That was really fantastic. I was brought up on Elvis music and the only boxer we watched on TV was Ali. That was a really nice speech Ali gave. It came from his heart. Elvis and Ali. Two of the Greatest people who ever lived. Thanks Trey but Thanks Elvis and Thanks Ali. You will never be forgotten.

Hi Trey, I was there that day at Memphis State University on August 16, 1985. It was like electricity in the room at that moment when the great Mohammed Ali walked down the centre aisle. This was my very first trip to Memphis. His amazing presence was indescribable almost like that of Elvis Presley himself who sadly I never saw. The love and the respect he had for his friend Elvis was just magical. This moment in time is something that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for sharing it.

I have though, seen a clip here on YT a while back that you should check out. I don't know if it's still here, but it's a clip of Ali on the Mike Douglas Show in the mid 1970s, and Mike brings up to Ali his friendship with Elvis. Just listen to how Ali talks about Elvis. He was clearly very fond of him, and vice-versa.

If you think about it, it’s kinda childish, to meet a celebrity who is equal or bigger then you and without warning or any signs that it was play time sweep someone’s legs causing this person to fall awkwardly. Especially, when Ali had to step into the ring within the next few days. Not cool. It would be like Ali unexpectedly karate chops Elvis’s neck, two nights before he had to perform on stage. We wouldn’t have thought that was to funny. But, they were great friends and they were both hero’s of the century !
