I believe this concert performance of "Gravity" was right around the time of EXO's "Obsession" MV comeback in 2019, so there were only 6 members in this performance. (If you notice, Baekhyun has pink hair, so this also means it was right around SuperM's debut as well.) Yes, D.O. and Xiumin entered the military within a couple of months of each other. Xiumin enlisted in May 2019 and D.O. enlisted in July 2019. D.O. enlisted early because he wanted to get it out of the way so that it didn't conflict with his drama shooting schedule. That's why, even though D.O. is one of the younger members of EXO, he was one of the first to enlist. This was right before Suho enlisted in the military as well.
Simon replaying Kai and Chanyeol's parts is so real T T I love listening to the live version of gravity cause I get to hear more of kai. His vocal tone is so unique and people dont talk about it much.
Gravity is one, in a long line, of my favourite EXO songs. It is such a bop. You know how you relate some songs to certain members? To me Gravity is Kai’s song. It was the first time I really registered his voice and realised how much I love it.
Speaking of Kai's live singing: i recommend you to watch some live performances of "Don't go", where he performed his parts in very deep baritone register. It sounded soooooo beautiful!

Yes, each member was talented; however, they have worked so hard, and continue their efforts, to show the audience stellar performances. Behind the stage lights are aches, pains, personal sacrifice, and a commitment to pursue perfection. They have faced ridicule, the departure of three members, the political isolation of Lay, injuries, stalking, and, painfully, scrutinized lives. Throughout it all, they have built a reliance, trust, plus a genuine affection and respect for each other. They celebrate their collective and individual accomplishments. We are no where near their species... they truly are Alien. Some people have yet to realize they live in an era with a group like EXO who can accomplish stamina/talent in one go round flawlessly. I feel you... they make you question the universe, you feel short changed. Chanyeol co-wrote Gravity and this performance with 3 men down solidified they aren't human. When I question them knowing what they can do I was floored by this performance, even had to hear the fan vids (Chanyeol tall as hell). D.O is indeed younger than Xiumin, but they enlisted only around 3 months appart, that's because Kyungsoo enlisted by request, he just cleared his schedules and went earlier. Before that, he went on a trip with Chanyeol , although they have a Tom&Jerry relationship on the spot light, they are very good friends, when Chanyeol had a vocal cords surgery and couldn't speak or do much, Kyungsoo went to his place and just played video games with him, without much to talk 😊 Before enlisting, Xiumin had a fan meeting where the other members surprised him by coming unannounced while being live on Instagram, even LAY called him in the show to support him, it was the first time when Xiumin cried on the stage, it was Kai's fault who started crying first 🥺

I often feel guilty how much I love this tour as Xiumin and D.O. were not there, but I do love it. Part is how much more vocals Kai has and I love his voice. His talent is off the scale and his stage presence is beyond, but what I love most about him is the pure joy he has in performing. He puts his whole self into it, he's totally committed. He has a creative ability and imagination that let's him take risks and the skill and confidence on stage as Kai to pull it off. I totally agree - he is completely amazing. D.O. went into the military early because of some of his acting commitments.
I was actually fortunate enough to see them perform this song live during the exploration concert…. And it was everything that you said and more! Korean men are supposed to enlist before 30 but they can also enlist earlier if they will. Fun fact: This track is written by Chanyeol and it's about Kyungsoo's Power. Hats off to our very talented songwriter Park Chanyeol. Also his sudden change in his flow was chef's kiss! ❤️

He is the second youngest idol to enlist - Sometimes people think Kai is lipsyncing, but he really just has that quality to his voice… the tone makes you think it’s lipsync, but he is actually very stable. Also, in some music shows the playback is way too loud… but also when he performs solo songs, the choreo is especially hard for the chorus part so usually he doesnt really sing much on top of the parts with hard choreo, but he sings the verses and the bridge clearly

Gravity hits different especially live! I love this song so much it even might be my favourite Exo b-side.. Above everything else I just love how their singing style in this matches perfectly with the song's lyrics.. You can feel the combination of pain+anger in their voices.. I don't know how many times I've watched this live performance I just can't get enough of it.. Also Kai's whole aura in this is 🔥🔥 I miss D.O and Xiumin but I am glad we got to hear more Kai because of their absence.. Chanyeol is also another level in this, I feel attacked 😅
D.O. enlisted early because he was going to be in the The Moon . The production team of the movie asked SM to allow him to enlist, while the sets were being made . if they waited he would have to enlist in the middle of production of The Moon
Not sure where you are getting your completely wrong information from. But just letting you know D.O.'s casting for the moon was announced towards the end of his enlistment and had no impact whatsoever on his early enlistment. Neither did AWTG3 or any other project. His enlistment happened because he was getting treated like he was invisible by the company and he probably wanted it to not conflict with his contract ending. He chose enlistment over a period of non-activity

No reason was given. But what we do know is that he had months of inactivity, before his enlistment and then there was the sudden enlistment news in June. As I said The Moon came later in his life, casting was announced in late 2020 if I remember correctly, and if you're talking about AWTG3, then it never started production so doesn't make sense to go through all that procedure before and during enlistment for a 'maybe'

D.O. and Xiumin were actually enlisted at the same time. D.O. enlisted way early because he had a contract for a film/drama that would be taking place during his military service, so to be sure he would be out before the start of that drama/film, he enlisted in the very beginning.
Yes, the words "believe" and "lie" are in English amongst the Korean lyrics. They play on that spelling exactly as you thought. The clever and meaningful lyrics were written by Chanyeol along with Kim Min Jung (who has written a lot for Seventeen and also wrote on Married to the Music for Shinee which you recently saw) Chanyeol is a prolific writer and has written for EXO as well as for other collabs. But especially with EXO-SC albums he is incredibly involved in writing and production.
D.O. confirmed he was not renewing his sm contract around this time and sm more or less benched him. He was excluded from group activities etc so he got his chefs license and then enlisted.
