Lock Bars, Detents and First Knives - Knife Vlog 4

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 10 ก.พ. 2025
- In this Video I'll be working on two folding knives. A frame lock and a liner lock. I will drill the handle holes for the liner lock, do the counterbores for the pivot and pivot heads on both folders. Then I cut and bend the lock bars, drill and set the detents and grind the lock faces on both blades.

Wow Brother!!! I'm a very sentimental guy, and there isn't much that I wouldn't do, to own any of your first knives! Your first one would be priceless, in anyone's collection, in my mind! I really appreciate you showing us your earliest pieces! 💯💙😎👍🏻
Ha thanks but these will stay in the box lol. My kids will have them to ponder. They were part of the learning process and I continue to learn. Glad you enjoyed it my friend. 🙂
That’s awesome! I have my box of reminders as well. It’s good to revisit them and see the progress. Makes me appreciate the journey to get where I am! You’re motivating me to make time and make a folder! Awesome video as always Tony! I appreciate you my bro! 🤘🏻🇺🇸🤘🏻
Yes you right my friend. Awesome man, I want to see it. Thanks brother!
Everyone has to start somewhere.. I still have my first one. A little 6 in patch knife, O-1 steel and maple handle scales. About 43 years ago.. glad you are feeling better!
Yes you right! Awesome my friend. Nothing like looking back to our beginnings. Thank you my friend. 🙂
As always- excellent and pretty sweet ride through the shop! Bravo again. You're doing very well at spreading the education and the spirit of the maker! Excellent work!
Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. 🙂
I have my second knife I ever made. Gave the first one to my best friend. Been friends since grade school. It's out of a leaf spring with a hidden tang in a red oak handle. It's sharp!
He uses it as a letter opener. lol.
That’s awesome man! 🙂
Hello Tony. It was both entertaining and recreational. I like natural conversation . Thankyou for sharing your know how..😃
Hello Harry, thank you for the kind words. I appreciate your support and listening to my jibber jabber. 😁
Great video again.....thanks 😀😀
Thank you!!
Man!! Your journey has been great to watch. I'm glad I found you many years ago. I enjoy watching you "make do" with the tools you have and making them perform to achieve the final goal, in unconventional ways. I think that's the true mark of a brilliant maker!
That ball-slide/notch is pretty damn cool and when you flipped it open the 1st time, it was like butter! Anyone would be grateful to have that as an EDC...mostly to show it off, but also drive it 'til the wheels fall off!
Thank you my friend, I appreciate the kind words and for hanging around. I really appreciate the support. 🙂
I can see them getting tidier and the blades more practical,
I made my first actual scaled knife not very long ago to be honest, Ive made a ton of blacksmith or Viking belt knives billhooksa machetes that kind of tooling and theyre all a simple oil quench then put them on hot bricks to temper.
I had a tapered engineers 1095 file that belonged to my grandfather, then father and was passed on to me so I decided to make a shop knife from it...bowie tip and ground down so you can still see the file teeth, I kept the original file handle shape then I used two of my old t-shirts to make micarta scales and used some brass pins that my son bought for me for the handle. It looks a bit clunky, kind of heavy still but it works. I even heat treated it in the house fire instead of my forge, I wouldnt have dared use something with so much meaning before I started watching all you knife guys so I appreciate everything you put out there for us. Moving on a little bit and Ive just made a small paring knife again from 1095 but with a fatter handle than normal since I have rheumatoid arthritis. Maybe I'll improve more. I'm very much a blacksmith dabbling in bladesmithing
thanks for sharing
Cool stuff man. Yeah the more you do anything, hopefully the better you get. I constantly learn new things. It’s part of growing. Stay with it my friend and I appreciate you watching.
@TonySeverioKnives im always up for a good learning experience
🙂🙂
Thanks for sharing, glad ur feeling better mate
You’re welcome and thank you!
I think we’ve all got a “few” that weren’t good enough. Kudos to you for being willing to show them to us! Mine will not be shown😂
Yes indeed! lol I don’t mind. They’re definitely bottom of the barrel and that’s why they won’t ever leave. 😂🙂
Looking forward to the next one! Couple of those knives look like Bubba got ahold of em! lol.
Thanks! Yeah no doubt! 😂😂😁
