging around.....;^)
Great day. 6 miles up is amazing. Then later the snow and darkness. Thanks to both of you for a presence together and a support. Thank you driver.

That’s crazy! What a long day through rough terrain. Awesome job! Hope you take a zero and so glad Leffe hiked with you.
Always great to start with a water view. Cute little birds almost blown away. What a tough long day.

Lovely sunset shots Stella. Well done for getting through this long day.

Wow, way to go! Meanwhile I’m sitting on a white sand beach in FL. Thanks for taking me with you each morning!
Well, in a sense, you're walking across lots of rocks too, just very tiny ones.
Wildcats, Carter's, and Moriah in one day is a long day for sure . Too long but also very cool. Great job. Done with the Whites
Fabulous views! Your endurance and stamina are amazing.
Those black and white birds are the Canadian Grey Jay's, put a little breaad in your hand and hold it out to them they will land on your finger tips and take the bread, other wildlife to look for are ,minks ,fishercats and sure you'll see some loons, enjoy!!!!

Happy Saturday 😂
7:58…. Wow! Amazing ✌🏼
Amazing! Glad you had a buddy to do that hike with otherwise it would not have been as much fun. We all need a tribe.
This was one of my favorite videos you’ve made ! The scenes were awesome!
That was a long day good going 😊
Try slipping your braces over your tights to prevent chafing. My wife does that when she plays PB and it helps tons... but I do have to hold the bottom of her tights down while she pulls them up
That was a tough but beautiful hike! 🚶🏽♀️👍🏻🙂
What a long day but better than if you hadn't waited a bit.
Wow, Cayote-We can only imagine how much more difficult in horrible rainy weather!
Congratulations on that very difficult hike. I hope your knees are still talking to you! Be careful out there!
Lol, her knees are probably po'd. ;^)
I'm crying.... looking forward to how you are now. What a push.

If the huts aren’t staffed then they are self service. That means you can sleep there for $20. When they are open they are $100 a bunk. Lucky you.
Loved seeing this video, i'll be heading up there to do the Wildcats and Carters later this summer (working on the 48 in NH)
Stay safe!
That's crazy.... 21 miles...
😊😊😊. I bet you are almost done. 😊😊😊
Amazing views! That wind was crazy! Stay strong.
What a day..views were amazing. Wondering if any linament...like an
Icy Hot type of OTC rub would help your knees.
I believe you more than earned the trail name of Nyx during this day of hiking! 😱
I wonder if something like a Tegaderm dressing on the back of your knee would solve your problem? It's basically just a clear film. I find that it sticks well, and prevents rubbing on sore bits. It's sold at some Walgreens, Target, Walmart.. I really think it could help.

Wow, I’m exhausted! Think I’ll take a “0” today…😊
Kudos ❤
❤❤❤
Pinkham Notch!!!
The Whites look bad ass hard and fun

After listing what is in your pack, my question is what did you leave behind? Not sure I would call it a slack pack! You rock!
I think she stuffed it with Helium balloons.
Tarp and food? Food weighs a lot.
What date are to trying to hit Katahdin

I thought the same..worth a try if they would stay up over her pants.
Sounds like you earned another zero or at least a nero! 😂
