Is it possible that a fracture is undetected even with a CBCT scan? Tried root canal procedure twice with no luck. My CBCT scan showed no fracture in tooth but my pain is not going away. I went to the best doctor in town and even she is unable to manage my pain. My canals are cleaned so the only possibility is a crack which I ruled out by a CBCT but I need to know that are there any fractures that doesn't show in the CBCT scan?
@One With Nature yeah same here. Unfortunately such tooth had to be extracted eventually. I suffered lots of pain and spent lots of money or RCT and re RCT but in the end had to extract it. The maxillofacial surgeon told me there are some cracks that are so complex that they are impossible to be seen in any scan. These crack opens when we bite from that tooth. Then closed back so an x ray can not see them. I hope you get some solution or else you ll have to extract it I afraid but really after extraction you ll be relieved. It will be some intense pain for few days but you ll be given antibiotics and painkillers. Once it heels you ll be glad that you have it removed. My best wishes. For any questions feel free to ask.
@One With Nature Then maybe you don't have anything wrong and its just a trauma that takes some time to heal. Tooth and surrounding gums are very sensitive and takes time to heal. If possible try to avoid chewing from that tooth even a little and use your other side for now. You mentioned pain came to a manageable level is a very good news. Most probably your tooth is fine then. Just require some time to heal. You know sometimes trauma or injury to gums also feel like tooth pain. If gums are inflamed for any reason you may feel its the tooth. Sometimes its referred pain and the patient can swear it's the tooth. Your dentist is right. Just give it some time and give it rest. Giving it rest is very crucial for quick healing. Good luck. Keep me posted.
@One With Nature sorry for the late reply. I am very sick these days actually. What you mentioned is trauma to teeth so could be gums or jaw related and not the teeth. As I said a person can swear that the pain is in the tooth but in reality its referred pain. This whole mouth anatomy is linked to each other and very sensitive so that's why we feel pain like this. How are you feeling now? Any more improvements? I didn't go for implant yet and try to chew from limited space I have. I have my both lower molars extracted so have little space but so far manageable. Having some other health issues so delaying this teeth thing. May a bridge is also possible instead of a an implant because the surgeon told me there is support they can get from a surrounding tooth. Let me know how are you doing?
Also warning do not go for bridge that relies on your healthy teeth as post, you will eventually lose that healthy teeth a decade or two later! Whoever tells you to do bridge using healthy teeth is an old dentist that doesn't know new options. Do implant that want you don't eventually kill your healthy teeth by using them as posts.
Wrong information - how can tooth slooth help when there is a crown on the tooth. How can flexing of cusp happen with in the crown. Wrong info given by doctor

Don't waste your money with root canal just go for implant directly and you will be happy that it will last you a lifetime.
