  • This was a short 3 day backpacking trip in the central Superstition Wilderness in Arizona in early January 2021. The route starts and ends from the Tortilla/Peter's Trailhead, which involves a 3 mile road walk in and out. I took Hoolie Bacon trail out to Brads Water on the 1st night. Then I took Red Tanks Canyon to Fraser Canyon, did a pretty tough ascent up Woodbury & JF Trails to Tortilla Pass next to LaBarge Mountain. On the last day I took the very scenic JF Trail back to the car. This is a fairly grueling route on the 2nd day. I would only recommend it to very fit hikers due to the elevation gain, rugged terrain and lack of water. However, if you are up for all that - the views and diversity of scenery are worth it!
