Putting the police aside, Antioch is a horrible city, no one feels safe, can't even go walking to the store without the possibility of getting robbed

I wonder who found those texts and how? Obviously someone turned them in so maybe one of the officers didn't turn a blind eye? Here's hoping someone in that department isn't racist or homophobic. I find it really sad since I was born and raised in the Bay Area and it's one of the most racially diverse areas in CA. I thought the people there were usually pretty inclusive but after moving away 25 years ago, I see things have changed for the worse. Those officers need to be fired in order for the citizens to feel safe.

About 35 years ago I drove up to Antioch to visit a new friend, a Black man from South America. We went to Contra Loma Park and played chess. After spending a pleasant time together, we drove out of the lot where I had parked my car. I had no sooner made the right turn out of the parking lot than a police car pulled me over and said that I had been speeding. My friend told me not to give the cop any lip, so I did my best. After I signed the ticket and the cop left, I asked my friend how it could have been possible that I was speeding when I had just turned into the street? He said I got a ticket because the cop didn't like seeing a White person and a Black person in the same car. Gosh, it's taken that long for the world to pick up on the racism of the Antioch police?
Will gladly take our tax payer money but not do what it is asked of them. I hope the city purges the department and get new, educated people in charge.
