I am still struggling with it, but i think it might also be because the Oboe i have at the moment is really old and hard to play anyways. Next Week i am going to get my new one which plays so much easier, then i will try again
great video! I’m working on the piece Le Api right now for oboe, and im starting to incorporate circular breathing into it, but i was wondering what you do with the “bad air” that you get built up when playing oboe. can you breath out while circular breathing as well?
In this piece you really need it. Very good question, the next step to master after inhaling is to exhale which is the more challenging thing especially if you don't want it to be noticed. I tend to prefer to inhale just a little bit so that bad air doesn't build up but that's just me. Also you can't really notice it. I would focus well on being very relaxed especially playing Le Api.
Thank you for this excellent video. When you’re demonstrating with the straw, are you alternating inhale and exhales? I can do it, but mostly on trills- would love to flip that w switch where it becomes second nature.
Do you have any tips for being able to store air in your cheeks densely with an open mouth? I can circular breath fine without opening my mouth. But when I try to store air in my cheeks while my mouth is open it’s sucks

The diaphragm is a sucker, the abdominal and intercostal muscles are the blowers, (and in circular breathing the cheek muscles)
