#9 Flatfooting Basic Course - the Double Chug & Remedial Walking Step Tips - Miss Moonshine

- With the new iphone 4s, I recorded a lesson on double chug and mention a few tips on learning walking step (back chug) "second sound". Intended for the learner in their first week on the job, these are really important steps to learn for Appalachian flatfooting/buckdancing. I hope it helps get past that really hard first week of learning to teach yourself dance.
I am 63 years old and have Parkinson's, among other ailments, and have recently discovered this dance and I love it! It makes me so happy to watch and listen to and am determined to have a try at learning it. I have been searching for some one here on TH-cam with lessons who is good at explaining because my memory and "so on"LOL! are not the best. You Ma'am, are wonderful at teaching, I will keep it up and intend to go past the 4 days. Maybe I can only learn a few steps, but my main goal is to have fun, and it's awesome exercise! Thank you so much for taking the time to be here.

Thank you so much for this lesson. I'm going to Swannanoa for the first time, and wanted to try and have the basic flatfooting step down so I could get more out of the classes. This gives me a good chance!!

This is a great video and one of the best I've found. Thank you for posting this. I'm going to look at the other instructional videos in the series too. If they are all as good as this one, there is no reason to look anywhere else for additional info.
Chugging, yes! An important move with many variations. Like this particular dance surface and size. With taps the moves are much easier physically, at least for me. For this type of dancing I find the shoes and taps interesting. I always used two piece toe taps. Using street shoes, without taps, the physical, sound, and presentation can be quite different, of course, but just as fun!

no, the metal taps are slidey enough on wood
