It's 3 AM here, and I was about to go to sleep but just saw this and had to check it out! Tried some TFs for the first time last week while checking out a department store near me. Of all of them, my three favorites were Black Orchid Parfum, Tobacco Vanille, and Ombre Leather. Tried out Bitter Peach also on a strip and really enjoyed it, but I'm holding any judgement on it till I try on skin. Excited to give some more of the private blends a try and hopefully get the chance to wear each of them on skin. Thanks for the video, and love from the USA!
I’ve always been a fragrance lover, but became an enthusiast in 2017. I’ve learned that scents which are beloved in the frag com aren’t always as popular with the general public. We have a more discerning nose and appreciate more nuanced and challenging scents. So, it comes as no surprise to see many of these scents discontinued. For example, Oud Minerale is great, but I doubt it sells in sufficient quantities to justify continued production (even at private blend prices). It’s a nice to have, but not versatile enough to be a must have.
Already commented on this video, but on my way home from work today I stopped by a shop that was clearing stock and selling everything for 55% off. Inside they had one 250ml Flacon of Plum Japonais, managed to snag it for $275! Haven't smelled it yet, super excited to give it a try 😁
When you are passionate for fragrances. Then Tom Ford private blend gives you that value, satisfaction and pleasure. Worth having those 😘 though it is heavy of wallet 😅
I'm in Mexico, where occasionally they do buy 1 get 50% off the 2nd for Tom Ford. Have bought 3 bottles of Plum Japonais. It's my favourite fragrance. Have also snapped a bottle of Vert d'encens and Shanghai Lilly. If they have another sale before i return to England i need Oud minerale and Tobacco Oud also.

I.guess I'm backwards because when I first started on my Journey, I had no problem paying $150-200 for a fragrance because I didn't know about online retailers. All my purchases was from brick and mortar retail stores

Got oud minerale 50ml for £60 at Perfume shop. It was already on sale and I also had a 20% discount code to boot. Best fragrance bargain I've ever gotten. It would have been worth it at retail price, but at a fraction of the cost...it smells that much better lol
So I hear a lot about that molecule No1 / Iso E super or whatever and every time I try to look it up I only find some perfumes. Is this some pure product or a kind of combo scent? Can someone please send me in the right direction? Especially with everyone wearing masks now (stay save everyone!) I feel like some of my fragrances could really do with a little push. Great content! You got me into spending way too much money on Tom Ford recently :)
I have Mandarino Di Amalfi and it's amazing, also got Azzure lime and Shanghai Lilly which are both great discontinued gems and Bois Moroccan in a 30 ml decant bottle, so powerful that one is.

If anyone in the US is looking for Plum Japonais, I found it very recently for half off of the retail price at a Cosmetics Company Store (Outlet Store for Estee Lauder brands). I also picked up Shanghai Lily. They had Oud Fleur and Beau de Jour as well.

There are certain moments in this video where your shear joy and pride of your TF collection really shows in your face. There's no such thing as 'wasting money' on something that you enjoy. I'm yet to buy a Private Blend. But i'm edging towards it slowly! I'm stuck between Tobacco Vanille and Tuscan Leather.
Talking about oud wood, In the german frag community there was talk about Rihanah- private oud (not the singer) being incredibly close to OW but better longevity. 25-50€ (yes some sell it for 25, others for 50+)

Hey Chris, i went to Vegas last month and went to a TF boutique store. Told me they were discontinuing most of the Oud fragrances (Tobacco Oud, Tobacco Oud Intense,etc). Did not know about Plum Japonais! I immediately bought a bottle of Tobacco Oud on giftexpress.com (literally purchased the last one). Will have to look for Plum Japonais! Cheers from the US!
I agree with Oud Minerale. A sampler was my go to on a two week summer trip circumventing the Grand Canyon in 110 degree heat and wasn’t overpowering and always felt fresh. I picked up a 50ml as soon as I heard it was discontinued.
Earlier this week Tom Ford reduced the price on the discontinued frags on their website by 50% - picked up a 250ml decanter of Oud minerale for £199 instead of £399 - if you’d held off a couple of weeks your bank manager would have been happier ! Cafe rose , costa azzura, all the super-expensive ‘special reserves’ (Amber absolute, Bois Marocain, black violet etc) went down to 50% too - they’re in the ‘last look’ section if anything is left !
Yeah, it's out of stock almost everywhere. Bad decision in my opinion. I can understand why they discontinued Oud Wood Intense, but Tobacco Oud will be dearly missed..
I heard it’s has been, but i haven’t seen the official announcement, and still listed on the official website (out of stock at the moment) I still see some in store counters, I really want to know if it official, and get my back up bottle
“Sad where the brand is heading” - Not really sure what this means ? Some of these are discontinued due to slow sales (so that’s the buyers fault not the brands - if they don’t sell why would they continue them?) & some fall foul of new IFRA restrictions coming into force in January 2021 where some of them could not be reformulated within the new restrictions without totally altering the fragrance - so you can blame IFRA for that , not the brand.
Back To The Future - One of my top favourite movie of all times. TF Private Blend - I don't own any yet but have got a few favorites. Oud Wood being on the top closely followed by Tobacco Oud. Love Plum Japonais too...Great video.
Tom Ford- London is one of top 3 from the House, Vert d' Encens is another. Shame all these classics are going but IMO of current offerings, Soleil Brulant is superb.
Love Both, hope they release them in the signature collection. A great alternative to Oud Minerale is ADP Le Joker, it's in the same ballpark. Glad you could still get them Chris!

Vert d'encens is discontinued and very nice also. They're not discontinued, but i also have Noir de Noir and Tobacco Vanille which are lovely and definitely worth picking up also. I have Mandarino di Amalfi and Costa Azzurra Acqua also, which are lovely, but for the price i think Aqua di parma's, Fico di Amalfi is much better value.
Plum Japonais isn't bad but it's way too powdery for me. Oud Minerale, on the other hand... Amazing! I quickly purchased a 50ml and a 100ml of it! Looove it. Oh and the 100ml was about 170 UKP 😎
If you like Neroli Portofino, then you will love Dua’s Neroli of Genoa. I’m not one to hype at all, however I gave away my Neroli Portofino when I got Dua’s version - for me they bettered the fragrance, not just in terms of performance
Wearing fougere Dargant today it is suiting today’s weather in New York perfectly today spicy and somehow creamy Big love for me Also have a bottle of Beau du jour from the private line which was discontinued and now in their regular line so I feel I need to be careful with it.
Love this Tom Ford extravaganza. Such a shame to see these two disappear. I’ve got Black Violet and Rive D’Ambre still in there cellophane from around 2015. I’m a bit OCD with the top And the bottles tend to use a microfibre cloth to polish them up.
You're lucky to be in the U. K.! You need to roll into Harvy Nicks and try out some Xerjoff Italica. If you like gourmands, you will want to at least get your nose on it. I was super surprised about Plum Japonais too. It took a few wearings, but I really like that one a lot!
Nooo, not plum japonais😭😭😭 was on my long term hit list. Know it's a very very long shot but fingers crossed it will appear in the signature line in the future. P.s. forgot to change the clocks again. Every time 🤦
man u hv to get tobacco vanille n noir de noir! They are must hv especially when u r a frag reviewer. And also dont know if u hv tried Italian cypress but if u hvn't u should. it's gorgeous!. Got discontinued but currently i think brought back as a part of reserved collection with higher price tag ( ones with metal plaque). if u can pls chk. And also Neroli Portofino forte which is actually stronger than NP.
I picked up Plum Japonais when I got wind of the discontinuation. At full retail, which I barely do. It is just so good but I hoped they would release a 30ml of it. Instead it got canned and I had to pull the trigger. So sad. I hope they bring it back in some form at a later time. I don't get the criticism on Neroli Portofinos performance. It pretty much is a really long lasting version of 4711 which basically is gone in 30 minutes. Compared to that Neroli Portofino is beast mode.
I looked around and found it at John Lewis. There were 2 left in the Kingston branch. As I already have a full bottle I just picked one more. I thinks it’s a bit strange that T/F has discontinued this item as it’s such a gem.
Vert D'Encens is discontinued..I got a 50ml from ebay ...You have to love heliotrope which I had to get used to.. does have a piney chocolate vibe on the opening and drydown is balsamic👍
My test collection with 5-10ml bottles is constantly rising. I'm not into blind buying anymore and I think that testing with smaller fillings is much better than throwing out money for scents that you may not like at all.
I been trying to find PJ for over a year.. never at the discounter so that’s a bummer.. great scent tho from my memory. Moving to the signature line eventually? Fingers crossed.
Hi chris great vid as always mate, I bought oud wood after watching you giving it soo much love and i have to admit i love it very classy, ive also got neroli portofino and the 4711 but thats sooo alcoholy in the opining you loose that portifino scent before it even starts to develops. Also got mandarino amalfi aqua and again absolutely amazing, i sometimes spray it to lift my mood and now looking at your reaction to plum japonais it sounds amazing ill have to look into it. Also ive had roll in decants of tobaco vanille and noir de noir and have to say they are really lush too u need to check them out defo! What can you tell me about ombre leather 16 ? I do love it and I use it a lot. About 600 pounds every month it but I can't find it that much anymore. I'm worried they did finish producing it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Plum Japonais is one of my top five Tom Ford Private Blend fragrances. Oud Minerale is in my bottom five. I won't miss Oud Minerale at all, but it is sad that Plum Japonais is being discontinued. I much prefer Tobacco Oud over Oud Wood, so that is also disappointing. Plum Japonais and Tobacco Oud still seem to be available on the Tom Ford website. If the lists I have seen are correct, Tom Ford are discontinuing a large number of fragrances. This makes me wonder what the future holds for perfume at Tom Ford.
Some they aren’t discontinuing , they’re just discontinuing some formats (ie they’re drastically reducing the number that will be available as 250ml decanters as they want to reduce splits & get people to pay more ml for ml for 50ml bottles - like they do with Lost Cherry/Bitter Peach etc where no decanters were ever release despite being originally promoted). Some go naturally due to low sales & others fall foul of new IFRA regulations coming in in 2021 outlawing some of the ingredients they use & where an acceptable reformulation wasn’t possible)
If u really search u can find good deals. But Plum Japonais is very hard to find. I may have to buy it retail too. Oud minerale is nasty. I would never buy it
I don't have any Tom Ford fragrances because to me they are too overpriced. But the only ones I really enjoyed trying were Plum japonais, Vert d'encens, Rive d'ambre, Joncquille de nuit and Ombré leather ... If it continues like that I wouldn't really have to bother wondering if I really need to order a bottle 😆

I did not like the oud minarale so find for me that they do not make it anymore but i love love plum japonise one of my favorites from the line i have my bottle i will spray it very carefully now to bad they discontinued it :( one of the best plum/oud fragrance out there. It is not just about plum and oud it has also a lot of cinnemen and incense woods i love it
for the record, Tobacco Oud has also been axed. I was fortunate enough to find both a 50ml and a 100ml back-up bottles. (I'll likely keep the 100ml and gift the 50ml to a friend - a VERY good friend.) the axing of Plum Japonais is quite surprising and disappointing - I have a 50ml and now need to search for a back-up. thank you for another terrific and informative video. not that it matters vis-a-vis perfume, but if you were gay, and I were 10 years younger... uh... well... let's just say that the camera loves you.
My local department store just had a 20% off all Tom Fords, including these and Tobacco Oud which were all in stock at the time. None are in stock anymore...
I have a bottle of the original release & the performance is great - it’s been reformulated a few times in the many years since it release & performance seems to get worse each reformulation.
Woody fragrance performs better in the warm weather....my Oud Wood was accidentally packed for a trip to Mexico and I will say that fragrance screamed off my skin and lasted days on clothes
I find what you said about how crazy it seemed to be spending so much on a bottle of something funny, because it perfectly explains what happened with me. First starting out "wow look at these fancy Creed, Tom Ford, etc. They look so nice and fancy but I could never spend that much on a bottle" But here I am now with a Nishane, 2 Creed, 2 Tom Ford 😂.
TF Rive D'Ambre was discontinued and I only had the chance to get a 5ml decant 😔 it's a really great fragrance for the summer as it's a freshy but it has some depth in the dry down.

@@nathanthomas5133 Where did they reduce the prices to 50%? Once a fragrance becomes discontinued retail stores have to remove them from the floor and can’t sell them. Tom Ford doesn’t have a say what prices his fragrances are sold for on discounters. All the fragrances were also removed from his website as well.

At least I know u didn’t get fakes. You always risk getting a fake when u buy anywhere else . Even discounters

TF reduced the discontinued fragrances on their website earlier this week by 50% so you could have had oud minerale for half price !

The first 2007 launch of the private blends deserves multiple awards. It was such an incredible line up of fragrances.
I still wear Purple Patchouli , moss breches & Japon Noir - they’re better than 90% of what’s in the line now

I absolutely love our minerale, highly under rated IMO. To me, has a Aqua di Gio Perfumo vibe, absolutely get this while you can.

I agree with Oud Minerale. A sampler was my go to on a two week summer trip circumventing the Grand Canyon in 110 degree heat and wasn’t overpowering and always felt fresh. I picked up a 50ml as soon as I heard it was discontinued.
Earlier this week Tom Ford reduced the price on the discontinued frags on their website by 50% - picked up a 250ml decanter of Oud minerale for £199 instead of £399 - if you’d held off a couple of weeks your bank manager would have been happier ! Cafe rose , costa azzura, all the super-expensive ‘special reserves’ (Amber absolute, Bois Marocain, black violet etc) went down to 50% too - they’re in the ‘last look’ section if anything is left !

I really recommend you try Patchouli Absolu, which is also now discontinued. It's beautiful, masculine, rugged, sophisticated and perfect for autumn.
Plum J is my absolute favorite TF!!! You will never ever regret purchasing that, and in fact, it may move up into your top 3 or so :)
Absolutely breaks my heart that they are discontinuing Tobacco Oud & Tobacco Oud intense. Imo the best from the line, sad where the brand is heading

Yeah, it's out of stock almost everywhere. Bad decision in my opinion. I can understand why they discontinued Oud Wood Intense, but Tobacco Oud will be dearly missed..

“Sad where the brand is heading” - Not really sure what this means ? Some of these are discontinued due to slow sales (so that’s the buyers fault not the brands - if they don’t sell why would they continue them?) & some fall foul of new IFRA restrictions coming into force in January 2021 where some of them could not be reformulated within the new restrictions without totally altering the fragrance - so you can blame IFRA for that , not the brand.

TF Private Blend - I don't own any yet but have got a few favorites. Oud Wood being on the top closely followed by Tobacco Oud. Love Plum Japonais too...Great video.

Love Both, hope they release them in the signature collection. A great alternative to Oud Minerale is ADP Le Joker, it's in the same ballpark. Glad you could still get them Chris!

Vert d'encens is discontinued and very nice also. They're not discontinued, but i also have Noir de Noir and Tobacco Vanille which are lovely and definitely worth picking up also. I have Mandarino di Amalfi and Costa Azzurra Acqua also, which are lovely, but for the price i think Aqua di parma's, Fico di Amalfi is much better value.
Plum Japonais isn't bad but it's way too powdery for me. Oud Minerale, on the other hand... Amazing! I quickly purchased a 50ml and a 100ml of it! Looove it. Oh and the 100ml was about 170 UKP 😎
If you like Neroli Portofino, then you will love Dua’s Neroli of Genoa. I’m not one to hype at all, however I gave away my Neroli Portofino when I got Dua’s version - for me they bettered the fragrance, not just in terms of performance

Wearing fougere Dargant today it is suiting today’s weather in New York perfectly today spicy and somehow creamy Big love for me Also have a bottle of Beau du jour from the private line which was discontinued and now in their regular line so I feel I need to be careful with it.

Love this Tom Ford extravaganza. Such a shame to see these two disappear. I’ve got Black Violet and Rive D’Ambre still in there cellophane from around 2015. I’m a bit OCD with the top And the bottles tend to use a microfibre cloth to polish them up.

Oud minerale smells great but it’s one of those scents I’d struggle to find the right time or situation to wear.
You're lucky to be in the U. K.! You need to roll into Harvy Nicks and try out some Xerjoff Italica. If you like gourmands, you will want to at least get your nose on it.
I was super surprised about Plum Japonais too. It took a few wearings, but I really like that one a lot!
Might be the new IFRA restrictions which come in in the new year, if they couldn’t reformulated it & still make it work

man u hv to get tobacco vanille n noir de noir! They are must hv especially when u r a frag reviewer. And also dont know if u hv tried Italian cypress but if u hvn't u should. it's gorgeous!. Got discontinued but currently i think brought back as a part of reserved collection with higher price tag ( ones with metal plaque). if u can pls chk. And also Neroli Portofino forte which is actually stronger than NP.

I picked up Plum Japonais when I got wind of the discontinuation. At full retail, which I barely do. It is just so good but I hoped they would release a 30ml of it. Instead it got canned and I had to pull the trigger. So sad. I hope they bring it back in some form at a later time.
I don't get the criticism on Neroli Portofinos performance. It pretty much is a really long lasting version of 4711 which basically is gone in 30 minutes. Compared to that Neroli Portofino is beast mode.
I looked around and found it at John Lewis. There were 2 left in the Kingston branch. As I already have a full bottle I just picked one more.

Vert D'Encens is discontinued..I got a 50ml from ebay ...You have to love heliotrope which I had to get used to.. does have a piney chocolate vibe on the opening and drydown is balsamic👍

My test collection with 5-10ml bottles is constantly rising. I'm not into blind buying anymore and I think that testing with smaller fillings is much better than throwing out money for scents that you may not like at all.

Hi chris great vid as always mate, I bought oud wood after watching you giving it soo much love and i have to admit i love it very classy, ive also got neroli portofino and the 4711 but thats sooo alcoholy in the opining you loose that portifino scent before it even starts to develops. Also got mandarino amalfi aqua and again absolutely amazing, i sometimes spray it to lift my mood and now looking at your reaction to plum japonais it sounds amazing ill have to look into it.
Also ive had roll in decants of tobaco vanille and noir de noir and have to say they are really lush too u need to check them out defo! Peace and love look fwd to your next vid keep up the great work my friemd

Plum Japonais is one of my top five Tom Ford Private Blend fragrances. Oud Minerale is in my bottom five. I won't miss Oud Minerale at all, but it is sad that Plum Japonais is being discontinued. I much prefer Tobacco Oud over Oud Wood, so that is also disappointing. Plum Japonais and Tobacco Oud still seem to be available on the Tom Ford website. If the lists I have seen are correct, Tom Ford are discontinuing a large number of fragrances. This makes me wonder what the future holds for perfume at Tom Ford.
Some they aren’t discontinuing , they’re just discontinuing some formats (ie they’re drastically reducing the number that will be available as 250ml decanters as they want to reduce splits & get people to pay more ml for ml for 50ml bottles - like they do with Lost Cherry/Bitter Peach etc where no decanters were ever release despite being originally promoted). Some go naturally due to low sales & others fall foul of new IFRA regulations coming in in 2021 outlawing some of the ingredients they use & where an acceptable reformulation wasn’t possible)
If u really search u can find good deals. But Plum Japonais is very hard to find. I may have to buy it retail too. Oud minerale is nasty. I would never buy it
I don't have any Tom Ford fragrances because to me they are too overpriced. But the only ones I really enjoyed trying were Plum japonais, Vert d'encens, Rive d'ambre, Joncquille de nuit and Ombré leather ... If it continues like that I wouldn't really have to bother wondering if I really need to order a bottle 😆
Eh ? You can pick up ombré leather for around £80 , it’s the same price as Gucci/Gaultier - not exactly “too overpriced” 🤪🤪

I did not like the oud minarale so find for me that they do not make it anymore but i love love plum japonise one of my favorites from the line i have my bottle i will spray it very carefully now to bad they discontinued it :( one of the best plum/oud fragrance out there. It is not just about plum and oud it has also a lot of cinnemen and incense woods i love it
for the record, Tobacco Oud has also been axed. I was fortunate enough to find both a 50ml and a 100ml back-up bottles. (I'll likely keep the 100ml and gift the 50ml to a friend - a VERY good friend.) the axing of Plum Japonais is quite surprising and disappointing - I have a 50ml and now need to search for a back-up. thank you for another terrific and informative video. not that it matters vis-a-vis perfume, but if you were gay, and I were 10 years younger... uh... well... let's just say that the camera loves you.
My local department store just had a 20% off all Tom Fords, including these and Tobacco Oud which were all in stock at the time. None are in stock anymore...

I have a bottle of the original release & the performance is great - it’s been reformulated a few times in the many years since it release & performance seems to get worse each reformulation.

Woody fragrance performs better in the warm weather....my Oud Wood was accidentally packed for a trip to Mexico and I will say that fragrance screamed off my skin and lasted days on clothes
I find what you said about how crazy it seemed to be spending so much on a bottle of something funny, because it perfectly explains what happened with me. First starting out "wow look at these fancy Creed, Tom Ford, etc. They look so nice and fancy but I could never spend that much on a bottle" But here I am now with a Nishane, 2 Creed, 2 Tom Ford 😂.

TF Rive D'Ambre was discontinued and I only had the chance to get a 5ml decant 😔 it's a really great fragrance for the summer as it's a freshy but it has some depth in the dry down.
Rive D’ambre was re-released a couple of years ago & has been available ever since in their private reserve collection & is still easy to find

@@nathanthomas5133 Where did they reduce the prices to 50%? Once a fragrance becomes discontinued retail stores have to remove them from the floor and can’t sell them. Tom Ford doesn’t have a say what prices his fragrances are sold for on discounters. All the fragrances were also removed from his website as well.
