Thanks and thank you for helping to keep the Tamiya Clod Buster alive and well. It's funny how other monster trucks have come and gone during the Clod's lifetime but the original just keeps on lumbering along.
Modifying Clod Busters is a lot of fun (although extremely expensive) but I still love stock Clods too. Seeing one always takes me back to a simpler time in 1987 when I got my first one.

All must bow down to the Ultimate Clod Buster. So good to see the ESP King Clod in awesome condition to this day. I too lusted after it as a kid. Over the years I also built my own show Clods and one even made it into an R/C mag. Cheers.

Thank you for watching! It's fantastic to hear that I was not the only one that drooled over the ESP King Clod back in the day. Several people have contacted me and mentioned that they too lusted after it. Just curious, do you remember where you first saw it? Was it on an ESP catalog?
I have often wondered about what ever happened to all of the beautiful Clod Busters that appeared in R/C magazines like R/C Car Action. That was one of the reasons why I made these videos about the ESP King Clod. I thought that there might be people out there that wanted to know about what ever happened to it so hence I made these videos to show that it is still alive and being taken care of. It is a cherished member of my monster truck fleet!

That is awesome. Glad to see the original King Clod is in good hands! Torque must be crazy with the Stormer 4:1 gear reductions!

Amazing truck! The very definition of old-school cool😎 . I remember Onehammer from the forum too. Thanks for sharing and being so detailed!

Thanks and you're welcome! I knew that you were looking forward to seeing the ESP King Clod video. It's funny how a truck like this is considered "old school" now. That's how old I am - I vividly remember when lots of people built Clods like this! (Back before four link suspension systems were the norm.)
One Hammer was a great guy to deal with. He actually offered to sell me more of the ESP demo Clod Busters in his collection but I just did not have the budget after buying the King Clod. One truck that he offered to me was one that actually appeared in more ESP magazine ads than the King Clod. It was a much simpler truck that had the stock Tamiya plastic tub chassis. Here it is in three old ESP ads:
      discontinued.clod.parts/images/magads/89/esp/1.jpg
      discontinued.clod.parts/images/magads/89/esp/3.jpg
      discontinued.clod.parts/images/magads/90/esp/1.jpg
I wonder where that truck is today.
Thank you for watching. I think that not too many people are interested in the nitty gritty details but it's great to hear that at least one viewer is tuned in until the end of this video.

@@Holmanrc Though it is not quite like the 1980s and 1990s hey-day of modified Clod Busters, there are still aftermarket parts out there today. If you have any questions before you start your big Clod project, please let me know and I will try to answer them. Be prepared though because it does take quite a bit of cash to really modify a Clod Buster or Bull Head. Also, it does take a bit of patience as aftermarket Clod Buster parts are usually not avaiable at a local hobby shop.
For starters, you might want to take a look at the other videos that I made of my trucks. You might be able to get a few ideas or inspiration from them. The two videos that I made about my custom Bull Head that I named "Raging Bull" might be particularly helpful since I just recently completed that truck and thus it used a lot of parts that are still readily available right now.
Good luck on your Clod Buster project!

Thanks! I'm surprised by how many people actually remember the ESP King Clod. I always thought that I was the only one that drooled over it back in the day but there definitely were a few others out there that wanted it besides me.
I was thinking of doing a follow up video showing what's underneath the body. I imagine that a lot of people today have never seen a PDI Turbo Zeta ESC. Also, the upper radio plate for the King Clod was another one-off piece made from gold anodized aluminum. All other Clodzilla II chassis had plain silver aluminum radio plates.

I always thought that I was the only one that wanted it because I remember back in the RCMT days when I was the only guy that posted there about it. Great video, I use to love that truck, I got my clod buster in 89, had a lot of ESP parts on it, even brought the snowplow kit, like a idiot I got rid of it in 97, worst mistake I ever made, I just brought a black edition clod, never getting rid of this one! I did keep the snowplow, I just wish I had all the other ESP stuff

Thanks so much! Oh man, I have had quite a few opportunities to sell off many of my trucks over the years like that but I have resisted the temptation every time. I put all of my trucks and R/C equipment into storage for about twenty years when my new family life took priority over all of my hobbies. I never sold off anything though and I am so glad that I kept everything. I am so thankful that I kept even all of the stuff that is considered vastly outdated like my Tekin battery chargers, Novak Super Roosters, and my Futaba Magnum radio. It all still works and I am still using my old stuff today.
Congrats on the new Black edition Clod Buster and have fun with it. Welcome back to the club! It is still fun to build and modify Clod Busters and I don't think that I will ever completely get them out of my system.

Is the flow resistance coefficient of the Clod lower than a Tesla Model 3 ?

    • @Locoboy5150
      @Locoboy5150  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

You stumped me with that one. I am far from an expert on Tesla vehicles so I cannot even guess. I admit that I am a total gear head and not a sparky at all though so full scale electric vehicles are completely over my head.

@@19Marc79 Ah, yeah...I have to admit that though monster trucks do exist in countries outside of the US, I have never seen lifted 4x4s in the public in any country that I have been to other than over here in the US. Modified 4x4s seem to be just an American thing based on my casual observations when I have gone on vacation to other countries. It's not like I am not looking out for them too because I am always car/truck spotting when I am out and about.

I just bought a Stadium Thunder shelfie with perfect Airbrush custom paint body for 170 EUR and am super happy with it :) It will remain a shelfie though because of the brittle, old plastic chassis...It does nice wheelies on carpet indoor with the standard silvercan !

@@19Marc79 I have some Bruisers and Mountaineers that are the vintage originals and not the rereleases. I bought them second hand when I went through an obsession with the Tamiya three speed trucks. Back in the day I had a Blackfoot when that was first released but I sold it to buy my first Clod Buster when that truck was first released in 1987.
