Your drone flew over our apartment complex twice, once flying south on Main Street, then passed Waffle Hut, banked right then right again heading north on Pine street flying over us again. so that does not look that bad, everywhere I research people say it is a Meth town , high crime rate etc. Can someone give me more information ? THanks
Downtown Klamath is like other small and large cities across the country, we have crime, we have drugs. In the last few years we have dealt with the homeless issues along the two main boulevards 6th Street and Washburn Avenues. Recently Klamath has had to lock up it's bus transfer stations after hours to prevent people from sleeping there. The problem became so bad, they actually removed a bus shelter outside of Walmart a year ago, leaving passengers, the old, disabled to wait in the cold weather for their bus to arrive, all to prevent the homeless from sleeping there during the day and night. However most of the city, off the beaten path, is tranquil, full of typical homes, neighborhoods, beautiful parks & trails. We also have the largest fresh water lake west of the great lakes. Klamath Lake, who's square footage is equal to that of San Francisco Bay! Albeit the deepest parts are only 6 to 7 feet. The lake is so huge that the Klamath Falls Yacht Club hosts racing regattas on Hobie Cats 13' 14' and 16' footers, along with Santana 20's and various other short keeled racing boats. During the summer months , the general public is allowed to enjoy the Klamath Yacht Club, and watch the racing from the Bar and Grill. You can also sail for free if you sign up to crew with one of the skippers. I retired and moved to Klamath 4 years ago from Alameda, California, because of the high increasing rents of the San Francisco Bay Area. So Klamath is a relatively inexpensive place to live if you're on a fixed income. Rents are cheap. We have Walmart, Home Depot, Albertsons, Petco, Chase, Wells Fargo, McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza and Beer, Pelican Cinemas if you enjoy going out to the movies and a host of other nice stores to shop at. We also have Skylakes Medical Center to serve all your medical needs. But if you're looking for a mall, your out of luck and have to travel up to Bend, Eugene or Portland which are several hundred miles away. Klamath is what I would call a hidden gem, but like most gems. We have our blemishes too. 🙂
