This is absolutely heart breaking after recently hearing of his passing. Rest easy brother. Hope you are finally at peace.

I'm not sure I've ever felt closer to a 'celebrity'. The man was a living open wound, a manifestation of pain in an oddly beautiful way. I miss him like I do some lost and loved family members.

Yes. I understand. Many of his listeners feel the same. I'm a native Nashvillian and hearing him talk about growing up in Nashville and knowing he went to the same clubs and what not that I did and hearing him speak his mind about "new Nashville" always made me feel close to him too. I attended his tribute show at The Ryman this week. Peace and comfort to all of his family, friends, and fans.

If you all can’t see it, this is prime example of the sober JTE, talking about the circumstances of his own demise. The man was defiantly self aware if not straight up STUBBORN. And no, I did not know him. I know myself. What a great cover song. When his voice breaks on a line, that’s the one leading to his heart. Hard to fathom it all.

Little eerie now.... being around Nash I got to see him often ..always cool with fans... once he freely walked around the grounds at Fontanel pre show ...all smiles... That's mine... that image is for me.

Same memory I have of him very likeable approachable guy, I spoke to him for quite a while, before he went on stage in Melbourne Australia.
We spoke about many things including drugs and the gun story that his dad generally mentions prior to playing "Devils Right Hand"
Justin confirmed the story as Steve tells it, admitting that he was a handful and didn't go easy, laughing as he was telling me.
Parts of that conversation, have an effect on me now when I think about Justin, what could have been.
I for one will very greatly miss him, so sad far too young, I also feel so sorry for Steve as I think he constantly worried about this very thing happening.

Saw JT at Glastonbury in 2017, playing in one of the smaller tents. I’d sought him out, having heard several of his records. It was apparent that few folk in the UK had heard of him; he played a beautiful set for about 30 people. I was very sad when I heard the news a couple of years or so later.

It seems like a lifetime ago I took up tips for Justin at the H2O, and It literally was. This is surreal.

“As if I didn’t know my own bed.” Not an original but your voice really carried this song.
    JTE, you da man.

A tasty version. This acoustic really emphasizes how well this song is written. Wow. Thanks.

Have always been a big fan of Steve but wasn't familiar with his boy. Glad I came across Justin even if he'd sadly passed, great talent taken to soon.

Crazy that he talks about drugs being more fentanyl than the actual drug and his death being attributed to cocaine being laced with fentanyl. R.I.P Justin.

I just wonder who sold it to him. Surely he thought he was buying from a clean secure source. I wish whoever cut the drugs he consumed could be tried for manslaughter.

9:05 that comment is so frustrating because he knew about fentanyl being used to cut and that’s what killed him. Such a loss and a waste.

For all the empty headed tea totalers who poo poo cannabis use, how is it all the great artists flock to it? Listen to Mudcrutch's I forgive it all and tell me about it's averse effects.

bpalpha: Tom Petty, another one we lost too soon. In his documentary he commented about a song " I could smoke a joint and write a better song than that". I believed him.
