Old Network/System Admin here.... Thanks for this fine video. I lost interest in KDE after version 3. Went Gnome2/Mate for the longest time. Now.... I've been on Cinnamon since version 4. But.... Big Linux has turned my head! I very much like what I see. Testing in a VM as I type. Installed very quickly. Nice automatic choices for setup. I get the feeling the Big Linux Team is like the Linux Mint Team: Making a "Root Distro" much better by listening to their User Base. I used Manjaro as my daily driver from 2016 until 2021. That was until "Update Hell" and the Manjaro Team (pissing-off their user base) finally driving me away from them. I'm currently on LMDE5. But... Big Linux has a big chance of making me switch distros. Keep on impressing me, BIG LINUX!!!! Thank You.
Manjaro is my daily driver on my MSI gaming laptop. i installed Big Linux on a "backup" laptop that I use in case of any issues with my main laptop. The installation of Manjaro gives you the option to choose between swap or no swap. Using an SSD drive, it's better to not use swap. The installation of Big Linux does not give the options for swap, since it's an automatic setup for swap. I prefer to have the option for swap when installing any distro. This is the only issue I have with Big Linux. Aside from that, it is a great distro.
I thought the same thing why is this not higher in the rankings of distrowatch its a great distro another that doesn't show is ultramarine linux another great distro. Great video.
Manjaro being my previous fav Linux distro, Big Linux is looking even better! I'll put this on my distro list to try. My daily driver will remain to be MX Linux though... it's just so stable , snappy, and awesome! 😁

Do you still use It after 7 months? I'm trying It, and I'm stunned as well. I'm dual booting It with Linux Mint. But It sure has some advantages Over It, like AUR and a good UX for KDE Plasma
BigLinux is on DistroWatch. You can search for it. They aren't in the top 100 distros because their ranking for the last 6 months is 139. The BigLinux DistroWatch page lists the last release date to be 2022-02-07 and it reports a last update of 2022-12-02 @ 1:54 UTC. Not sure why that is. The distro maintainers should probably inquire about that.
You should always use what fits you. I didn’t truly understand that until I used BigLinux. Once installed I spent many hours configuring it to how I like it. It’s not hard or daunting. I remember using window blinds and alternate desktops for windows like Talisman back in the day. Well, anyway, I decided to give Garuda a shot and it felt bloated to me and I couldn’t do some of the things I did easily in BigLinux. I tried a couple of other Distros after that, all the time missing BigLinux. This weekend when I get some time off from work it is going back on my machine. Not because it’s the biggest or best, not because it’s bleeding edge or fun to use, but because it “fits” me. It’s my OS of choice. Now I understand how an OS “fits” you.
I had the same experience with mx Linux every distro I tried I just kept comparing it to how my computer functioned with mx so finally this weekend I just installed mx and got it all configured. I may give big Linux a try on an external drive tho.

I’m a noob user and big Linux is very easy. I haven’t broke it yet, never freezes. Highly customizable or just use simply out of the box if customizing isn’t your thing. The software “store” is one of the best for finding software to suite your needs. Comes with Libre Office as most do though I hear Only Office (easily installed from store) may be more compatible with MS Office. Easily create web apps which I use for Disney+ and TH-cam which I use daily. My onboard speakers don’t work (but in my pc no Distro operates my onboard speakers) but since I generally hook up to Bluetooth speakers that’s not an issue as Bluetooth works fine. Basically, BigLinux is great. I tried others and found some to be rather limiting, some just bloated and hard to get around, and others not playing well with my NVIDIA gpu. BigLinux is the best computing experience I’ve had since XP. And as a total noob, I’ve yet to use a terminal or enter any code to make what I need work. I couldn’t even tell you where the terminal is lol.
I'm 7:49 in the video and ask myself, what can this Distro better than Garuda? I get the point about Distrowatch isn't what it was ten years ago tho. Now I've finished the video but well. @@eBuzzCentral I stop using Manjaro based distros because their support for AMD GPUs is horrible and very inconsistent across generations of gpu. Manjaro based distros boot menu is archaic has no real use outside the preset/defaults. When editing boot parameters for some AMD cards, Manjaro's auto driver installer seems to ignore changes at boot screen even in changes in grub so black screen of death with no options for other driver support options and no visible tty..... I at least have visible TTY options on Ubuntu and Fedora when same issues occur (maybe better vga options not sure why tty works while I have no visible tty on Manjaro) I'm able to work around the same issues on those distros vs Manjaro based distros including Garuda (which I like), Mabox, etc... all suffer the same fate.... I fear BigLinux, based on Manjaro, will suffer the same fate ..... I'll give it a go on my AMD test machine.... Thanks for the review
The best Distro I have used to date. There is just so much to love about it and I haven't had any problems. I've used distro's since Slackware maybe 1994-ish, Debian varieties, Mint, Ubuntu, most Arch derivatives but I love this distribution the most! If introducing a new GNU/Linux user to Linux I would make this my #1 recommendation. 🙃
Tried it for about a month before Christmas, looked impressive but sometimes it wouldn't shut down properly and had to pull the plug on my pc. Also on Christmas day, turned my pc on to find snow falling on my screen, i know there was an app to have that happen, xsnow i believe it's called but i didn't install it, tried to delete it but wouldn't let me. Don't like Distros that seem to install things you don't ask for. Went back to Mint.
BigLinux is fantastic. But, Nvidea drivers won't match up to Manjaro kernels, from 5.10 to the newest, bummer. BL would rule if they used the 'zen' kernel and the Chaotic AUR.
Well, you had WOW TWICE on your thumbnail- and I AGREE.... I'm amazed. I just checked through after I installed it-- and WOW-- the videos look like REAL- so much better.. don't know if that means 4k or what- but makes my other videos viewing on Sparky or the others- look like flat tv.. with a weak signal!!! The only thing I can't find yet- is how to aDD THEMES.. (like black glass, or dark so and so).. I have it looking about the way I had my other one-- but kept enough of theirs that it's SUPER!!! I'm amazed at HOW FAST it is too.. I've only noticed one possible GLITCH so far-- my krohnkite script for TILINg- works beautifully MOST of the time- but when you're installing stuff- it tries to tile- and can't --comes out with a screen over another... BUT that's only when trying to install something. So maybe that's NOT a glitch so much as MY messup. BUT it looks great and is FAST...and the VIDOES look SO REAL!!! OH-- and I used the kernel 6 whatever instead of the 5-- and it picked up my older hardware just PERFECTLY without my having to do a thing.
@eBuzzCentral why do you not make a video talking negatively about Chrome OS I want your option on Chrome OS Please I don't like Chrome OS but people keep calling it a Linux Distro can you make a Video about Chrome OS?
You only have to choose one and run off with it forever. I have chosen MX and I'm with MX for life. So that means one Linux distro. The other's don't exist to me. That's all anybody have to do. If you're complaining to many distro's on the playing field.
Yes, I approve this video! I've struggled to learn Linux over many distros and always had some debilitating problem - either bugs/incompatibilities, or just not intuitive enough for a Windows switcher. This is now my dd for the foreseeable future. So as good as BigLinux is, I think the main plus overall for people like me is that you can actually use it and things just work as you expect for the most part. No long cryptic CLI needed that you'll just get wrong and frustrated over (like trying to install something, anything). This system is intuitive. Another big honourable mention is that you won't have to deal with all those condescending gods on Linux forums nearly as much! Fellow newbies give this one a try. IMO, Deepin, for all it's accolades, it has nothing on Big.

Nah, tried it on my research machine, HP, 2016 model, 1Tb HDD, 16Gb RAM,. AMD A-10 Radeon CPU, hangs forever on updates, and freezes for no reason. Put Mint back on that machine & not a moment's problems. Don't have any idea why, just can't keep BIG running.
Wow, that is the exact test machine I have it running on, except I have a 500GB HDD and 8GB RAM and have no issue at all.
@@eBuzzCentral I downloaded it about a month ago, after your previous video on it. I was quite keen to use it, sounded great, but I tried several installs, kept doing the same stuff. Reformatted both the HDD, and the USB I used, tried virgin install, same issue. Not knocking the distro, looks great, just has an issue with my warhorse laptop.
@@quintonchristie7149 that's super strange, almost spookey. Does machines have a soul? o.o
I at least have visible
TTY options on Ubuntu and Fedora when same issues occur (maybe better vga options not sure why tty works while I have no visible tty on Manjaro) I'm able to work around the same issues on those distros vs Manjaro based distros including Garuda (which I like), Mabox, etc... all suffer the same fate....
I fear BigLinux, based on Manjaro, will suffer the same fate ..... I'll give it a go on my AMD test machine....
Thanks for the review
How secure is it being from Brazil?
All the tests I have run, it is very secure.
It looks good, and I like that it comes with Brave, but the name and that logo don't do anything for me
IT DOES look very good.. I might try it out LIVE- but really like my Sparky.. and have gone back to it after all the lastest "try -outs" I've done.
VAIIII BRASILLLL!!!
BigLinux is fantastic. But, Nvidea drivers won't match up to Manjaro kernels, from 5.10 to the newest, bummer. BL would rule if they used the 'zen' kernel and the Chaotic AUR.
I installed Tweak-Tools. There it is possible to get the Chaotic AUR. Have Fun in the big world of arch ;-)
To be honest, I think NixOS is much better!😉
How is the android app support not blowing this distro up?
Testing now if u go big info u find all browsers
Brazilians distro's are the best!
Cool Linux but dont play YT on brave and chrome . Full updated any concept 😮why?
I'm gonna give it ago.
In a real machine it's even more beautiful with blur and etc.
but why so much google ?
Ram usage is 1gb plus.. !!
Too many distros
You only have to choose one and run off with it forever. I have chosen MX and I'm with MX for life. So that means one Linux distro. The other's don't exist to me. That's all anybody have to do. If you're complaining to many distro's on the playing field.
It's about choices. At the end of the day, the cream always rises to the top.
