I love love this perfume. It’s the first one I’ve purchased in a little over a year after overcoming an addiction to buying fragrances😩 addiction is real and it really costed me a lot of money. Anyways, I am so happy with this one. I love it!!! It’s so pretty, and very versatile and wearable. Sadly, most perfumes I’ve purchased in the past really aren’t wearable for me although I enjoy a lot of them. They’re not ideal for my day to day life.

I love the “cold” aspect to this scent!!
I planned on blind buying this when I first saw the marketing for it but I’m SO glad I smelled it in store instead. I HATED the citrus opening. It ruined the whole scent for me. I was genuinely hoping for a supremely gourmand experience and that’s not what this is.
When you said jello, I just was so excited because now I know what this smells like to me. Jello came out with a powdered jello mix many years ago called Jello Sparkling White Grape and basically it was a regular jello mix, but you mix it with Sprite or Sparkling Water instead of regular still water and when the jello has set up it has this really effervescent white grape (fruity) vibe going on. My friend mixed the Jello powder with Mountain Dew and it is almost spot on to what this fragrance smells like! I'm so thankful you that you made this comparison, it was driving me crazy!

I totally agree with the citrus opening and the powdery, laundry aspect. I'm glad I finally get some nuts and rummy sweetness in the dry down. I like layering it with philosophy fresh cream to get it more milky. Lasting power is nil but I do ultimately like the blend. It's very nice but ultimately not as yummy as I expected. Princess is a top 3 all time for me.
To me it smells clean sweet. It is the kind of perfume that is a good balance between those two for hot humid summers in the South (I live in the south in the US). 100% a good going out scent if for 90+ Fahrenheit weather. To me it is giving summer brunch vibes or cool summer night.

Your initial reactions are just like mine. I was SO confused. I wasn’t sure if I liked it. I tested it again today and found myself really enjoying the scent and couldn’t stop sniffing my wrist. It’s very different. When I take the “yum” part out and my expectations, I really came around to enjoying this one. It is a unique combination of sweet, fresh and powdery.
Omg, at first sniff i loved it so much, it just smelled so luxurious, i haven't quite smelled any perfume like this yet, but after 15 minutes the scent disappeared from my skin like Cinderella fairy god mother 😢
I layered this with Boardwalk Delight and the result was more how I expected this fragrance to smell. Yum!

I really like this fragrance. I see it being a beautiful day scent for late spring. I have heard they used a special technology that makes it “smell like the taste” of real pistachio gelato. I think they nailed it. It smells like the taste of expensive pistachio gelato. Not overly sweetened “green not found in nature” American Ice cream. It’s bright and light and nutty and smooth. I think they screwed up with the marketing though. The photos made it sound sweeter and thicker than it is.
That being said, Olivier Cresp is the perfumer for this one and he also created Mugler’s Angel. This seems like a modern version of that “complex gourmand” style of fragrance he invented. Compare the notes lists of these two on fragrantica and I think you’ll see what I’m talking about! Yum Pistachio isn’t nearly as powerful as Angel, mind you.
Lauren! I love Princess and Boardwalk Delight but DID NOT like this one. It's very soapy and astringent to me, I don't get any of the sweetness. However, you've convinced me I need to spray it on my skin one more time next time I'm in a Sephora, just to triple check I still hate it lol. Thanks for your review!
I love this perfume! I agree it smells niche and so well blended! I enjoy the fresh creamy kind of soapiness I get from this too.

omg i’ve been waiting for this!! i got the 10 ml. it def reads more fresh/floral than i was hoping which is a bummer. but it really feels like one that may grow on me but probably not one id ever buy full price.
oh and i totally love vanilla royale and would be tempted by a full bottle but probably on sale.
100% agree with your review ! I also smell the citrus in the opening and after I get a clean-nutty-cotton candy scent. For me, it’s perfect for spring and summer, because it’s not too heavy or sticky sweet 😅
It's a no for me ,it didn't work with my body chemistry. I'm glad I bought the travel size. I gave it to my mom , she loves it 😊.
I got a sample of this and didn't think I would like it. Well, I'm obsessed! 😂 And I can't believe how little I have to spray on for the scent to last on me. Generally, I can't smell a perfume on me after a few hours, but this one is still there! Will definitely be buying a larger bottle after the sample one is done. ❤
This is the best description I’ve heard of this fragrance. A creamy jello mold! Let us know if this fragrance changes after a month now that it’s had oxygen introduced.
I really enjoyed this the second time I tried it in Sephora, and I came so close to snagging the last travel they had in stock…BUT I didn’t cave. I stuck to my no-buy year I’m doing. Stayed strong. And I’m enjoying what I already have in my collection this year. However, I’ll definitely get at least a travel in 2024, maybe one of Girl of Now too, so I can compare pistachio scents. I already have Sol De Janeiro Cherieso 62 (I think that’s the name) in a travel and I like it but it may not be full bottle worthy. It’s much sweeter than Pistachio Yum Gelato, still nice.

I blind bought this just based on your review and I LOVE IT!! I think I’m discovering that pistachio is my signature note. 🤯 Between this and the original Sol de Janiero, and my favorite-favorite Madeleine by Masque Milano (they say it’s a chestnut accord, but it’s so similar to the pistachio), I might have my signature scents!
Definitely not a blind buy. I am in love with it. Definitely pulls more nutty on me than what others are experiencing, so to me it is more of a fall scent.
Spot on review. I like it but didn't expect it. My husband didn't love it either. It changes as you wear it. You get different notes depending on the day, I find. Can't wait to see how it performs in the spring and summer. I enjoy it.
I definitely is a shifty one!! Which is kinda fun that is more of a ride than just a linear wear!! I can’t wait to see how it will be in summer too!
This is a pass for me because I don’t particularly like fresh fragrances and kayalis always struggle to perform on my skin, but I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
I find the perfumes last when I spray my hair;use lotion then spray before it's all sunken in. My skin eats perfume too. I become noseblind really fast unless its a potent one like Killians Angel Share--That one lasts until I wash it off
i blind bought it and already sold it 😅 it just gave baby wipes for me and once i had that thought it was over!

I ordered mine on launch day and it came within a few days. I love it. I also get a freshness from it that normally I'm not into, but love in this perfume. The opening for me is a juicy blast of pistachio, pear, and rum. I get the gourmand notes in the drydown (whipped cream, marshmallow, and cotton candy) which is fine with me. I'm definitely going to be wearing this through spring and summer. But I also think it's ok for any season. Especially layering it with Vanilla 28 in the colder months.
My experience, if anyone cares: I visited Sephora today looking to test the new Victor Roff , Tiger Lily, fragrance. While there, I saw this Kay Ali fragrance but wasn’t drawn to the notes, though the bottle is pretty. After trying several fragrances, an employee recommended this Kay Ali, so I sprayed it. Surprisingly, I liked it. The dry down is very nice but subtle. This is not for people who love floral scents or if you like fragrances with an epic silage. However, I can see this being worn in the spring and summer seasons. I would also recommend layering this scent with maybe an apple flavored lotion.
I got a travel size at first after seeing mixed reviews. I was disappointed at first, because I was expecting it to be more gourmand and pistachio strong…and when I saw it said intense on the bottle, I expected it to last like Vanilla Royale does. The more I wore it though and layered it also with different body cream scents/fragrances…im obsessed now 😂!! I got the biggest bottle and will be wearing this a lot this spring/summer!! Definitely still getting Kyse’s pistachio fragrance and want to try the DS & Durga. Btw this layered with the Kyse marshmallow cream…absolutely delicious!!!
So interesting I don't get anything soapy or laundry like. I get a super sweet gourmand almost cold or zingy lime hazelnut mix. I am absolutely obsessed and it'll be perfect for summer but so bummed it doesn't last long. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts 😊
Hi again Danielle 😂!! We have the same take on this for sure and I did get the biggest bottle at this point…it really grew on me and I’m loving layering it with different scents!!

It was love at first sniff for me. I really enjoy this scent especially the drydown. I don’t get a lot of powder which is good. It’s light, Airy. Good for warm weather. Wearable in cold weather. It gives a gelato feeling. The pistachio is light. Maybe layered with pistachio body cream will enhance that. Glad I got this scent
I bought the travel size as a blind buy and it definitely wasn’t what I had expected! I almost got a masculine vibe from it when I first sprayed it, I don’t know how to describe it. I don’t love it but I don’t hate it. I wore it to work last week and my coworker told me I smelled like Cinnamon Toast Crunch 😅.
I much rather smell like cinnamon toast crunch then musky man scent. It seems like all of these expensive perfumes smell exactly like musk after they dry down
This is such a strange one for me. If I spray it on my skin and wait like 2 hours it smells sweet. But on my clothes??? Cheap soap.
I don’t love how unpredictable the scent is to my nose. At it’s best- I like it. And it’s worst I just am so turned off.
I wish they had listed more of the un-gourmand notes on Sephora cause I feel like the notes listed are misleading imo.

So I imagined it to be boring. But it actually took me on a journey and I got addicted to the smell on my hand.
Somehow it reminds me a bit of Lancome Lavandes Trianon. Matbe its the milky/herbal note..

This one needs to macerate IMO. I’ve had my travel spray sitting for three weeks and the juice has darkened a little and it’s smells so different than it did when I first received. I think it will really bloom in the warmer weather.
I got this just yesterday in the mail. It didn't smell like what I envisioned but I love it.
Just got mine today and I love it! It's more complex than I expected, but smells amazing, especially once it warms up on the skin.
I kinda love that it isn’t linear and takes you on a ride!

Your eye makeup is gorgeous! For me, I get a cologne scent on my skin after I spray it but the dry down is very pretty.

I've been so curious to hear this review and see everyone's comments! This is such a unique fragrance and I like it but it's not at all what I was expecting. On me I totally get the powdery/soapy fresh scent and I get NO creaminess/milkiness at all. Only a little bit of nuttiness. I've been experimenting layering it with creamier vanillas to make it a little more what I was hoping for, but haven't found the right combo just yet.

The notes sounded right up your alley so I was excited to hear your take Lauren! I also love the bottle and I'm excited that this Kayali's first vegan gourmand - their fresher/fruity scents tend to be vegan (Juicy Apple, Burning Cherry, Citrus), but the warm gourmands like Vanilla, Coco Utopia, etc, are not. Then again, from your review it sounds like this is more in their fresh vein than the star notes would have you believe! Regardless, I have my fingers crossed that ALL of their new releases will be vegan from now on, we don't need animal testing OR animal ingredients in 2023!
what makes kayali vanilla not vegan? i had no idea!
@@Corn22 I'm not sure, but most of their line isn't. Aside from this new one and the three I mentioned Elixir is their only other vegan fragrance. It's easy to get tripped up since the whole line is considered cruelty free and usually a house is fully vegan and CF or not at all, but they are an exception.

Thank you for reviewing this! I have been torn about ordering this one. No sephora stores near me have it to stock for me to smell. I was really hoping it'd be very nutty and milky, so idk if it will be for me. Soapy, powdery scents are definitely not for me.

I just got this perfume and I have to say the mixed reviews threw me off but this is just a perfume that it depends on the user lol. On me when I spray it it’s very gourmand I get the sweet rum, the pistachio, along with a bit of a limey vibe then on the dry down I get that marshmallow and the cotton candy heavy so much so it gave me flash backs of pink sugar by aqualina just a more grown up version. I was like wow. I really liked it it’s perfect but again, I think it really comes down to body chemistry due to it having all those notes. 💚

Ok I picked up the travel size. Hoping I love. My favorite Kayali is Elixir 11 but I never really hear anyone talking about that one. Am I the only one out here loving that one? Lol maybe?? But I had to go out and buy the Full Size of Elixir 11 because I love so much.

I LOVE this fragrance. I understand it completely & its perfect for summer. I deff get more of the sweet notes on my skin🤤. On paper its deff more citrusy. I dont get anything soapy at all not even close lol
I picked this up after seeing mixed reviews.
First of all, I'm glad we got a Kayali fragrance without patchouli in it, they are few and far between.
I also get a bit of soft citrus in the beginning, drying down to powdered sugar, and cream, with a hint of nuttiness.
I think it's too warm to be pistachio gelato.
I feel like they could have called this scent Vanilla Milk and just done away with the hideous atrocity that was the Ellis Brooklyn VM. It is softer and less intense than typical Kayali scents, it's almost an Ariana Grande vibe.
It's not quite nutty enough or sweet enough to be pistachio gelato, in my opinion. But still a sophisticated light and dreamy vanilla with a bit more powder than creaminess.
I just tested on my hand and for me it’s opened like a very sweet mojito 😅and then like a pistachio ice cream so I will definitely get a full bottle

Too funny; I just hobbled my injured butt to the mailbox @ 8:30 pm Sephora told me my Yummy Perfume had arrived. I am just now opening the small travel size...dun dun verdict is: at first spray YES yes and yes. Thank goodness.I really can smell the Pistachio. I had watched many reviews and frankly I was so scared I would hate it. I am not that into the "soapy" scents. I bought the replica sampler pack and hated every single one; all it smelled like was those old ass fancy soaps and alcohol. MY HUSBANDS REVIEW OF THIS IS: at a distance I smell cotton Candy, up close Its a bit detergenty, in a good way. It's different and I am happy but I would'nt buy a full size. SMELLS LIKE THE NEW DOWNY RINSE AIDE with the teal label

I feel like it has a kind of generic body that leans a bit mature to my nose. Wasn't nearly as whimsical as I had hoped. As I wore it and kept smelling it really grew on me. Unfortunately the travel sprays were cleaned out, but I'll def eventually pick one up to see if I like it long term.

I'm scared by all of the floral notes that people are getting from this perfume. My skin tends to pull out the florals in a fragrance, and they tend to give me a headache. I've tested and fallen in love with Pistachio by D.S. & Durga as my pistachio perfume of choice.

I personally don’t love the bottle, I think the white cap makes it looks cheaper than the normal caps, but that’s a personal preference
I knew I smelt citrus! I kind of liked it and think I might purchase the travel spray during the Sephora Sale, even though I'm not typically a gourmand lover (though I do love pistachio and almond).
It reminds me of the "Watergate salad" that my mom used to make for Thanksgiving - pistachio pudding mix, canned pineapple, marshmallows, nuts, and cool whip. 😂
I’m actually didn’t get any citrus, powdery, floral and clean scents from it lol. It’s a straight up gourmand to me, a prefect one for the warm weather.

I appreciate the review but I’m so glad I tries this is store and on first smell I liked it but as I wore it it got more and more sweet and powdery neither of which I like. It stuck on me. When I woke up the next morning I could still smell it. I’m glad others love it but I’m really glad it was out of stock in the travel size when I tried it or I would’ve bought it and ended up never using it and trying to pass it on.
I blind bought the travel size and this is the first one from Kayali that I can't stand... To me it smells like those cheap little small bar of soap you get in a cheap hotel or motel

I think this and the previous release are sort of verging on 'false selling'; with all the promo shots promising something so very different. Vanilla 21 is still a favourite and repurchase.
I think it's not gourmand enough for my taste and what I was expecting upon hearing the description and notes, but I haven't tried it in person so I'm not sure how I feel about this release
I would love if you could smell the “Pistachio brule” scent from Urban Outfitters and compare the two.
They are completely different. Pistachio Brûlée is a straight gourmand and similar to Cheirosa ‘62.
I'll wait for a sale to get the big bottle
